Chapter 20: Welcome To Ikebukro, Leave Your Sanity At The Door
I walked out of the alley way, looking for the spot I needed too when I noticed a loud commotion down the streets. Next thing I knew a raven haired man with a fur coat ran past with a smirk on his face as a vending machine flew over him. "IZAYA!" I looked further down the street to see a blond in a bartender suit chasing after the raven. "You'll never catch me Shizu-Chan!" The raven called back still running. Chibi, Velvet, and Sky were all dumbfounded. I smirked slightly. "We're in the right place alright." I said. The two scariest people in Ikebukro, Shizuo Heiwajima and Izaya Orihara. Their fights are legendary down here. Shizuo is known as the strongest man in Ikebukro and he definitely earns that title, being able to rip street signs, trees, vending machines, lamp posts, all right out of the ground, as well as pick up buses, and other vehicles like they're nothing. Izaya is the one who taught us how to be a proper Information Broker. But he's one of the most feared people around here. He loves all humans, minus Shizuo since he really doesn't count him as a human. He sees himself as a god, and he stirs up mischief just for his own entertainment. He's a psychopath through and through. But one thing is for sure, these two do not get along in the slightest. They've hated eachother since the moment they saw eachother. In fact they tried to kill eachother upon their very first meeting. Once Darkheart was done with her mini rant Shizuo himself ran right past me still chasing Izaya. "Well then, shall we follow them?" I questioned aloud. And with that I chased after Shizuo who was chasing after Izaya. Eventually I raced ahead of Shizuo, shocking the blond. "What the hell!?" He shouted. Izaya shot a look back to see what was going on but I was already at his side. "Heya." I said. He just looked at me with slight confusion. "(Y/N)?" He said in a questioning tone. "The one and only genius. So care to explain what happened or do you need me to bail you out first?" I questioned. He shook his head slightly. "Nah I got this. Wouldn't be the first time." He said, rolling his eyes. "Well I've already had to parkour around a train station today so is there any place I can wait for you because I need a nap." I said. He hummed to himself before we both quickly ducked under a street sign. "There's a park a little further down. I can lose Shizu-Chan by then so you can wait there." He said. "Alright. See ya." I said. I quickly split off from the raven haired man into an alley way before teleporting behind a tree in the park. I walked out from behind the tree looking around. Barely anyone was there so I just found a seat somewhere and relaxed. Geez. We better not have to do anymore running today or I'm killing something! 'Calm yourself.' Shut up Velvet. She's right. Calm down Sparky. Darkheart, not you too. C'mon guys just chill. I thought. I heard a noise and looked to see a black motorcycle racing down the street towards my direction. I turned in my seat to get a better look. Ah, the headless rider. Izaya has told us about her before. Her? 'I'm sure we'll see soon enough.' 'Sky is correct, she seems to be slowing down.' This is interesting. I thought. The headless rider pulled over right by the fence where I had perched myself. Yes I was sitting on the fence. She pulled out a PDA and typed something into it quickly before showing it to me.
???: Who are you?
I started at her for a little bit with a blank expression. "What do you mean? And couldn't I be asking you the same question?" I asked. She pulled the PDA back before typing something else.
???: I mean who are you?
???: I've never seen you around here before.
???: Are you new?
???: I mean you have a suitcase and everything.
???: And I saw you with Izaya running from Shizuo earlier.
???: How do you know him?
I slowly pushed the PDA down and gave her a smile. "Too many questions at once. Slow down." I said. "First, can I have your name? So I know what to call you." I said.
???: It's Celty.
Celty: Celty Sturluson.
Celty: But call me Celty.
I nodded. "Alright then. And yes. I am new to Ikebukro. This is my first time down here actually. They call me (Y/N)." I said. She nodded.
Celty: But seriously. How do you know Izaya?
I smirked slightly. "Who doesn't know Izaya? Isn't he like at the center of everything down here?" I questioned. Celty looked like she started laughing.
Celty: Okay that is true.
Celty: He is at the center of everything.
Celty: But only those in the Ikebukro and Shinjuku areas should know him.
Celty: Anyone outside of that I highly doubt.
Celty: And you don't look like you're from either of those areas.
Celty: Also are you okay? You look hurt.
I titled my head to the side. "Hurt? Oh- you're talking about the bandages. Yeah no. I'm fine. Just a little brawl with a friend before coming here. And I suppose you're right. I'm not sure if anyone from my city knows him. At least, as long as they're just normal people that is." I said, somewhat to myself. I wonder if the heroes and villains know about Izaya? Then again why care about the Info Broker down here when they've got one just as talented. Careful there Darkheart. You sound awfully full of yourself. Shut up. I snickered slightly before the PDA was held out to me again.
Celty: So what city are you from?
Celty: And why did you come down here?
I shook my head with a small sigh. "I'm not sure how much to tell. But the reason I came down here was to...get away from someone. Let's just say that." I said, avoiding her gaze through her helmet. She gave me a questioning look but I just brushed it off. "Well, well, well. If it isn't my favorite student and favorite transporter!" Me and Celty shot a look at the cheery raven walking up to us. I just kinda glared at him. "I'm your only student the hell are you on about?" I questioned. "Also I see you finally got away from Shizuo." I added. His turn to shoot me a look. "I've never told you Shizu-Chan's name before. How did you...?" He trailed off. "You're and idiot. You really thought that after you told me your name I wouldn't do a little digging?" I questioned. "I am your student after all." I said, rolling my eyes. "That's fair." The raven said with a sigh and shrug. Celty looked from me to Izaya then back again. She typed something on her PDA before basically shoving it in my face nearly causing me to lose my balance.
Celty: You're his student!?
I pushed the PDA away slightly. "He prefers the term apprentice." I said. "And yes. Though not really anymore. He just prefers to still call me that even though I AM ON HIS LEVEL IF NOT HIGHER!" I said, raising my voice while glaring at the raven standing on Celty's other side. He just smirked at me slightly. Celty typed something on her PDA before shoving it at Izaya. After reading it he shrugged. "You never asked. And since when do you care?" He questioned. Celty seemed to be having a momentary freak out before she calmed down. She typed something down on her PDA before showing it to me.
Celty: You said you came here to avoid someone right?
I nodded slightly. "Yeah. That's right. Izaya invited me. Though I have no clue why he would even consider bringing me into Ikebukro. For all he knows I could make things...ten times.....more crazy....than they usually are...." I trailed off as Izaya started laughing. "YOU SON OF A B*TCH!" I shouted. Celty typed something on her PDA before showing it to me.
Celty: How long have you known him?
"Him?" I questioned, shooting a glare at the giggling raven. "Long enough. It's been almost six years since we last came into contact with eachother though." I said.
Celty: How did you two meet?
I shook my head with a sigh. "I don't see why you seem interested in this. But through my uncle. He was one of Izaya's greatest sources and before he passed he wanted Izaya to teach me how to be an Info Broker. Though we've only ever spoken through calls and texts." I answered. Celty seemed shocked.
Celty: You're an Info Broker?
I laughed slightly with a smirk. "Honey I may be young but I'm one of the best on the block. Also what else would Izaya teach me? How to be the most annoying person ever? How to troll people over the internet? Okay granted he did teach some of those things but it was mainly just Info Broker stuff." I said. "She's a fast learner. But she never could wrap her head around hacking a phone with a battery and a screwdriver." Izaya chimed in. I pouted slightly. "How do you do that!?" I questioned throwing my arms out in front of me as if to prove a point. "(Y/N) it's simple." Izaya said, sweat-dropping. "No it isn't. Just give me a name and that's all I need for my hacking." I said, rolling my eyes.
Celty: All you need is a name!?
I shot her a look and a smirk. "Yuppers. As long as the name is true." I responded. She shot a look at Izaya. Before shoving the PDA in his face with a new message. "I brought her here because she's interesting. And yeah, she is dangerous. But so is everyone else worth noting in this city." Izaya said with a shrug. "Speaking of reason why I'm here, where the hell am I going to stay? Didn't you say you could work something out for me? Or was that a lie just so we could meet face to face? Because if so I still have a few back up plans or I could just find a place here. Trust me, I have my ways." I said. "Oh you can just bunk with me for a while. I won't mind. Namie might but I will find it quite entertaining." Izaya said. "Eh whatever. But my only question is, who the f*ck is this Namie person?" I asked. "My secretary." Izaya responded simply. I sighed. "Not like I care. I've fought like eight people today, had to parkour around a train station, and I've also had to run once I got here. Today is just not my day and I'm tired. So really as long as I can sleep somewhere, I'm f*cking good." I said with a shrug.
Celty: You're not even concerned about staying under the same roof as him!?
"Why should I? If anything I'm one of the only people that can actually kill him if he p*sses me off. So I think he'd rather avoid that if at all possible. But also the fact that since I have his name I can find out everything about him. And when I say everything, I mean everything. Secret fears, crushes, weakness, family relations, well I think I'd need a blood sample for that but still. You can see where I'm going with this. If I wanted to I could make his life a living hell." I said with a shrug. Celty shot a look at Izaya. He just shrugged. "She's exaggerating." He said. "Am I now? Want to test that theory?" I questioned pulling out my flip phone. "I'll pass." Izaya said simply. "Good answer." I said, putting the phone away. My normal smirk was replaced with a small lazy smile. "Welp. I've had enough excitement for one day. Geez, eight fights with barely any naps in between?" I questioned, mostly to myself. "Speaking of said fights, what was that interaction between you and Shoto Todoroki?" Izaya prodded. "Wha? Oh you mean the fight between me and Shoto. I just thought I might as well help him out since Izuku helped me out." I said. "Speaking of, how much do you know about Izuku and Shoto?" Izaya questioned. I raised an eyebrow. "I'd say a lot. I don't exactly go prying into their personal lives since they're my friends and everything but I do pick up a few things here and there. Why do you ask?" I questioned, glaring at him with suspicion. "Oh no reason." He questioned with a mischievous smirk. I hopped off the fence before standing in front of Izaya. "Are you implying that there is something I don't know about them?" I questioned. I was only slightly shorter than Izaya who stood at 5'9. So I was still able to get up in his face and glare at him nearly eye to eye. "Oh no. Of course not (Y/N). I'd never imply that you don't know something about your friends." He said. "Sarcasm noted. Start talking." I growled. "No dice." Izaya said. "Either you spill or I'm gonna pull a Shizuo and I'm pretty sure neither of us want that." I growled lowly. "Do. Your. Worst." Izaya taunted. I took a deep shaky breath before walking over to the nearest street sign. I grabbed it and with a little effort pulled it out from the ground. I looked back over to Izaya who seemed to have broken into a cold sweat. "Well....in the words of Shizu-Chan." I grumbled before gripping the street sign with both hands. "IZAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I shouted swinging it around and nearly nailing him in the skull. He ducked under the street sign. "WELP TIME TO BOUNCE!" Izaya shouted running off. I chased after him while taking swings at him. "GET BACK HERE YOU D*MN ANNOYING KNOW IT ALL!!!" I roared chasing him down the street. "NOPE DEATH NOT TODAY!" Izaya shouted in return. We eventually passed by a few people and they were all really confused about what was going on. "Who's the chick with the street sign?" "Someone else chasing Izaya with a heavy object besides Shizuo? Who the f*ck is this person?" "Also how the hell is she carrying a street sign?" "What did that Info Broker do this time to p*ss her off so bad?" "OI WHO THE HELL IS CHASING THE FLEA BESIDES ME!?" Izaya stared booking it double time. "NOPE! I DO NOT WANT THEM BOTH ON MY TAIL!" He shouted. I looked over my shoulder to see Shizuo gaining on the both of us. I hit the breaks watching as Izaya continued running. Shizuo came to a halt next to me without me noticing. I breathed heavily before dropping the street sign and popping my back. "Geez. How does Shizuo carry those things around half the time? Then again I'm not nearly at full strength right now. Otherwise I'd already be on his a*s faster than a bunch of heroes on a group of villains." I mumbled to myself. "D*mnit. Eight fights, parkouring around a train station, and having to run two times all in the same day? I swear I'm gonna kill something." I started grumbling to myself. "Oi, aren't you going to keep chasing him?" I looked over at the blond ex-bartender. "Nope. More fun to just watch him run and tire himself out. Besides I'm lazy." I said. "Okay then....Who the f*ck are you and how do you know the flea?" Shizuo questioned. "I'm (Y/N) and I'm the flea's ex-apprentice." I said. "Apprentice? You're his student?" Shizuo questioned. "Was, his student. If anything I'm on his level or better than him at this point." I said. I turned to look at him smiling slightly. "You might want to get used to me being around here. I'm gonna be popping up more and more." I said. "So you're just the flea's student?" Shizuo questioned. I sighed slightly. "Was. I'm not going to say it again. He taught me how to be an Info Broker, we haven't talked since then. Well minus today. Today was the first time he's contacted me in almost six years." I said. Celty then rode up again this time with a guy in a lab coat riding with her. She pulled over before getting off and sprinting towards me.
Celty: You didn't kill him did you!?
I shook my head. "No, no. I'm just letting him run in terror now. I'd say he's half way to Musutafu by this time." I said. The guy in the lab coat got off the bike and threw his helmet off. "What the hell is going on!? Celty suddenly comes busting in telling me to get on Shooter because apparently a Shizaya child had shown up. WHAT DID I MISS!?" He shouted. I sweat-dropped slightly. "Umm....Who the f*ck is this?" I questioned. "Shinra. He's an underground doctor that tends to patch most of us up once things get ugly. Also what the heck is a Shizaya?" Shizuo questioned. I snickered slightly realizing what that was. "Okay I may act like the two of them sometimes but I ain't no child of theirs." I said walking up the the man in the lab coat. "(Y/N), nice to meet you." I said, extending a hand. He took it. "Shinra Kishitani. But call me Shinra." He introduced. I dropped my hand back to my side before he could jab it with the syringe he was hiding, and yes I could see that. "So I heard that you just showed up randomly, managed to keep pace with Shizuo and Izaya in one of their chases, you're Izaya's student, and was able to rip a street sign out of the ground." He said. I shook my head. "Everything you just listed is true except for the student part. I used to be his apprentice but I'm no longer under his guidance. In fact we haven't contacted eachother for years until today when he finally contacted me and offered to find me a place here in Ikebukro while I'm waiting for things to calm down back home." I explained. "And I swear if I have to tell that story one more time today I'm going to flip. I've already dealt with eight back to back fights with barely enough rest in between, I had to parkour through a train station in order to avoid a pro hero that was chasing me, and I've had to run twice, once when I first got here and the second time when I was chasing around that d*mn smarta*s that I call my mentor. So I swear if anything else happens today I'm gonna...." I trailed off taking a breath. "Sorry. I've already threatened to kill something and things die when their dead so I'm just going to chill now excuse me for about....five seconds." I said taking in a few deep breaths and calming down. "Okay then." I said. "I think I'm good now." I added. I walked over to the safety rail where Celty had parked her bike and I perched myself on the rail facing the others. "So before anyone else asks, yes I'm new. And yes, I left what sanity I have at the door thank you very much. And you might want to get used to seeing me pop around here and there as I'm getting used to the area." I said. I am...so done today. You f*cking said it. 'Can I sleep yet?' 'Not yet. Hold out for just a little while longer Sky.' 'Ugh...' This is fine. More like this is fun. I thought. (Y/N), I know that tone. What are you planning? It isn't me, it's Sparky over there, she just realized that the strongest man in Ikebukro is present. Wait what do you mean-OH GOD NO! A smirk over took my features. "Well....I just realized that I'm in the presence of some of the strongest people around here. The headless rider and the famous Shizuo Heiwajima. D*mn when I'd heard about you two from hacking into Izaya's s*it I was not expecting this. Honestly he describes you two way differently in those digital journals of his. Especially you Shizu-Chan." I said. STOP! STOP IT RIGHT NOW! Sparky do not pick a fight with him I'm warning you. I'm getting the feeling you should stop. Shut it, I know what I'm doing. I thought. A tick mark formed on his forehead. "Oi, the hell are you going on about...And don't call me that." He growled. "Also what is it with that stupid nickname? Honestly it makes you sound like a girl. Is that what bothers you about it so much? Or is it something else entirely?" I questioned now laying on the guard rail, looking up at the sky with a carefree smirk. I noticed Shinra and Celty trying to hold back Shizuo. "No, no. Let him go. I want to see what the strongest man in Ikebukro is capable of." I said. "Do you have a death wish!?" Shinra shouted at me. "Not particularly. At least not now." I said, sitting up still smirking. "But I'll have you know that I'm a lot tougher than I look. So let him go. I can handle this myself." I said. "You spend way too much time with Izaya." Shinra mumbled. "I've known the dude since I was ten, what do you expect?" I questioned. The both slowly released the ragging blond. "Are you trying to pick a fight with me?" Shizuo questioned. "Why yes, yes I am." I responded hopping off the guard rail. At this point a crowd had gathered around and some people had their phones out. I noticed the colors blue and yellow in the crowd. Shizu-Chan grabbed the street sign I had dropped in the street and twirled it in his hand. "Well if you want a fight mini-flea, you're getting a fight." He growled. He let out a war cry before chucking at me with speeds I was not expecting. "Well s*it." I mumbled before ducking under it as it flew right over my head. I smirked slightly standing up. "Whoa! That was faster than I thought it was going to be! Hmm....I'd say that street sign was about twenty five pounds give or take probably more. And I'd wager you threw that with three times the strength of a normal human. So doing the math if that hit me, I'd be hit with..." I trailed off mumbling to myself. "About or around seventy five pounds of force. Yikes." I said. Dark I got that right, right? Surprisingly....yeah. Yeah that was correct. About seventy five pounds of force. I nodded to myself with a slight smirk. "I may not be the smartest out of all of us but I can do basic math." I mumbled to myself.
~Meanwhile With Izaya~
Izaya stared in shock at his computer screen. His cameras picking up all the action clearly. "Namie get the popcorn!" He barked. "What!? Why!?" She questioned. "You remember the apprentice I mentioned that nearly killed me with a street sign today?" He questioned. "Yeah what of it?" Namie questioned. "She's challenging Shizu-Chan to a fight!" Izaya exclaimed. "What where!?" She shouted. "GET THE POPCORN!" Izaya barked.
~Back With (Y/N)~
I walked along the side walk as Shizu-Chan was still on the streets. My hand drifted over to the vending machine I was standing in front of. My hand glided on the surface until it stopped on the corner of the vending machine. "Y'know, the reason I challenged you, is because I like fighting strong people." I said. "It helps me get stronger. After all I can never gain strength if all I do is fight those weaker than me." I pointed out. "I guess that's why I always get into fights and then walk out more disappointed when I win. I've only been beaten in a fight once or twice before. One of those times being today when I finally came across someone who could possibly match my strength earlier. Hell why'd you think I was covered head to toe in bandages? I got my a*s handed to me by, basically the male version of myself. Even if I did miscalculate my attack thanks to the overwhelming power I put into it. Yeah I need to learn to better control myself. But the thing is you're not the only one with unusual strength. I have the same problem. I'm a lot stronger than I should be. I just know how to cover it up better thanks to some of my other...more noticeable talents." I said. I grit my teeth and broke out into a sweat as the corner of the vending machine started to crumble in my grip. "Thing is....It's been too long since I've used my strength. So it's a lot harder to use it now than it was back then. But...you know what they say..." I trailed off ripping the vending machine from the ground with one arm as I panted. "Nothing ventured nothing gained." I said. "HOLY S*IT!" Someone shouted. "Someone is getting this on camera right!?" Another person yelled. I smirked slightly still holding up the vending machine. "D*mn this is heavy!" I said breaking out into a chuckling mess. I glared right at Shizuo with a smirk. "You'd better expect me to be challenging you a lot while I'm here. I want to learn how to use my strength again. Hell I've never told anyone about this before, not even my parents know. But that's besides the point." I said. I laughed a little evilly. "So Shizu-Chan, let's see how you like getting a vending machine chucked at your head." I said. A fierce war cry ripped from my throat as I tossed the vending machine at him. I panted before smirking, eyes wide with excitement. "Holy s*it! I f*cking did it!" I cheered. "I threw a f*cking vending machine! I've always wanted to do that. Scratch that off the bucket list!" I said with laughter in my voice. I heard chuckling and saw Shizu-Chan raise his leg before stomping on the vending machine, crushing it under his foot. "Well d*mn that ain't good." I mumbled. "Not bad kid, not bad. But that's not how you throw a vending machine." Shizuo said. He picked up the slightly crushed vending machine before raising it over his head with both arms. "This is how you throw a vending machine!" He said before chucking it directly at me. "Ah...So that's how it's done huh?" I questioned right before it hit me dead on. My back slammed into the wall behind me as my wounds from the sports festival began to sting again. "Shizuo! Are you trying to kill her!?" Shinra shouted. "What? She was asking for it. Literally." The blond in question pointed out. I groaned slightly before pushing the vending machine off of me. "Ow d*mnit! Now that hurts!" I said pulling myself up using the wall for support. The others stared at me in shock. I groaned again. "Wow. Everything is spinning okay." I said. I chuckled slightly. "That vending machine, I'd say is about nine hundred pounds give or take. Probably less since it was crushed so less mass to get hit with." I said. "You threw that with two times the force of a normal human, so doing the math...that checks out to one thousand and eight hundred pounds of force or close to that number. D*mn how the f*ck am I not dead?" I questioned. I shook my head. I stumbled slightly as I pulled myself away from the wall. "Okay I'm not a ghost or something, can everyone see me? I'm f*cking visible right?" I questioned. Shizuo, Celty, and Shinra all nodded slowly and in unison. "Okay good. So I ain't dead. Guess I am a lot tougher than I look huh? Then again I've been broken over and over since I was four so it makes since at this point." I said mostly to myself. "Welp. With that I'm afraid that I'm going to pass out soon if I don't lay down so Imma just head off now." I said. I heard a ding and pulled out my flip phone. Izaya had sent me what I needed to know to get to his apartment. "Well that's my que. His timing is impeccable as always." I said. I put the flip phone away. "It's been fun. I'll chalk this down as a win for you since I need to withdraw but I'll warn you I wasn't at a hundred percent today. Like I said earlier I've been busy all day. So see you next time Shizu-Chan." I said. With that I quickly limped off into an alleyway, teleported before anyone could notice me back to the park to grab my suitcase since I had left there, then popped into Izaya's apartment/office. "Hello." I greeted before flopping on the couch. "Is she gonna be okay?" The brown haired women who I assumed was Namie questioned. "Probably not. I'll call Shinra just incase. Have Celty bring him over." Izaya responded. "They're probably looking for her, how are we going to explain how she got here so fast?" Namie questioned. "Shortcuts." I mumbled. "What?" She questioned. "Shortcuts. That's what I call my teleportation." I said. "That might actually be convincing if we wait for a few minutes. (Y/N) can you hold out that long?" Izaya questioned. I just groaned. "I'll take that as a yes. You just rest for a little bit." He said. "Remind me to kill Dragonheart." I mumbled before falling asleep.
The moment I set foot in Ikebukro new challenges awaited me. But I wasn't aware of how much of a role this city would play in my rise to new power. Being involved with all the underground activity and being able to let lose and just let my physical strength do the talking with Shizu-Chan really helped surprisingly. In this town, I didn't need my Quirks, well minus teleportation. It was refreshing. Especially since most of the people there didn't even need Quirks to be on par with some of the greatest heroes to ever live. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Shizu-Chan could go head to head with All Might. The concept of Quirks was basically dead in this city. But that was part of the charm. Something always told me that Izuku would find Ikebukro fascinating. But the secrets I would uncover in this city would end up putting me on the path that leads to where I am now. But just like always, that day was perfect. I can still remember the rush I felt when Dragonheart ripped the vending machine out of the ground. I can still remember the force of over a thousand pounds crashing into me. I can still remember the feeling I got when I first felt Shoto's fire. The confusion and determination when the words 'it's your Quirk isn't it' rang in my ears. Everything about that day was perfect. The burns, the wounds, the stinging, the pain. Everything was exactly how it should've been.
"The wonders of Ikebukro are truely endless. It's exciting!"
