Chapter 31: (Y/N)'s Breaking Point
How much does it take to break a person? Well it depends on the person. Some people are easier to break than others, and some are stubborn enough to hang on. But everyone has a breaking point.
One month had passed since the training camp. And (Y/N) was still conflicted. She could barely think straight anymore, slinking further and further into her depression. She had finally reached her breaking point, with her sanity splintering all around her.
Curled up on her bed she sighed shakily. There was a knock on the door. "(Y/N)...Can I come in?" Izaya asked. She hesitated for a minute. "Not right now...I just want to get some sleep." She said. Izaya was silent before sighing. "Alright (Y/N)...I won't bug you. See you in the morning." He said. (Y/N) closed her eyes, letting sleep overtake her.
She awoke in a field. The sky above her a bright blue, and the grass under her green. She sat up, looking around. She reached for the Personas only to find that they weren't there. (Y/N) sighed, standing up, already knowing what this place was, and what was about to take place. Black slowly began to creep along the green grass, the sky turning red over it. Eventually the field had been completely divided in half, one side green grass and a blue sky, the other black ground and a red sky.
She had been here before...and she knew what was coming...
A dark shadow began to come up to the edge of the black and red half, and it took the form of (Y/N). But not...her per say. This version had midnight black hair, her eyes dark blood red. But not in the same way that Darkheart's eyes were red. No...this red was the color of blood. Not of hate, but of pure insanity. This one was covered in scars, the sleeves of her coat pushed up to reveal her forearms which were covered in old scars. Along with the burn scar over her eye being fully visible. No sense of shame at all. (Y/N) looked away a bit. "Yami." She greeted flatly. The Shadow smirked. "I still see no point to you giving me a name. I'm not like the Personas (Y/N)." She said. "I'm aware. What do you want?" (Y/N) hissed. "Oh you know exactly what I'm here for." She said. (Y/N) was silent. "I think it's time we finally pick a d*mn side (Y/N)." Yami growled, crossing her scarred arms. "And you want me to pick villain." (Y/N) said. "No s*it. Its time to grow up. You can't be a hero. WE, can't be heroes. None of the Personas can. Not while he's on the other side." She said. "Just because Shoto's on one side doesn't mean we have to change." (Y/N) protested. "Are you sure about that?" Yami asked. She swiped her hand and multiple screens appeared, showing so many moments with Shoto. "You love him. So much that you haven't told anyone his true nature. What he is. You're protecting him. But admit it. You want to be at his side...forever." Yami said. (Y/N)'s eyes focused on those moments. When he hugged her. When he kissed her. When he was there when no one else was to see her pain. "He's the King to your Queen (Y/N). Accept that. Give into me. And I can give you the courage you need." Yami said.
(Y/N) sighed slowly. "I...I don't know...What about Deku...? What about All Might? After everything they've done for me....And Izaya and Shizuo too..." She said. "(Y/N)...That doesn't matter now. All Might...we've already betrayed him once for a job. And have we not forsaken Deku as well with that? Izaya is an Info Broker. He'll accept you no matter the side you're on. And as for Shizuo, do you honestly think he'll care? Heck, I doubt he even cares about villains or heroes. He lives in God d*mn Ikebukro for crying out loud!" Yami countered. (Y/N) froze a bit before sighing. She's right... She thought. "I've appeared to you like this once before. When you first entered the Info Broker world. You denied me then. Clinging to the hope of being a hero. But do you still have that hope (Y/N)? Your father is a dangerous Info Broker, but he treats you with more kindness than your 'hero father'. You fell in love with a villain, who was the first to notice your pain. Tell me, is being a hero worth loosing what you have right now?" Yami asked. "Nothing has to change." (Y/N) muttered. "If you become a hero, you can't see Shoto. Eventually you'll have to move away from Izaya as well. Not even he can protect you forever (Y/N), and you're still a few years off from being eighteen." She countered. "Things have to change (Y/N). They have to. Otherwise this is all you'll have, and you'll lose everything you care about. And what do you have right now (Y/N), hm? Pain. Misery. Loneliness. And the painful ache of depression and sense of responsibility." She continued.
Yami chuckled darkly. "Let me take control (Y/N)...surrender to the darkness. Choose the right side for once. Just think....you'll be by Shoto's side. You'll no longer be expected to be perfect. You can live here in Ikebukro like normal and it won't make a difference. You'll be free to choose for yourself. Just listen to me (Y/N). Freedom. Isn't that what you've always wanted? Isn't that what you became an Info Broker for?" She questioned. Yami held out her hand to (Y/N). "Let me kill what's holding you back. Fall into the dark side. Become me." She said.
I wanted to take her hand so badly in that moment. But fear restrained me. This choice...this one choice could determine my entire life from this point forward. Chains held me down. And if I took her hand, would they break? Or would more be added? I wanted freedom so badly...freedom to be who I was, and love who I wanted. I wanted to reform the world and make it better. But to be the number one hero? After everything I've done? That goal...that dream I had...it seems so far now....impossible even. And could I really use my full power on the hero's side? No...they were restricted. Bound by rules and regulations. Never able to stray from that path or risk being destroyed. Humans are vile...and nasty creatures. How Izaya can love them so, I may never know. But am I much better? I've done bad things....violent things. But rarely have I ever felt regret or remorse for an action.
"Lets make it a deal (Y/N). You'll still be you, you're still (Y/N). And your Personas will all still be...well. Your Personas. Its just that you'll be more confident. You'll be stronger. You won't have any restrictions on how much or how little you can use your powers. And if anyone tries to limit you, you can blast them all away. In exchange for letting me kill the good inside you, I'll let you retain your control. And you'll be free. Sounds like a good deal. What do you say?" Yami asked, still holding out her hand to (Y/N). The (H/C) haired female slowly sighed out. "Yami..." She trailed off, grabbing Yami's hand.
"You have a deal."
The blue sky turned red as the green grass withered and died, leaving nothing but a black mess. Yami smirked, slowly fading away. (Y/N) was left standing alone. But she was not the same as she was before. The chains were broken, and her full power was finally released. The depression? Cast away. For the source of it she would no longer have to worry about. Her fear? Gone...because she had the power to stand against it, and she was fully aware of it all along. Her morals? Shattered beyond repair. She was going to reform the world, but she didn't have to do it in the traditional sense.
A smirk broke across her face. "Huh...I'm the same...yet somehow...different." She said to herself. She snapped her fingers and almost all of her abilities and powers activated at once around her. She chuckled darkly. "No more restrictions huh?" She questioned.
~Meanwhile~
The Personas were all hanging out in the room when (Y/N) appeared. "Hey (Y/N)-...." Chibi trailed off, noticing her older self, wasn't the same anymore. "G-guys..." She stuttered. Everyone looked over, sensing quickly the difference in (Y/N). "What happened?" Velvet inquired. "Simply put, I woke up. And its about time all of you do as well." (Y/N) said. She walked over to the control panel, placing her hands on it, causing sparks to fly as many glitchy screens appeared around her. "We're switching sides. and we're getting revenge." (Y/N) said with determination. And with that, the mind space went dark.
(Y/N) woke up with a small headache. She shook her head with a small smirk. "Let's cause a scene." She said picking up her phone and packing a few things in her bag. She dialed a number she hadn't called in a while. "(Y/N)?" Shoto said. "The one and only Sho. How's it going?" She shot back. "Have you made your decision (Y/N)?" He asked. "Geez. No time for small talk? Well that's fine too. I need your help with something. And yes, I did make my decision." She responded. "I've decided that its time for me to stop living in the delusion of one day becoming a hero. For God's sake I work as an Info Broker. Geez. I have full intention of joining you now. Sudden yeah? But anyways, I need your help causing a scene. I plan on completely ruining my "father's" reputation." (Y/N) said. Shoto seemed to become more alert after that. "I'm listening..." He said, the smirk in his tone undeniable.
"Alright...here's what I want to do..."
