|| one of those days

Milo just loved waking up in the morning.

The first rays of sunlight illuminating his room in a pink glow, the songs of little birds chirping outside—it was all very uplifting, if you asked him.

Yes, even the frequent tree or telephone pole sticking through his window had a silver lining—he could feel the cool morning breeze through the subsequently open window.

Milo yawned, stretching slightly before climbing down from his bunk bed. The bottom rung of the ladder quivered, as if it wanted to snap, but thanks to the rigorously-tested handiwork of Milo's dad, it was thoroughly reinforced.

Today, a street lamp was sticking through his window frame, its cracked lightbulb flickering sleepily. Window glass lay shattered on the floor, but this wasn't unusual to Milo. He smiled slightly, grabbed a nearby broom, and swept the glass carefully down an air vent and into the large trash can that waited at the bottom.

From somewhere downstairs, the faint sound of the well-worn Murphy piano could be heard as Sara began practicing, warming up for the day. A familiar, soft melody drifted up the stairs, and Milo hummed along as he turned to make his bed.

Morning has broken,

Blackbird has spoken;

Give thanks for the gifts

God gives to us all!

The sunrise slowly changed from pink to orange to gold, and Milo once again stood by his window, leaning out just a bit past the fallen lamppost.

A warm, gentle breeze blew past his face, but even when a nearby tree limb cracked and came crashing down into the yard, it couldn't dampen his mood.

Milo smiled broadly, taking a deep breath of the sweet fall air.

It was just one of those days.

A/N: This was actually written on Thanksgiving, back when I was -supposed- to be posting this story! It's very late; sorry. But while you're thinking about Thanksgiving, remember to be thankful for all the amazing things you've been given! Don't wait till November! ;D

In other news, I think this is my first official drabble! Usually my writing ends up being a story ten miles long, but I managed to keep this one under 300 words. #Accomplishment!

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned!
