Star woke happily in her warm bed, sunlight filling her room with a golden glow and birds singing outside. She grinned and rubbed her eyes, then leapt out of bed, happy that it was a Saturday.

She used the bathroom then was just deciding what to wear when she remembered her odd dream. Frowning, she reached for her wand. It was completely intact, but as she ran her finger over the star at it's centre, she didn't feel the natural buzz of magic from inside it. This worried her.

She quickly pulled her sea green dress and rammed her devil headband on, then sat on her bed and pointed her wand at the wall.

"Narwhale Blast!" She said.

Nothing.

"Narwhale Blast!" She shouted, shaking the wand.

Nothing.

"Narwhale Blast!" She yelled, violently jabbing the wand.

Nothing.

"Okay. Okay, calm down Butterfly, it might just be a glitch..." She muttered, trying not to panic. "Maybe it's just the Narwhales. Maybe they're tired. I'll just try another one."

Star tried at least ten more spells. None worked, and finally when even Spider With a Top Hat didn't prevail, she really started to stress.

What had Toffee said in her dream?

Marco was the source of her magic? Did that mean... Had Toffee done something to Marco? What if... Had it been real after all?

Star sprinted to Marco's room and hammered on the door.

"Marco!" She shouted. "Marco Marco Marco!!" There was no reply. Star banged the door open and fell in, staring around.

"Marco?"

The room was empty and the bed was made. Marco hadn't slept here last night.
Then she spotted a small square lump under the blanket. Yanking it back, she saw a voice recorder. Star gasped. This was what she had heard last night, not Marco.

Star started to panic. If Marco wasn't here, what if Toffee had him and had done something to him, so now she couldn't use her magic?

Star stared at her wand, tears prickling in the back of her eyes. Then, suddenly, something caught her attention: on the back of her wand, in tiny raised letters...

"Wait... What the..." She squinted. "'Made in China'?"
