"The puppeteer?" I clenched my fists, avoiding his gaze.
"I don't know what you are talking about, there is no such a thing as puppeteer" I replied, trying to keep a steady voice. His eyes sharpened and he turned around to look at me once more with his angry eyes.
"Lies...! Why can't you tell me the truth for once!?" he yelled, clenching his fists.
"You are one to talk! Look at yourself! What happened to you? What happened to your face and why won't you use your left side in battle?" I just yelled out what I meant to ask for a while but I never had the guts to actually ask it since our terms were complicated. But now since both of us were here it was the perfect opportunity.
"You want to hear me speaking the truth to you? But in return you won't tell why you've changed so much!" I could tell from his expression that he was surprised by my question and that he was unsure what to reply to it. I stood up from the floor and walked up to him, this cost me a lot of courage but since I probably won't have the opportunity for a while I was left without a choice.
"I know I have no right to ask you anything at all after what I did, but since you think that my actions weren't my own decision I can't help it but ask you the same... what happened to the boy I used to know? Were did all your spirit go?" I whispered the last part because I was scared he would react allergic to it. He was surprisingly silent and just starred into my eyes without moving a muscle.
"Why did you attend U.A?" he suddenly asked, changing the subject.
"W-What does that have to do with anything?" I looked down, scared to tell him that it was still the same reason as I promised back then.
"I want to hear your honest answer, then I'm going to tell you why I refuse to use my left side in battle and how I got this scar" he offered and I was surprised we actually got this far. After staying silent for a moment I agreed to the terms and started talking, gathering all my courage to tell him what was going on in my head.
"I came to U.A because I want to become a pro hero, that I can become stronger and eventually... fulfill the promise I made you when were kids, I want to be a hero by your side" he was silent, again not saying anything. I looked up to his eyes that only starred into mine, as if he was searching for any signs that I was lying.
"Why is that so important to you? We aren't friends anymore so why are you still working towards that goal?" he asked.
"Because... after all I did to you... this promise I made, is the only one I can't break" his eyes widened and he looked away from me.
"... My mother, she is the one who gave me that scar, purring hot water over my eye because my father made a monster out of me and she could not bare to look at my face anymore" shock washed over my face and my eyes went blank. I never knew about this... his mother, she was always so lovely and caring.
"Because of that, I decided to reject my old mans rotten quirk and only use my right side in battle, I'm going to show my old man that I don't need his quirk to make it to the top" my chest was aching, I had no idea that he suffered so much because of his father.
"Y-You are not like your father... you are you and this will never change, no matter what you think of your left side... this quirk is yours and you have every right to use it as you like! Please don't go down that path because I know you are not like that... you can't let him control your life!" my eyes starred at him painfully and yet serious. All this time I thought it was only me who suffered because of that person but I never thought that he would suffer even greater.
"...I will ask you again, why did you tap out from our match? Were you scared to face me in a fight?" I shook my head, he sure seemed stirred up because of my words and I knew this was not the right time to comfort him especially because he could not trust me.
"I wasn't scared of you..." his eyes sharpened.
"Then what else was the reason for it? You can't tell me you weren't looking forward to this match after you pushed so hard in the obstacle run to beat me" my heart started pounding.
"... There are things that changed in my life too, things that I can't tell anyone not even you at this moment. I decided to quit because I was not ready to take on your anger, because everyone was watching and nobody would have understood why you fought me so seriously... nobody knows about our past and therefore they don't understand why there is this this huge gap between us" he did not reason with my explanation and just accepted it because he could not ask what was lying on his tongue, this wasn't the right time for it.
"If you get another chance to fight me, I want you to be ready to take me head on without any further excuses, can you promise me that?" I nodded.
"Yes, I promise that I will fight you seriously next time" he placed his hands in his pockets and started walking.
"Make sure you don't disappoint me, I have high hopes for our battle" he walked away and I watched how he walked off. A light smile formed on my lips because we finally had a decent conversation were we talked about stuff that stood in the way... and I learned something that helped me understand why he became the person he is now.
"I want to help him... I want to turn him back into the real him, he used to smile a lot when we were kids, I want to see it again, that bright smile that could heal any bad mood"

In the match against Midoriya it was the first time Shoto used his left side in battle. He maybe did it accidently out of anger but Midoriya kept pushing him to use it since it was his quirk. Those emotional words from Midoriya actually reached his heart and in that moment he recalled the conversation with me and a change was triggered. He beat Midoriya with both of his quirks, surprising everyone especially his father who was watching. I felt relived seeing this change since he seemed to resent his father so much that he rejected the quirk even though it was his own power.
In the finals it was Bakugou vs Todoroki, but nether the less of his earlier change he refused to use his left side in the match with Bakugou. In the meeting room everyone chattered about it why he held back his full strength in the match against Bakugou. I could tell that he was torn inside because he could not decide if it was the right thing to do, accepting the quirk he hated. At the end he let Bakugou win but his opponent was not happy about it, he refused to accept this win because it wasn't a fair one in his eyes.

After the sports festival was over, everyone who got injured was treated at the infirmary. Once we were back at class we had to decide upon a hero name. Everyone seemed to have a hard time deciding and I too was thinking about a suitable one. In the end I decided to go with "molecular" since it represented my quirk. I was surprised though that Shoto decided to use his first name as his hero name, I was sure he'd decide upon a different one. Once that was settled we were told by Aizawa-sensei that we had to decide for an internship with a hero agency, therefore he handed out a list for those who weren't scouted just like myself. I looked at the list that was handed to me and I had no idea for what agency to decide. I let out a sigh and placed the list aside, this would be really difficult since I wasn't familiar with too many on the list. After school I walked home, still thinking which agency I should attend for this internship. I noticed my phone buzzing in my pocket and took it out, seeing that it was a call from my mom.
"Hey mom" I picked up the phone.
"Hey there honey! How have you been? Are you alright after the sports festival?" she asked, sounding concerned.
"Uhh yes I'm doing alright" I replied, hoping she wouldn't dig any deeper.
"I am so proud of you! You really did great, your father and I am so proud!" she complimented and I felt happy to hear her words.
"Thank you mom, that means a lot to me" she hummed happily into the phone.
"So how is school? What did you do today?" she asked.
"We got handed out a list with possible hero agency internships" I replied, looking at the list.
"Oh that's awesome! Have you decided for any yet?" I shook my head.
"No I haven't... I don't know for which one" I replied.
"Well if you haven't decided yet then maybe I could ask a client of your father" she suggested.
"Eh? Really? Who is it?" I asked curiously.
"The agency isn't a huge one but it could be in favor for you because the hero who runs it is called: Flower" I raised my eyebrow.
"Are you for real mom? Why would it be in my favor to make my internship there? I am not even familiar with this person" she chuckled lightly.
"Well you see, her quirk is pretty similar to yours when it comes to endure poisoning" my eyes widened.
"Maybe she could help you controlling your abilities better"" I frowned but on second thought she wasn't wrong about it.
"Let me think about it ok?" she nodded.
"Fine, I'll provide her contact information's and if you decide to do your internship at her agency just let her know" I agreed and after we hung up she send me the contact info.
"The agency is in Tokyo... that's quite far from here".
