I was surprised everyone still treated me the same as before, it made things a lot easier for me. Also I had the feeling that Shoto was happy about it too and that meant a lot to me.
Everyone shared their internship experience and it was the main talk all day. After school I shared a milkshake with the girls before I walked towards the station. I waited for my train which was running late due to rush hour.
"We shouldn't talk about this to anyone, remember we promised not to tell anyone what really happened!" I recognized Ida's voice and looked around to detect him, once I noticed his from I stood up from the bench and silently made my way towards him.
"I know! I swear I didn't say anything to her, it's just that she asked about my internship and I somehow had the feeling she knew" I recognized Midoriya's voice too and my curiosity rise.
"What are they talking about?" I thought and pressed my back against the closest wall to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"We get punished if we talk to anyone about it, we promised All Might and the police!" my eyes widened
"What does he have to do with this? Don't tell me you got yourself in trouble Shoto?" The speaker announced the next arriving train at the platform and everyone entered it, so I thought.
"I'd like to know what they were talking about, it surely sounded odd" I released my back from the wall and took a step forward.
"Is eavesdropping your new hobby or what?" my heart skipped a beat as I looked up into Shoto's eyes.
"W-What?" I said surprised.
"How much did you hear?" he asked, giving me a glare.
"I didn't hear anything important, all I heard was " we cannot talk to this about anyone" and "she kept asking me about my internship"" I confessed, his eyes were still piercing mine looking for any hint if I was lying to him.
"I hope what you say is true" he removed his eyes and turned around.
"Why would I lie to you?" I bit my tongue but it just slipped out "Moron!!"
"I don't know, but you better not" he looked at the time schedule of the train and took a seat on the bench.
I stood a few steps away from him, waiting for the same train. The atmosphere was quite awkward, no one besides us was at the platform.
"Damn how long does that stupid train need??" I thought.
"You know" I raised my head as he started talking.
"I was really shocked this morning when I saw you" my eyes turned sad and I looked away from him.
"I am sorry for that, I did not mean to bring back painful memories I caused you" I apologized.
After that it was silent for a moment, I tightly squeezed the straps of my bag when finally the train arrived at the platform.
"I see you tomorrow" I said, walking a little further in front to not have to enter through the same door as him.
"Why are you saying goodbye when we still have the train ride before us?" he asked, standing right behind me.
"W-Wha" I stuttered confused as the doors opened and we saw how fully packed the train was.
"Oh no..." I thought.
We squeezed ourselves inside and the door barely managed to close, but that wasn't the worst part... he was standing way too close to me, like literally too close!
"I-I'm sorry about that..." he apologized, trying to avoid my eyes.
"I-It's alright, don't worry about it" I replied looking the other way myself. I could feel his breath touching my face and I closed my eyes tightly. The sound of my heartbeat was crazy, I was sure he and the entire train could hear it.
"Please let this ride be over soon!! I beg you!"
The brakes were pulled suddenly and the train stopped, causing everyone to loose balance and so did he. His body fell on mine, pinning me against the door.
"I'm sorry! Are you alright?" he apologized and pushed himself off to check on me.
"I'm fine, please don't worry!" I replied awkwardly, trying to hide my flaming red cheeks.
"Why is this happening now???"
The train diver announced another delay due to rush hour, letting us wait for another 15 minutes in this packed train without much air to breathe. I managed to get my water bottle out because I was drying up inside.
"Do you like some too?" I offered him my water.
"Y-Yeah, thanks" he took it and pressed it against his lips, my head started imaging things like: an indirect kiss and stuff and my blush darkened. After putting the water bottle back into my bag the train finally started moving again, however it surprised me that I did not have the time to gain my balance and fell into Shoto's arms.
"Thank you..." I muffled into his shoulder and stepped back. We did not talk until we got off the train and stood at the crossing that would part our ways.
"I see you tomorrow" I said giving him a weak smile.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow" he replied and I nodded, turning around and walking off first.
"And by the way..." he started.
"I was not shocked because you brought back painful memories, no, it was because I was happy to have the real you back, the one I longed to see for so long".
