Ever since the sports festival Todoroki had started to realize some things about himself. And, as days went on and challenges were faced, Todoroki was at his highest point in life despite also being at his lowest.

Sure he had to go to supplementary lessons after school because he failed an exam, but he felt pretty good all things considered. He had gained some friends, fought evil villain's and survived, come to peace with his family (for the most part), and only seemed to be improving the use of his power.

Thats why he made it his next mission to gain Bakugo's trust and maybe even friendship as a fellow classmate and partner in taking supplementary lessons. He had tried on many occasion to start a casual conversation with Bakugo but it usually ended up in him just being yelled at by the other man.

So Todoroki searched the web and tried other methods like making eye contact, smiling, being honest, and even trying to be funny which all ended in failure. Then he came across and article about how to make ones cat like them and feel comfortable around them, and it was perfect.

Yes, he knows all to well that Bakugo isn't a cat but the information provided was perfect and seemed to work on Bakugo. First he made sure to approach Bakugo at the right times, only talking to him when necessary and making sure to let him speak first. The article also said to reward ones cat so Todoroki sometimes stopped at the convenience store and bought Bakugo food which the other man didn't seem to mind.

One of the next steps was to make a comfortable space for ones cat so, since Bakugo already had his own room, Todoroki assumed that meant he should go to Bakugo's room to make it feel like his presence was already around.

The feat was hard and he had to carefully make his way into Bakugo's room every night without being caught. Thankfully the man was a deep sleeper so he could rest by the mans bed without being caught. It was hard to stay awake and most of the time Todoroki fell asleep at the head of Bakugo's bed but he always managed to wake before him with enough time to go back to his room and catch a couple more hours of sleep before school started.

He soon worked himself into a nice schedule where he stayed by Bakugo's bed for an hour or two and still had enough sleep to not feel tired or be dysfunctional the next day. All in all his plan to get Bakugo to be his friend was doing great.

"Are you alright Todoroki? It feels like you've been spacing out for awhile now," Midoriya asked, looking at Todoroki with concern.

"I'm fine, thank you for asking Midoriya," Todoroki responded, forcing his gaze away from Bakugo. The man never even spared him a look outside of their supplementary lessons together which made Todoroki sad.

"Guys, look at this!" Uraraka said shoving her phone in front Midoriya and Iida."If you purchase a meal as a couple they will give you a free couples keychain! Isn't that so romantic! I want to go!"

Iida pushed up his glasses, swiping his hand toward Uraraka with authority."You should be focused more on hero training to hone your mind and body."

"Iida you're no fun," Uraraka said with a pout, turning towards Midoriya."Will you go with me, Deku?"

"W-What?!" Midoriya questioned nervously, shaking his hands back and forth with a bright blush on his face."I...um..."

"O-Oh!" Uraraka shouted, finally realizing what she said with a blush."A-As a friend okay?! A friend!"

Todoroki instantly turned around, meeting Uraraka's eyes with intensity upon hearing the word friend. This could be his chance! If friends did this sort of stuff together then he should with Bakugo.

"Uraraka, where is this place?"

Turns out the place Uraraka was talking about was on the same route Todoroki took with Bakugo, which gave him great relief. Now all he had to do was just casually mention the place and they would be off.

"Bakugo, are you hungry?" Todoroki asked softly, trying not to scare Bakugo to much.

The man turned towards Todoroki, sending him a heated glare that screamed death but he replied all the same."The fucks it to you?"

"Well there's this pancake place thats having a sale and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me? Its on the way back to the dorms," Todoroki said, trying but failing not to stare directly into Bakugo's eyes.

Bakugo didn't say anything for awhile and Todoroki let him think, scratching at a bandage on his face that just didn't seem to stick on. One of the steps to getting ones cat the feel comfortable was to interact at the appropriate times and since it didn't look like Bakugo wanted him to speak, he didn't.

After a long pause Bakugo spoke."Fine. Where is it?"

Todoroki tried to suppress a smile."Its just one block ahead."

The rest of the trip was silent, like usual, and soon they were in front of the shop."Welcome, will it be just the two of you?" One of the waitresses asked, motioning them indoors.

"Yes," Todoroki said back, having her lead them to a table with unease. Would Bakugo be alright in such a place? Sure, the place was practically deserted since it was so late but Todoroki was scared Bakugo wouldn't feel comfortable in such a new place.

When they both took a seat across from each other he seemed comfortable enough, despite his ever present glare. Then they ordered, Bakugo brooding and just deciding on a water while Todoroki ordered a stack of their mini desert pancakes.

After ordering there was a tense silence, Bakugo staring out of the window and Todoroki attempting a conversation. It was a fruitless effort and soon Todoroki's food arrived, the waitress giving them both a smile before leaving with a watchful eye.

Todoroki took an experimental bite, never having eaten this sort of thing before."Delicious," he mumbled, savoring the taste. Then he noticed Bakugo staring and offered him a fork full."Want some?" 

Bakugo forced his gaze back to the window with a grunt but Todoroki wouldn't give up so easily. He pushed the fork closer to Bakugo, staring straight int his eyes."Try some," he said with earnest.

After some careful ploying Bakugo finally gave in, taking a rather aggressive bite and glaring back at Todoroki. He then turned back to look out the window again but Todoroki was satisfied. This was another step in their friendship!

He soon finished the pancakes, motioning to the waitress who was watching them with glee in the empty restaurant. She came over, grabbing their trays and telling them to meet her in the front to pay.

Once she came out from the kitchen, Todoroki payed for the meal since Bakugo only got a water."Oh and one more thing!" The waitress said with a smile, handing Todoroki two matching heart keychains, both saying 'His' on them."These are for the two of you. We a currently giving them out for free to all couples who purchase meals."

Todoroki had completely forgot but took with with a smile. He didn't know if Bakugo would like them but he would be sure to treasurer his and their first official outing as friends.

"Bakugo this is for you," Todoroki said once they got out of the restaurant, handing Bakugo on of the keychains.

"The hell is this?" Bakugo questioned, moving to inspect it closer. Once he noticed what it said he backed away, holding it out like it would infect him."W-What the fuck! I don't want this shit!" He sputtered, trying to give it back to Todoroki.

But Todoroki was already walking away, having already clipped his onto his school bag. Bakugo moved to catch up with him, shoving the article into his bag with a huff. Like hell he was keeping this shit. He would give it back to Todoroki as soon as he had the chance.

That night Todoroki came into Bakugo's room for another night of staying by his side. This time he quietly riffled though Bakugo's school bag and desk, trying to find the others keychain.

When he found it in one of his desk drawers he let out a small smile. So Bakugo kept it after all. He was so happy.

Suddenly the man in question started to shift on the bed, letting out a small mumble that made Todoroki tense for a bit. Then he forced his heart to calm, moving towards Bakugo to look at him.

He had such a peaceful sleeping face, no wonder he wanted no one in his room. If anyone were to see this they would surely fall in love. Plus his lips looked so soft and even his hair that was tossed to the side was just begging to be pet.

Todoroki unconsciously reached his hand out, barely stopping himself from touching the man. Instead he sat on the floor his bed, resting his head against Bakugo's mattress and staring at Bakugo's face.

He was gone two hours later.

For training the next day Aizawa told them all to pair up and spar, though he didn't seem like he was fully awake at the time. After some persuasion, Todoroki got Bakugo to team up with him.

They sparred for a bit but Bakugo seemed off, constantly making rookie mistakes that weren't like him. After some more sparring, Todoroki decided to finally confront him.

"Is something wrong Bakugo?" He asked, forcing them to stop.

"What?!" Bakugo snapped back instantly."Are you trying to pick a fight?!"

Bakugo stormed over to Todoroki, the whole class already watching as soon as Bakugo's yelled. Suddenly the man seemed to trip on his own feet, falling straight into Todoroki's chest.

The whole class held its breath, waiting for Bakugo to pummel Todoroki, even Aizawa readied his power. The whole room got silent and nothing happened, Bakugo's head resting in Todoroki's chest and barely budging an inch.

Todoroki once read something about people needing love when they were in distress so he did just that, wrapping his arms around Bakugo with a smile."See," he whispered."You aren't alright are you?"

Bakugo couldn't get his body to move an inch, eyes wide as he realized how much he was enjoying Todoroki's hug. This wasn't right, he should be smashing his face in by now, so why wasn't he?

"Its alright," Todoroki murmured, ruffling Bakugo's hair like he had wanted to do so many times in the past. It was one of the later steps in the process of cat comforting but he felt it right for the moment, and it looked like Bakugo did to.

He then moved his fingers through the bottoms of Bakugo's hair, pushing his face closer to his chest. His hair was as soft as he thought it to be; it almost made him smile.

Then Bakugo heard the whispers of other students and suddenly snapped out of his daze, pushing Todoroki away with a scowl. He then swiftly moved towards the exit, wanting to get away from Todoroki as quickly as possible.

He couldn't believe himself. First he was distracting himself by thinking about the other man and now he was letting the man pet him? What was going on?

"Where do you think you're going Bakugo?" Aizawa asked, not moving from his spot next to the exit.

"Leaving," Bakugo said back sternly."Don't fucking stop me."

"Woah, lets calm down okay?" Kirishima said, walking over and waving his hands up in surrender.

"Are you trying to pick a fight? Huh?!" Bakugo yelled back, glaring at Kirishima."I'll fucking kill you!"

"Just calm down," Kirishima stuttered, backing away slightly.

Sparks started to ignite in Bakugo's hand."Don't tell me what to do Shitty-" Suddenly there was a hand on Bakugo's shoulder and he instantly calmed down.

Not understanding what was happening, he turned around at noticed Todoroki looking at him with that same expressionless mask he always wore. For some reason Bakugo couldn't bring himself to get angry once he felt Todoroki's presence. It was like his body naturally calmed down.

"Aizawa-sensei, may I bring him with me for a bit?" Todoroki asked, pulling Bakugo towards him.

Aizawa let out a sigh, nodding at them to go."Hurry up and work out whatever's going on between you two before you come back."

Todoroki nodded back, practically dragging Bakugo off with him.

Kaminari, who was watching the whole time, let out a whistle."Wow, Todoroki's totally tamed Bakugo."

Todoroki led Bakugo to the back of the building, placing him against the wall and staring at his face."Whats wrong? Do you need another hug?" He asked seriously.

Bakugo bristled but couldn't bring himself to get genuinely angry."To hell with your hugs! What the hell do you want with me?! First you try and get all buddy buddy with me, then you get us fucking matching couples keychains and now you're fucking hugging me and shit. Are you in love with me or something?!"

Todoroki suddenly paused. Love? Was that what it looked like to Bakugo? He was just trying to be his friend is all... or was he? He couldn't deny that he did feel attracted to Bakugo but he thought that was just to make friends with him. Could he be in love?

"I..." Todoroki stumbled, trying to find the right words."I just want to get to know you."

"...The hell is that supposed to mean?!" Bakugo yelled back.

Todoroki thought deeper. The endless hours of research, staying in Bakugo's room, the keychains, the hug, Bakugo's lips. Suddenly it all clicked together and Todoroki's brain quickly formed a response, moving towards Bakugo at lightning speed.

Todoroki leaned down, closing Bakugo's lips around his own without hesitation. A spark suddenly went off inside him and blossomed throughout his body. This was it, the final piece he had been looking for. No way he would let this go.

Before Bakugo could do anything, Todoroki pulled him closer and smashed his lips harder into Bakugo's, forcing the man downwards onto the floor. Bakugo struggled for breath, clutching onto Todoroki like a lifeline.

They both let up, panting hard, and Todoroki kissed Bakugo again, softer this time. He moved the mans mouth open, twirling their tongues together. Bakugo went with the flow, following Todoroki's movements without question. The sudden heat that bloomed inside him was no coincidence, he wanted this just as much as Todoroki.

This heat, this thrill, this undeniable attraction was theirs alone. And nothing would ever change that.
