Chapter 11: Sparing With Sparky
(Who's the lucky Persona this time? Try to guess based on the title.)
I managed to catch Shoto by the train station. We talked for a bit on our way to school. "Well Darkheart seems content with you now. That's good. Means you got on her good side." I commented. "Who's next?" Shoto questioned. I smirked. "It's a secret." I said. "That's no fair, you told me it was Dark yesterday." He pointed out. "Yeah, but that was yesterday. Today's a new day." I said. He just shook his head. "You're impossible (Y/N)." He said. I smiled. "I take that as a compliment." I said. When we walked inside the classroom Ashido and Uraraka shot me a few smiles. Odd, do they ever take notice to me? I thought. Nope, not that I know of. Well d*mn did you do something that would grab their attention? 'Nothing comes to mind almost immediately.' Velvet are you implying that you have an idea? 'No, of course not. What would I know about this?' 'Guys can you all just chill? Maybe they're just being friendly. We are classmates after all.' But this is kinda sudden though don'tcha think? Chibi has a point. It is quite sudden. Ah, who the f*ck cares? It's just a few d*mn smiles. Like Sky said they could just be acting friendly for d*mn once. No need to go full paranoid on my a*s. I shook my head and sat down as class started.

I walked out to the school gates in a red T-shirt and black shorts and combat boots. I quickly put on my headband, leaving my hair down. Icy Hot was waiting for me by the gates. "Alrighty then. Ready to get your a*s kicked?" I questioned with a smirk. "Dragonheart. You seem fired up." Shoto said. I frowned slightly. "If that was a fire pun I swear I will f*cking kill you. I hear enough of those from d*mn Dark and Sky. Don't f*cking pull that s*it." I growled, pointing at him. "No puns. Got it." He said. I then turned behind me to see the d*mn Hedgehog running at me. I ducked letting him fly right on over me. "F*ck you too Bakub*tch. Have a nice trip. I'll see you next fall a*shole." I taunted with a smirk. "Weren't those technically pun-." "Finish that sentence and you'll be on your a*s faster than A*shole The Hedgehog over there." I cut him off. He just nodded. We made our way to the clearing. I stood opposite him. "Alright then." I said, jumping back so I got a little distance. "Now Dark helped you with Quirk training the other day. I do things differently. Right now we're gonna focus on hand to hand combat skills. Seeing as how you seem to be long range verses close combat. You need both of these d*mn skills, or eventually you're getting your a*s handed to you." I explained. He nodded. I smirked wickedly. "However I'm not gonna be your instructor. I'm your sparring partner. I've found that you learn best when you're in the midst of battle. One two three go!" I shouted rushing him. I threw a punch at his face but he quickly dodged. I swept his legs out from under him causing him to fall on his a*s. "Wow. You're worse at this than I thought." I growled, facepalming. "Not even five moves in and your already on your a*s. Geez." I hissed. He sat up rubbing his head. "Get up. You can't be hurt that badly." I growled. "Well this isn't going to be fun..." Icy Hot grumbled. I smirked. "May not be fun for you, but it sure as hell is fun for me. Get up." I said, offering my hand. He took it and hoisted himself up. "Alright then. First thing I can correct you on is your stance. When someone is rushing you, you've gotta brace yourself. You just stand around like a moron with no proper stance your dead." I explained. "You've also got to keep your guard up. Don't let your enemy into your center line. If they are coming at you to kill you, and they get into your d*mn bubble, your dead!" I growled. I stood next to him kicking his left leg back. "Use your left leg to stabilize yourself." I explained. "Also make sure your right knee is bent slightly. Closer to the ground you are, the better." I added. "You've got to remember to be stable and strong, whether attacking or defending. Getting into a good stance immediately can be the key to wining a fight. Believe me when I say this, a fight will start with a punch, and it sure as hell is gonna end with a punch. Even in the world of Quirks, basic hand to hand and combat skills are necessary steps. You can't fight close range? Then your doomed eventually. Doesn't matter who you are or what Quirk you have. Strength and technique out in the streets isn't going to cut it either. Out in the streets, against a villain with a strong punch, it won't matter how good you are. They punch you hard enough and you weren't ready for it you're out." I explained. "Make a fist." I commanded. He obeyed. I grabbed the wrist of his clenched fist. "Have you ever used a sword before?" I questioned. "Umm....I guess." Shoto responded. "Do you know how to block with one?" I questioned. "Yeah." He confirmed. "Same principles when blocking with your hands and arms." I said. I guided his arm into a low block. Then a middle block. And finally a high block. "These are the three basic blocks that go with this basic stance. Trust me. This is all you'll need when fighting close range. A good stance..." I trailed off guiding his hand so that he could see his own fist clearly. "And a strong weapon." I continued.
I let go of his wrist and backed away from him. Seeing as how we were a little too close. "You need to get into guards and blocks on instinct. Y'know, like how when something is coming at your face you instantly throw your hands up to protect it. It's like that. Throw a punch at me." I said. He did so. I used a high block to knock away his punch, sliding into a stance at the same time. "See what just happened. I saw your fist, and before my mind could come up with anything my body protected me. Muscle memory. The more you practice and drill, the better you'll become. Eventually you won't even have to think in a fight. Your body has practiced different reactions for different scenarios. Keep attacking me. No Quirks though." I added quickly. He threw a few punches, and a few kicks here and there. But I managed to dodge, block, and counter. "See. No matter what you did I was able to react the split second I knew what was coming." I said, dropping my guard. "Take it from a pro Icy Hot. In a fight you don't think or plan. You react. Starts with a punch. Ends with a punch." I said. Shoto nodded. "Now then. I'm going to slow down my attacks and punch at you. All I want you to do, is get in a stance, and protect whatever area I'm aiming for. Simple enough. Let's begin." I said. I got into a stance as did Shoto. We did these movements back and forth until he got the hang of it. Even after we kept at it until his reaction time improved. I nodded, dropping my stance. "You've got your basics covered. Glad your quick to pick up on all this. But now comes the more tricky stuff. Actually doing it while under enemy attack. This was just practice. Let's see if you can handle the real thing." I said, cracking my knuckles. Shoto started sweating a little in nervousness.
~Time Skip~
It took a while but Icy Hot got it down eventually. I was honestly surprised. He seemed to have little to no close combat experience yet he was able to take hits easily and pick up on things quickly enough. He sat down for a minute, needing a break. I tossed him a water bottle. He caught it with ease. "Good work. You're picking up on all this a lot faster than I thought you would. Hell you're picking it up faster than I did that's for d*mn sure." I said while laughing. "You didn't pick up on it right away? But you seem so good at it." Shoto said. I smirked, shaking my head. "Listen Icy Hot. Not everybody is perfect. When I was first learning it took me a few days to get the basics down. The reason I'm good at it right now is because I always practice whenever I'm free." I said while doing a few stretches. "Did you teach yourself?" He questioned. I laughed. "Of course not! It has to f*cking start somewhere!" I barked while laughing. I did a few more stretches before doing a quick back flip to make sure I was loosened up enough. "No. I was taught by Mom. Before she clawed our eye." I said, smirk vanishing. I continued practicing while talking. Not really being able to sit still with the promise of a tournament where I can kick a*s right around the corner. "Mom always suspected that because of father I'd always get into a bunch of scuffles. She taught me the basic few moves, but it never really clicked for me. Yeah, that's right. Fighting didn't click. Sure I was the angry one, but I also felt more fear than the others. The thought of hurting another living being the way my father hurt me honestly made me sick to my stomach back then." I explained. "But, the moves felt natural. And they made me feel strong. Even so I could never get it perfect." I continued. My smirk returned as I sat down next to Shoto with a water bottle of my own. "But then, she did the most unexpected thing possible." I said. I chuckled a little. Eyes cloudy with memories. "She brought out her phone. Set it on the table. Played some music. And she started dancing." I said. Icy Hot looked confused. I laughed. "Yeah. I was confused as f*ck as well. But she encouraged me to join her. And after a while....I did. I mean to a four to five year old it looked fun. Truth be told, it was fun. More fun than I'd had in a long while. Hell, I'd wager one of the most pleasant things from my f*cked up childhood. So instead of combat training, we'd dance. And eventually, the two things merged. That's how I learned. Mom taught me the basic techniques, taught me how to dance, and then combined combat and dancing. That's when it all fully clicked for me. And now, every single time I watch someone fight, whether it be with or without Quirks, I see it all as a beautifully organized dance. Because in essence, that's what fighting is. A deadly dance. I learned through doing, not by someone explaining it to me. I had to be moving. That's how I learned. That's how it clicked for me." I explained. I shook my head. "But that's not important. Sorry about ranting like that. Geez I'm turning into d*mn four-eyes." I said standing up. "So if you know how to dance, what do you specialize in?" Shoto questioned. I gave him a confused look. I then smirked. "Break dancing." I responded. He gave me a look of shock. "Yeah, not shocking at all actually. I mean, the others call me Sparky for a reason. It's because my dancing is explosive and unpredictable. I have a tendency to take styles and techniques from others, and combine them all into my break dancing fighting style. The others tease and call it Spark Style. I have a different name for it though." I said. "And that would be?" Shoto prompted. I smirked offering my hand to him. "Well, since they call me Dragonheart there was only one name I could use." I said. He took my hand and I helped him up. I looked him in the eyes with a wild smirk. "Dragon Dance."

I taught him a few more moves, went over a few more basics, and schooled him once again on proper stances. By the time I was done he was able to block, counter, and strike decently enough. As we were leaving the forest I smirked slightly. "Wanna know a secret Sho?" I questioned. "What is it?" He asked. I held a finger in front of my smirking lips. "You pull out a decent enough close combat move nowadays, and it'll confuse your opponent really quickly. Most people nowadays use their Quirks to fight. So most won't know how to counter moves like the ones I showed you. Remember how Deku got the upper hand on Bakub*tch in combat training? He used a judo flip. I taught him how to use those in one of our sparring matches when we trained for ten months before the entrance exams. And as you saw, Bakub*tch never saw that one coming. One, because it was d*mn Deku and Bakub*tch underestimates everyone, and two, because no one uses moves like those anymore." I explained. He hummed a little. "That does make sense, and close combat is something most might want to fall back on incase the drawback on your Quirk prevents you from using it anymore." He said, mostly to himself. "Now he f*cking gets it." I said, rolling my eyes. "And what did you call that kick earlier?" He questioned. I smirked. "An Axe Kick. You bring one of those to the table and the other dude doesn't have a prayer. It can easily shatter someone's spine if you're strong enough. So use it with care and all that BS." I said. I shook my head. "But I would call it one of my best moves. It's violent sure. But I'm suppose to be the f*cking violent one. And I don't give a d*mn if I stop a villain by breaking their spine. Besides that's not the only deadly thing in my arsenal. I've also got the Flying Triangle Choke. Combine those two into Dragon Dance and I've already-THINK FAST!" I shouted ducking just as Bakub*tch charged over us. Looks like Shoto dodged just in time as well. I sat up straight dusting myself off before glaring at the hedgehog on the ground. "D*mnit Hedgehog! I'm trying to have a conversation here!" I shouted. Shoto looked around. "We're already at the front of the school." He observed. "THE HELL! DOES THAT MEAN YOU WERE WAITING TO AMBUSH ME YOU D*MN A*SHOLE!?" I shouted. Shoto placed a hand on my shoulder. "Calm down, Sparky. You can kick his a*s at the sports festival." He reminded. I breathed in and out, then chuckled. "Heh, I suppose you've got a point Icy Hot. Yeah, yeah, I'll hand his a*s to him at the sports festival. Either that or scare the s*it out of him later. We've still got some time left. Wanna watch a d*mn movie or something?" I questioned. "Sounds good to me. Better than going home." Shoto said while shrugging. "D*mn straight." I responded with a smirk.
~Time Skip~
We walked out of the movie theater laughing. "Geez, that murderer was so f*cking fake I swore I was about to burst out laughing when everyone jumped!" I barked. Icy Hot chuckled. "The fact that the jumpscares got everyone was priceless." He added. "Oh definitely. Trust me, you think that was scary? Meet my Dad when he's in a mood!" I joked. Shoto laughed a little more. "I like how we went in there to watch a movie but come out laughing at how bad it was." He pointed out. "Well being honest we've both seen something scarier. That being our dads. And we f*cking live in a world with actual murderers and villains. So those d*mn horror flicks don't work as well as they used to." I pointed out. "We live in a society where almost everyone can defend themselves in some way, and where we have heroes watching our backs. Yeah. Horror films shouldn't scare us as bad as they used too." Shoto agreed. "And yet look at all the b*tches in that movie theater. 'Oh noooo! What if a big bad villain comes after me?'." I said in a mocking tone, causing him to laugh even more. After that we just walked to the train station in silence. "Question." Shoto said suddenly. "Shoot." I said. "Why is Darkheart the evil one and yet you're the violent one?" He questioned. I laughed slightly. "Believe it or not I'm probably one of the more sane of the personalities. Darkheart is sadistic and clever. She's the f*cking mastermind out of all of us. Well, (Y/N) is the true mastermind but you get my point. But Dark is the one that has more twisted ways of thinking. And unlike the rest of us her rage is silent. You'll never know she's p*ssed about something until it's too late. And trust me she gets p*ssed a lot. Not as much as me since I'm p*ssed at the world and what not but you get the gist. And there's also the fact that....." I trailed off. "What is it?" Shoto questioned. I sighed. "In a society like this people believe that there's only two d*mn sides. Villains, and heroes. But that's far from the f*cking truth." I said. "Not everything is black and white. And there's a shady a*s grey area between the sides of hero and villain. That's where Dark resides." My voice grew darker as I shot Shoto a glare. "Darkheart is an Info Broker. And a good half the time she drags us all on her d*mn jobs because we share this body. And tell anyone this and you'll have a lot of trouble on your hands." I growled. He nodded. "I kinda already knew." He said honestly. "I'm sorry, what now?" I questioned. He chuckled. "I saw...I guess it was Darkheart on the phone taking a job one time at the train station. I didn't know what to do or what was going on so I didn't say anything." He said. I facepalmed, once, twice, three times. "Darkheart you absolute moron this is why we don't take jobs it public you d*mn idiot." I hissed. I sighed. "Look, so long as you don't tell anyone we're good. Am I clear?" I questioned. Icy Hot nodded. "Good." I said. I rested my arms behind my head with a blank expression. I yawned slightly. "You know what? Screw waiting for the train." I said. "Hm?" Shoto hummed. I grabbed his hand and activated Monster Soul. I snapped my fingers and we were now in front of his house. "Here we go. No need to be anymore late than we already were." I said with a smirk. "What the...?" He trailed off. "As Sky calls them, shortcuts." I said. "You mean Teleportation." Shoto said. I shrugged. "Whatever you want to call em' man." I said dismissively. "Anyways, thanks for hanging with me." I said. "Thanks for helping me train." He responded. I lingered for a second. "Umm, Dragonheart you're still holding my hand." He pointed out. I flinched slightly releasing his hand a little smoke rising from me with a blush on my face. "Oops sorry." I said scratching the back of my neck nervously. "A-anyways I've got to get a move on." I said. I ruffled his hair. "Good work today. Later." I said. I teleported into my room and calmed myself down before I burst into flames like last time. I just collapsed onto my bed before screaming into the pillow. I did that until I fell asleep.
~Meanwhile In (Y/N)'s Mind~
We all stared at the passed out Dragonheart. "Welp, that makes two." Sky said. I sweat-dropped. Darkheart pushed her glasses up. "Geez. He barely even did anything. It's official. The hothead is the easiest one to make flustered." She said. "All Sho did was kiss your hand." I pointed out. "Shut up." She said, glaring at me. Chibi just laughed at us. "You all soooo like him!" She said. Velvet and Sky sighed. "He has not yet gotten to either of us." Velvet pointed out. Sky shrugged. "I highly doubt he'll get to me." She said. "Yeah, Sky's not easily impressed." I agreed. Velvet smirked. "Velvet don't you dare." Darkheart growled. "Hahahahaha! He totally won't get to Velvet! If anything she'll get to him!" Chibi said flopping back into the bean bag. "Velvet don't do anything unnecessary." Darkheart growled. "We don't need another Kyoto incident." I agreed. Sky shook her head with a sigh before sitting on the couch and dozing off. I sat in the chair dozing off myself while Velvet went over and grabbed a book from the bookshelf.
Persona Analysis: Dragonheart
Dragonheart is a powerful and unique Persona and shockingly is the most mentally stable out of every last one of them. Dragonheart feels more fear than the other personas which is why she lashes out the way she does. She lashes out at things that scare her and don't make sense to her, it's her defense against the world. She doesn't have many to fall back on besides the other personas, but they're all different versions of herself so it can get a little awkward. Dragonheart likes anyone who's gutsy and strong enough to fight back. She especially likes people who are bada*s, mostly because she wants to fight strong opponents. She likes fighting, being the naturally violent one, but she's a tad more on the emotional side. She doesn't understand other emotions however, so she defends herself by lashing out at anyone and anything that makes her feel weird or uncomfortable. She's been learning to keep the cap on but there are some times when she lets it slip. To which she goes to her favorite punching bag *cough* *cough* Bakugo *cough* *cough*. Although her violent tendencies and overall sadistic nature tend to lead others into thinking she's nothing but a hot head, she's actually very battle smart, and knows her way around different tactics and styles of fighting. She's shockingly smart so long as it comes to battles, though a good half the time all the tech stuff goes over her head. Give her a task that she can punch her way through? Bingo, you've got yourself a lean mean killing machine right there. But she does have a tendency to hate people, especially those of the male gender. She's a good judge of character typically but half the time is too blinded by rage to notice things. Though she has taken a surprising liking to Shoto Todoroki. Which is odd since she typically dismisses all males as a*sholes and selfish jerks. She got most of these views from experiencing her father's abuse, her brother's hatred of her, and Bakugo's constant bulls*it. So she's wary around males for the most part. Which is why it's so unusual for her to find Shoto an interesting individual whom she can open up too. Dragonheart hates just about everyone, and especially hates people that are a*sholes to others. Even if she is kind of an a*shole herself. Though she's somewhat justified since she's the representation of all of (Y/N)'s bottled up anger and negative emotions. Which is why she's the 'punch first, ask questions later.' Persona.
