Chapter 10: Conspiracy Theories And Coffee

~Izuku's POV~ (which persona is Shoto hanging out with this chapter? See if you can guess based on the title.)

I was walking to school today thinking about how I would train for the sports festival, when I saw Todoroki and (Y/N) walking together. They seemed to be talking about something, but hadn't noticed me yet. I walked a little closer to hear what they were talking about. "...Fine, but I'm expecting you all to help me train in that case." Todoroki said. (Y/N) hummed a little. "I suppose that can be arranged. But you might want to win over the others first. Some of them take a while to warm up to people." She said. 'You all?' 'Others.' 'Them?' What are they talking about? I thought. "In that case maybe I can hang out with one of them after school. Didn't you say you have schedules or something like that?" Todoroki questioned. (Y/N) closed her eyes for a minute. "I think today is...." They walked further so I couldn't hear what she said. What the heck...? I thought.

~Shoto's POV~

I sighed slightly, walking into class right behind (Y/N). A lot of the students were already there surprisingly. "Looks like we arrived a little bit later than normal." I said. (Y/N) shrugged. "Eh, can't be helped. Oh shoot! I forgot Aizawa's forcing me to wear the school uniform now. Be right back Sho." She said. She ran back out the door with a slightly annoyed expression. I chuckled a little bit at her hatred of skirts. I sat at my desk only for it to be surrounded by a majority of the class. Specifically the ones curious about (Y/N) and a few of the perverts. "So, did you find out anything about (Y/N)!?" Kaminari questioned. "Why do you care so much?" I questioned, glaring at them slightly. "C'mon! You yourself was the one to bring up that we didn't know all that much about her! You must have found something!" Ashido said. "I didn't find anything." I lied.

~Flash Back~

I stared at the others, confused. Darkheart pushed up her glasses. "Tell us Shoto. Are you familiar with Multiple Personality Disorder?" She questioned. "Um, yes. I am aware." I responded. "It's when a person has multiple personalities in one body correct?" I questioned. Darkheart nodded. "In that case this shouldn't be all that hard for you to wrap your head around." She said. "But that's how MPD worked back then, nowadays in the age of Quirks, at least for us, it works a little bit differently." She added. "Say someone has MPD while also holding the genetic mutation that leads to the formation of a Quirk. What do you suppose happens?" Darkheart questioned. "Each personality, in theory, should have different Quirks and characteristics relating to the original. In simple terms, meaning that all personalities have different minds, styles, tastes, strengths, weakness, etc. etc. All while sharing the same body." Darkheart explained, pointing at (Y/N). "However, what do you think would happen to a new generation that is showing signs of a Quirk while also developing Multiple Personality Disorder?" She prompted. I thought for a second. "Well seeing what's in front of me right now I'm going to assume that a Quirk manifests and effects all the personalities as well, not just the original." I said. Darkheart smirked as did Velvet and Dragonheart. "Well, well, well, not only is he powerful as all s*it but he also gets Darkheart's science mumbo jumbo." Dragonheart said while laughing. "Yes. Brains, strength, and cute too. This one is a keeper (Y/N)." Velvet commented. (Y/N) blushed before glaring at her, Velvet didn't flinch but a little sweat did roll down her forehead. "Don't make me use Mental Master to shut you the hell up." (Y/N) growled. "You're not wrong Shoto. But your a little off. There's more to it than that. You see a Quirk didn't appear and effect the personalities. We are direct products of (Y/N)'s true Quirk." Darkheart explained. "My Quirk is called Persona. I was already developing MPD because my siblings, mother, and father all basically abandoned me and I started to have imaginary friends as a coping device. Once Persona fully took form, those friends, or sisters, became my other personalities. Different aspects of myself. Persona reacts weirdly to reflective surfaces. Whether it be water, a mirror, or just glass in general, if it can show a reflection it'll show the personas that aren't in control at the moment. And I can speak to them directly instead of in my mind. Right now I'm in control of my own body, so my personas are what you're seeing in the mirrors. And Persona gifted each of my personalities, and myself, with one or two smaller Quirks that make up the entire whole." (Y/N) explained.

"Each of us are part of the (Y/N) you know. And you've had run ins with some of us before. For example the first time you met her at the train station that was (Y/N). However when you talked with her during the Quirk assessment test you were talking to me." Darkheart explained. "Dragonheart over there represents her pent up anger and violent nature. She controls the Quirk, Devil's Flame, that you are so accustomed to seeing. The drawback on her Quirk however is that if she over does it she burns herself and can run out of energy pretty fast if she's not careful." She continued. Dragonheart lit her hand on fire with a crazy smirk that screamed 'don't f*ck with me and I won't f*ck up your life'.

"Velvet is (Y/N)'s more passionate and charming side. She holds Demon's Devotion and Devilish Charm. Demon's Devotion gives her the power and abilities of a demon so long as she's made a promise, pact, or some form of contract with a person. However if she fails to fulfill that promise, pact, or contract she'll go through intense pain that could kill her. Devilish Charm overall just makes her charming to anyone, males or female. Some people can be immune to her charms but if she uses it too much....let's just say there was an incident in the past where we took a trip to Kyoto and Velvet may or may not have seduced 90% of the male population." Darkheart said, sweat-dropping. Every one of them paled at the mention of that. Dragonheart even got a look of terror on her face. "Never again." She said rubbing her arms as if to bring back her warmth. Velvet shook it off quickly, giving me a small bow. "I live to serve (Y/N) and the others to the best of my ability. Just let me know if there is anything I can help you with as well. Your wish is my command." She said shooting me a smirk her red eyes turning into slits then back again, causing my heart skip a beat. Holy crap they weren't kidding about that charm factor. I thought. They all shot glares at Velvet. "C'mon Velv don't give the poor boy a heart attack!" "I don't want to be banned from U.A. too Velvet!" "Women, chill." They shouted at her. "My apologies. It just happens." She said, giving me a normal smile. "Question, why is she in a butler outfit?" I questioned. "She likes the feel of it. Besides she's an anime obsessed lunatic and loves butler anime." (Y/N) responded. Velvet just blushed slightly. "N-now then let us move on with introductions." She said avoiding eye contact.

"Sky is (Y/N)'s laid back lazy side. Her Quirk, Monster Soul, allows her to summon bones, Gaster Blasters (those skull things that shoot lasers), it also allows her to teleport, and use telekinesis." Darkheart continued. A blue mist surrounded Sky's right hand as her neon blue eye started glowing. "I'm here to give people a bad time if they mess with us. I may be lazy but I'm smarter than I let on." She said. "The drawback of her Quirk is that if she uses it too much she'll tire herself out and fall asleep in the middle of whatever it is she was doing. Making it very dangerous, both to us and our enemies." Darkheart explained. "She's also very punny." She added with a wink. Sky chuckled and everyone else groaned. "Well, I may be punny, but not so much when I've got a bone to pick with someone." Sky said with a wink as well. I chuckled a little bit, not noticeable. "Onto the next." Velvet said.

"(Y/N) is basically the medium for all of us. She's the main mind. Only she's not as dark as the rest of us. She's cheerful and a little shy truly. Her confidence stems from the rest of us." Darkheart explained. "HEY!" (Y/N) shouted, a blush present on her face. "She's the main holder of Persona but she also holds Mental Master, and Mind Play. Mental Master guarantees her victory over anyone when it comes to mental combat. And it allows her to take hold of someone else's Quirk so long as it's mental based. Mental Quirks have no effect on her thanks to Mental Master. It also makes sure that none of us can take over her mind forcefully so long as she uses it against us. Though trust me, some of us have tried." Darkheart continued, shaking her head slightly. "Mind Play, allows me to project images into up to five people's heads at a time. I can make them think something is there, when really it isn't. Kinda like with illusions only a little stronger. Drawbacks for both of these Quirks are roughly the same. I get headaches and migraines if I over do it. However the ones I get from Mind Play are far worse than the ones I get from Mental Master." (Y/N) explained. "I see." I said, humming to myself a little.

"Now Chibi over here is just an innocent Sun Child." Darkheart deadpanned. Dragonheart grabbed the tiny pig tailed, (H/C) haired female, and held her out. "I mean look at this! This is the face of everything f*cking adorable!" She shouted. Chibi tried to wiggle her way out of Dragonheart's grip. "SPARKY! LET ME GO!" Chibi shouted. She stopped and crossed her arms with a childish pout. "Don't make me have to kick your butt!" She yelled. Oh my God. I thought, snickering slightly at how cute the tiny girl was. Dragonheart set her down. "Her Quirk is called Sugar High. Basically it gives us unlimited amounts of energy as if we were on a sugar high, hence the name. This only lasts however for fifteen total minutes. Afterwards we have a sugar crash and have to either sleep of just rest for a while. It takes a good ten minute sleep before Sugar High can be used again." Darkheart explained. Chibi jumped into Sky's mirror climbing up onto her head before fist pumping the air. "I'm gonna rule the world one day!" She declared firmly. This caused (Y/N) and the others to start laughing and chuckling.

"Then of course there's me." Darkheart said, pushing up her glasses again. "I'm (Y/N)'s smart and logical side." She continued. "Correction. You're a nerd." Dragonheart said with a smirk. Darkheart got a tick mark on her forehead. "Nope. You're a smart a*s. That's better." Dragonheart taunted. More tick marks. "Yeah. And she's the evil one too." Sky said dismissively. (Y/N) sweat-dropped. "Guys I'd stop messing with Dark if I were you." She cautioned. Chibi just laughed. "No, I would actually reason that she is the emo one." Velvet said with a smirk. (Y/N) face palmed. "Guys. I'm warning you." She said. Just then Dark was gone from her mirror then reappeared. The others that were teasing her fell out of view with a thud. "Now then." Darkheart said, pushing up her glasses. Chibi just laughed even more, now sitting on Darkheart's head. (Y/N) sweat-dropped. "What did I tell ya'?" She questioned while facepalming. "But yes. As they said I'm the smart one, the emo one, and to some extent the evil one. I prefer controlling things from the background and being ten steps ahead of everyone else. My Quirk is the one you've been told belongs to our father. Shadows. As we explained a while ago I refuse to use this Quirk and instead rely on the usage of Devil's Flame and hand to hand combat skills. Even though I'm not talented at hand to hand like (Y/N), Dragonheart, and Chibi are. But besides it being our father's Quirk I also don't use it because over usage of Shadows ends up corrupting the user. Making them slowly lose their sanity and eating away at their soul." Darkheart explained. "I've also got a dark sense of humor and I tend to be the shadow of (Y/N) and Dragonheart." She said with a wink. Dragonheart groaned slightly. Still not visible in the mirror. "F*ck you and your s*itty puns nerd." She growled. (Y/N) closed up the mirrors before turning to me and giving me a side glare. "I'm gonna have to ask you to not tell anyone about this. Especially about Chibi, Sky, and Velvet. My father already knows about me, Dragonheart, and Darkheart's abilities, but he has yet to be aware of Chibi and the other two. We can discus terms later for keeping the secret of Persona. But right now I have to go home. I'll talk to you later Sho. Bye." And with that she ran off after picking up her stuff.

~Flash Back End~

The others kept pestering me about it but I just blocked them out. Eventually they left the topic and went back to their seats. When (Y/N) came back in the uniform she still had on the classic hoodie that from what I gathered was Darkheart's. She growled a little in annoyance then sat down at her desk. A small dusting of pink on her cheeks.

~End Of School, Your POV~

I was in the girl's bathroom changing out of the uniform. The mirror rippled revealing Darkheart. "It's my turn today." She reminded. "I know." I responded. "But Sho's going to be spending the evening with you. I hope that's alright." I said. "Training or just hanging out?" She questioned. "Either. You two can decide." I said. Darkheart sighed. "Very well then." She said. I put on a black undershirt and black pants before slipping on my hoodie. I tied my hair into a pony tail as my (E/C) eye turned red. I slipped on my glasses and then my black combat boots. I stuffed the far too girly uniform into my bag before throwing it over my shoulder and walking out of the bathroom. I walked to the front gate where Shoto was waiting for me. He had already changed into casual clothes as well. "Darkheart." He greeted quietly, giving me a polite nod. I nodded back. "So will we be training today or do you want to just hang out? I know great places to be around here." I said. He hummed a little. "I think I'd actually like to train if you don't mind. With the sports festival right around the corner I'd rather be well prepared for it." He said. I nodded. "Keeping your eyes on the prize. That's good. In that case we can head off to the place we were yesterday." I said, pushing up my glasses. He nodded. "Let's go then." He said. And so we began walking off.

Once we got the the clearing in the small forest I stood next to him. "Now then. What are you looking to improve. Range? Distance? Power?" I questioned. "I mostly want to make sure that it's fast. Quick victories before I can get tired." Shoto responded. "Hmm...Your ice is already quite quick. I'd say It'd be hard to avoid either way. But we might want to work on size. Knowing U.A. they're most likely going to have some large targets to take out the competition first few rounds. So size and speed. That's what we should focus on." I reasoned. He nodded in agreement. "Now then. I actually do know a surprising number of facts about ice Quirks. And I've already taken in a few facts about your ice from the few times I've seen you fight." I said. "Your Quirk works by making the air around your right side freezing cold, causing ice to form. A more advanced form of Cryokinesis. Correct?" I questioned. He nodded. "I assume the same applies for your fire side, but we're not using nor focusing on that. But that does bring us a step closer to improving your Quirk's capabilities. Understanding how it works is the corner stone of improvement." I said. "Now then, try summoning as much ice as you can. I've only seen you freeze over large masses of lang, aka, the building for combat training and the landslide zone when we were fighting the villains. But throw up the biggest ice wall you possible can. Make it as thick as possible, I want to see what I'm working with here." I said. He did as told and summoned up a very large ice wall that went right over the trees, even clearing a few of them. He breathe out releasing a cold mist. So that's the drawback, he'll start getting frostbite and most likely get slower if I had to guess. I thought. I walked over to the ice and placed my hand on it. Steam rose quickly and after a few minutes I had the entire thing melted with purple flames. "Okay then. You managed to throw that up pretty d*mn quickly. And it took a while for me to melt it with some of my stronger fire. I'd say speed and size aren't much of an issue." I said. "However..." I said trailing off, shooting him a look. "It seems that you're a little cold over there Shoto. I can see why both your powers would make you almost unbeatable. The fire aspect of your Quirk would be able to contract the chill you get from your ice. I guess it works same way around as well. But since you absolutely refuse to use your fire, just like how I refuse to use my shadows to cool myself off after a fire attack, you need to build up your resistance to the cold. So I'd suggest using powerful ice attacks like that more often, and see where you go from there. Pushing past your limits is the best way to expand them. Trust me, (Y/N), Dragonheart, and myself all pushed ourselves to a point where our limits broke and expanded. That's the only reason I can go up to 50% blue flames now. Before I could only use 35%. Not nearly as powerful." I explained. "I see." He said, nodding slightly. "Now then, I can only help you understand and push past the limits of your Quirk. I can't do much else. My skills are for planing and thinking things through. If I used Shadows sure I could be more of a fighter, but because Devil's Flame is not my actual Quirk I can't use it as properly as (Y/N) or Dragonheart can. We can use eachother's Quirks sure, but it's not nearly as powerful as the original holder of the Quirk using it. So, to some extent, I'm one of the weaker personas. Because of that handicap." I explained. "But since (Y/N)'s the main mind she can use all of your Quirks just as efficiently." Shoto said. I smirked a little. "You catch on quickly. Yes. Since (Y/N) not only holds Persona, but Mental Master she can master all of our Quirks. That makes her the most powerful, not just because she's the main mind and the reason we're all here. You're very quick to understand and except all of this." I pointed out. "In a world like this who's to say what is and isn't possible with Quirks? The though of a Quirk like Persona isn't that far off. And I've got living proof right in front of me after all." He said. "Touche." I responded. "I like the way you think. Anyways let's move on. Now that we've got a basic understanding of what level your ice can go to before you push yourself let's actually work with pushing yourself." I said. This continued for a while until about thirty minutes later when Shoto was completely worn out. "Well then. I think that's enough today. We've been able to improve your Quirk a little which is always a good thing. Now combine that with some of Dragonheart's hand to hand combat expertise and you've already got a half decent arsenal there Sho." I said offering my hand to him. He grabbed my hand and I helped pull him back to his feet. "How about we head to the cafe and get you some coffee. I'd actually like to get to know you a little better if you don't mind." I said. He nodded, still out of breath slightly. I had him doing those large scale ice attacks until he collapsed. Every now and then helping with the frostbite. We picked up our stuff and made our way back to the school area before making our way to the cafe close by. Unaware of a few of the girls and boys who had stayed at school to hang out had seen us make our way there.

Once we had sat down and placed our orders it was followed by a awkward silence. "You seem to have a vast knowledge of Quirks." Shoto pointed out, breaking the silence. I smiled brightly. "Oh. Yeah I really do. I've just always found the concept of Quirks so interesting, just the fact that they're so different and unique. It's interesting to study actually. I devote a majority of my time to studying and gathering intel on many different Quirks, their strengths and weaknesses. And I've also pondered, if a person has a Quirk does that Quirk shape who they are as a person? Or does the person effect the Quirk? I've always found this question an interesting one to think about. Especially after Bakugo's bullying incidents. Honestly he's the best example and the one who got me questioning this in the first place. Apparently even before he got his Quirk he was full of himself, but according to Izuku he was nicer. But after he got his Quirk he became more rough around the edges, making him difficult to deal with. But at the same time it's my belief that he became the way he was because of all the praise he got from adults and other kids. So the question remains, did the Quirk Explosion come to Bakugo because of his personality, or did he only become like that because his Quirk influenced him? It seems, to me at least, that everyone's personality seems to match with their Quirk. You could even call myself an example of such. (Y/N)'s multiple personalities and Persona. Doesn't it seem a little odd-." Shoto chuckled a little bit. I blushed a little in embarrassment. "Ah, sorry. I was ranting again." I said. "Honestly I don't mind it. It is an interesting topic. And it's nice to hear that your so passionate about it." He responded. This caused me to blush a little more. He...doesn't mind my ranting? Most would've told me to shut up half way through it....This really is interesting huh? I thought. I scratched the back of my neck. "Most won't ever let me go in depth when I'm ranting about something. Not even Izuku. This is the first time I've been able to talk about this theory actually." I said. "Really? But it does seem like an interesting topic. And you bring up some valid points. Does a person's personality shape their Quirk? Or does the personality shape around the Quirk? I mean, look at the Quirks each one of you got. The one that's angry all the time got the fire Quirk. You, the one who plans from the background and prefers to stay hidden, got the shadow Quirk. The lazy one got the Quirk that makes them fall asleep in the middle of whatever they were doing after over usage. The hyper child got the Quirk that gives her more energy. And so on so forth." Shoto pointed out. "You bring up a good point. I really like the way you think. Very perceptive. So, what do you think about it? Does a personality shape the Quirk, or do Quirks shape the personality?" I questioned. He hummed a little as our drinks and sweets were brought to us. "I think Quirks shape a person's personality. Because if personalities shaped the Quirks then everyone would have the perfect Quirk for them. So I think most of the time a person's personality end up the way they are based on their Quirks." He reasoned. "Sound reasoning, sound reasoning." I agreed while nodding. "And that does hold truth, technically our personalities didn't form until (Y/N) received Persona, which is when we got our Quirks and our personalities took form." I said. "Any more theories you've got about Quirks?" Shoto questioned. I smirked. "A few, a few. But it make take a while." I said. "I've got time." He said. "More like you want to get away from your father." I deadpanned. He chuckled, cracking a small smile and leaning back in his seat. "Your one to talk." He countered. "Touche."

Theories were tossed back and forth about Quirks until the cafe was about to close. We walked out laughing slightly. "And then I said, knife to meet you." I finished the story. Shoto chuckled. "You had to end it with a pun didn't you?" He questioned. "Of course. I've mustered the art of puns a long time ago, and I relish in each one I make." I said, causing him to snicker a little more. We stopped right outside the cafe. I turned to Shoto with a bright smile. "Thank you for spending time with me. It's been a while since I've been able to properly rant about something like that." I said. Shoto nodded. "It was refreshing to just relax and toss theories back and forth. I enjoyed myself. Thank you for inviting me." He responded. "Anytime Sho." I said. He shot me a small smile. I held out my hand. "I look forward to spending time with you again. Please, let me know if you ever need to rant about something. I'm always around to lend an ear." I said. He shook my hand. "I'll make sure to do that." He said. He lingered there for a second before bringing my hand up and kissing it. This caused my face to explode red. He chuckled at my reaction. "Well see you later." He said walking off. I just stood there shell shocked for a minute before I burst into flames. DARK YOU'RE ON FIRE! Oh my God! She likes him! She likes him! 'My, my, this sure is interesting. Never expected him to show such a gesture on the first date.~' THAT WASN'T A DATE! AND THAT WAS JUST A FORMALITY! You sure? Why you making such a big deal about it then nerd? D-d*mnit shut up! WE'RE STILL ON FIRE!!!!!

~Shoto's POV~

I power walked away hiding the blush on my face. I felt my fire half spark a little bit quickly got that under control. WHY DID I DO THAT!? WHY DID I DO THAT!? WHY DID I DO THAT!? UGHHHH THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME!?

~Stalker's POV~

Kaminari, Ashido, Izuku, Uraraka, and Iida all stared in shock at what they just witnessed. "Were they....on a date?" Uraraka questioned. Kaminari clenched his fist. "Todoroki you b*stered!" He cursed. Ashido was jumping up and down. "Oh my God! I ship it!" She whisper-yelled. "We shouldn't have watched that. How did you all convince me to do this!?" Iida said in a slightly panicked tone. "But still it's odd for Todoroki to show emotion. I don't recall ever seeing him laugh or smile before." He added. He knows something. He must have found something out. But I've known (Y/N) for years! How could he know something I don't? Todoroki how did you manage this? Izuku thought. "D*mnit! This is because me, Mineta, and Sero convinced him to go watch her!" Kaminari said, anime tears rolling down his face. "You did what now!? Were you trying to get Todoroki-Kun killed!" Izuku whisper-shouted. "Well he's alive isn't he!? And she didn't attack him!" Kaminari said. "I bet you anything that he found out something about her!" He declared. They all heard (Y/N) take a deep breath and peaked back around the corner. The fire around her had gotten out and she was doing a few breathing exercises. "Breath in....breath out. Calm down. T-that was just a formality. Nothing more." She said to herself. She shook her head before slapping her cheeks. Her eyes refocused but she just started walking. Nothing more was said. "A formality? Is she dense or something!?" Kaminari questioned. "Awww, I think they're cute together." Uraraka said. Ashido nodded. "What's even cuter is that Todoroki is like a prince and she's a little Tsundere! I ship it!" She whisper-shouted. Izuku sweat-dropped at the weird reactions of his classmates. "We're going to want to keep a close eye on this." Kaminari growled. Ashido and Uraraka nodded violently. Izuku and Iida just sweat-dropped.

Quirk Profile: Shadows

Abilities: Can turn the user into a shadow, allow them to control shadows and attack with them in different ways, hide in the shadows of others, create stuff out of shadows, can make clones of the user and other people but they have no thoughts or feelings of their own, and allows the user to temporarily open a portal into the Shadow Void or Shadow Realm (two different places, Shadow Void is the space that connects all shadows in the world and is a calming place. Shadow Realm is a place to torture souls and send people that the user believes deserves death).

Drawbacks/Limitations: Over usage can cause the user to slowly go insane and become more prone to violence. It also eats away at their soul making them more cruel to others as well. However these drawbacks can be counteracted by strong emotions such as love and joy or if the user does something painful each time they use the Quirk, keeping their mind grounded through use of pain. Another drawback is that each time the Quirk is used black markings form on the user. These markings are less of a drawback and more of an inconvenience because over usage can make them permanent and it lets the opponent know when the user is about to attack. Using Shadows also lowers the body temperature of the user drastically, almost below freezing. Limitations include the following. Can only turn into a shadow for thirty minutes total. Can only create things from shadows for a total five minutes. Can only hold a portal open for two minutes. Shadows is a Quirk that works best in darkness or when there are lots of shadows in the area. Direct light drastically weakens the abilities and shortens the time limit on the abilities.
