Crap. I woke up with thirty minutes to get ready and get to Todoroki's house. I pull on some clothes and rushed out the door, ignoring my uncle. I run down the street. I would fly but I didn't want my legs to become weak from lack of use. Istand outside of Todoroki's door to catch my breath and rebraid my hair. I knock on the door and not ten seconds later Todoroki opens the door.

"Is your dad home?"

"No."

"Good."

I step inside and Todoroki leads me out to the courtyard. "Ready?" I nod and take off my jacket. Todoroki gets position and I do the same. He begins the battle by sending a massive slab of ice shooting towards me. I think of everything that makes me angry.

My uncle. My parents death. Me being a coward. The water that shoots out of my hands is boiling hot. It melts the ice on contact and steam fills the courtyard.

I run at Todoroki before he can react. I jump into the air and kick him in the shoulder. He falls to the ground. He stays on the ground for a moment. "That was fast. Are you done?" He looks up at me. His hand shoots out and ice slams into my chest.

I sail through the air and use my wings to steady myself while I caught my breath. Todoroki doesn't waste a second and more ice comes barreling at me.

I close my eyes. I imagine all my emotions draining away to make me a cold and hollow shell. It was hard but I put all my concentration into feeling nothing but a cold determination to win. Ice shoots from my hand and collides with his. "How?" He asks. I don't answer. Instead I run at him and swing my leg in an arch. Ice shoots out and scratches Todoroki through the shirt. Blood wells up.

He thrusts out his hands and grazes it my wing and in that split second it ices over. My balance is thrown off and I fall on my ass. Embarrassment washes through me and flushes out my ice. Todoroki's ice shoots up from the ground and the tip points at my neck.

"I win," he says flatly.

"I figured."

He helps me to my feet and thaws the ice on my wing. "How'd you do that?" He asks, referring to my ice. "My water changes forms based on my emotions. The boiling water represented my anger. For the ice I just had to make myself cold and unfeeling and emo."

I laugh,"like you!"

Todoroki furrows his eyebrows.

"Just a joke. It's not funny if you don't get it and take it seriously"

"Why don't you use your fire when you fight," I ask after a few seconds of silence. "It shows my father I reject his power," Todoroki says seriously.

"Whatever works for you," I shrug. "And whatever allows me to beat you in a fight."

Endeavor's PoV

I looked through the window at my son and his cowardly friend. Now that I had seen her fight I saw her true potential.

Perhaps I had judged her too quickly.

I had returned early to find my son training with this girl. If my son would just use his left side he would've won easily. Oh well. He would end this faze sooner or later. I would let him get away with inviting this girl over.

I walk away and leave them to train.

My PoV

I leave around five since apparently Todoroki has a pool in his house. Fuyumi lent me a swimsuit and I showed off exactly how fast I was underwater.

Todoroki offered to walk me home but I told him it was fine.

He looked tired.

The house was a mess when I walked in. "What happened here?" I ask my uncle. "A few of my drinking buddies came over and we had a few drinks," he slurred. I made some dinner for him and cleaned up while he ate and watched tv. I wished more than anything to be at school.

Todoroki's PoV

I walk outside to the courtyard and see something on the ground. I pick it up to get a better look.

(Y/N)'s jacket.

I could wait until school or just walk down the street and give it to her. I decide to just give it to her now and leave the house.

Outside her house I could hear a man shouting. I quickly knock on the door. "I'll get it!" I hear (Y/N) yell. She sounds like she's been crying. She opens the door and sure enough her eyes are red and puffy. She closes the door behind her. "What are you doing here?" She asks. "You forgot your jacket," I say and hold it up.

She looks down at her tank top and quickly grabs it. "OK, thanks, see you at school," she opens the door and slams it in my face. More yelling and then silence. What was going on in there? I walk away feeling like I should go back. I turn around and notice one window had the blinds open.

It wouldn't hurt if I took a peek.

My PoV

I felt bad about pushing Todoroki away but right now I needed him and everyone else away. My uncle didn't like when I said he couldn't bring his friends over anymore. As soon as I walk back into the living room an empty glass bottle explodes by my face. I fall down to the ground and shield my body with my wings.

"I'M THE MAN OF THIS HOUSE! I DO WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT!" My uncle screams. "OK OK OK," I cry. I hear him walk away and stay in my little cave until I hear him snoring.

Todoroki's PoV

I stare through the window in horror. I watched as (Y/N)slowly opened her wings back up so I could see her tear streaked face. She shakily walks up to her room. I had the feeling she wanted to be alone. I leave her. I would see her at school.
