The Three Feathers
Once Upon A Time...
There were three lovely granddaughters, each who desired something so badly that it made them walk on the tip of their toes just thinking about it. When they can longer stomach the ache in their feet, they went and sang their woes to their witch of a grandmother. She cooed them with her gentle hands and voice that sounded like a bell. She loved them so dearly and would do anything to stop their crying. With her long, soft fingers, she reached into her witch's hat and pulled out the plume of a peacock. With a soft haunting voice, she chanted a spell that imbued her golden magic into the feather before it divided into three duplicates. One for each of her granddaughters. With each hand off of a feather, she whispered the instructions in each granddaughters ear. They giggled and with a kiss for a "Thank you" they ran off, waiting to use their new found magic when the time was right.
On the stroke of midnight on Valentine's Day, the eldest burned her peacock feather into a bowl of rose petals. The next day, she meet her true love and stayed happily with him in life and in death.
On the stroke of midnight on her birthday, the middle child burned her peacock feather and lit a candle with the flame. She lived a long, happy, healthy life as she reached the age of hundred and twenty.
On the stroke of midnight on Christmas Day, the youngest burned her peacock feather and whispered a prayer into the ashes, watching them being carried away with the wind. The next day, her mother was cured from cancer along with curing the sufferings of the world for one whole year.
Before the witch of a grandmother's death, with the last of her magic she created one more peacock feather that could do all of the granddaughter's desires. The same feather that is now in your young hand and being admired by your wonderful eyes. But it can only be used once, so choose wisely and make sure it begins to burn at the stroke of midnight on the day you most desire. What will you choose?
