Stars on a Beach

There is no such thing as ease anymore.

Staring at my lover as the white froth allures our toes.

I feel sick, hands holding sand in fists.

Harsh waves from salted eyes.

His eyebrows cracked like the cliffs.

Rigid Stone for a Jaw.

I feel betrayed.

Betrayed like the water that beats against the land.

We're on the edge now.

On the boundary of land and sea.

I can see it in your face.

We are silenced by mist.

You have sat amongst my galaxy.

Chatted with my stars as they

Whisper my insecurities to then

Fall from your ear.

You held them in your hand

And watched them burn.

Only to let go once you have taken

Note of them.

Will you nurture them.

Abuse them.

I remember the taste of your stars too.

What will I do with them?

We once stood in a shower

Of falling stars.

Picking them up from the point

As we threw them at each other with a scream.

Love was never meant to be safe.

It needs the risk to matter.

We try our best.

But we are bound to step on a few stars.

You grab the star from the sand.

Holding my anxieties in your hand.

Head bowed to the ocean.

Sorry splashing your lips.

The burning star dies

Between the cupping of our hands.

Interlaced like the land and sea.

My forgiveness touches your lips.

We fall like stars into the water.

Diving into the depths of our unknown milky way.
