Chapter three (Exie)

Hands. There were so many hands!

I tried to shove away the hands, but nothing happened. They kept coming, touching every part of my body they could find. I couldn't tell what belonged to who.

I tried to sit up, but my muscles were locked. I started to panic. I couldn't move, I felt like I was suffocating, and my stomach was on fire. Not even my eyes would open.

There was A sudden peacefulness. I heard a ringing in the background. It reminded my of a heart monitor.

And then I remembered. I was talking to the president. And my wound opened. But... What about the ringing??

"please.... Leave. She needs our undivided attention...."  I heard someone say.

I needed undivided attention? Couldn't they handle my injury like last time?

"ma'am," another voice, this time male, said. "This is what my hero had paid to save my life."

"she's flat lining... How is this a good thing???"

"This isnt just a good thing! She is a national hero, who paid the real price. She's a legend....."

More followed that statement, but I focused on one piece of crucial information. I was flat lining. I had no heart beat. I was basically dead. But how come I could feel things and hear voices??

I tried to force away the fear. Oh there was so much fear!!!! But I had to stay calm.

"Exie? Honeycomb, is that you?"

I turned, or rather thought I turned. Just beyond my reach was my grandpa.

All feelings vanished and a sudden calm replaced it. "Papa!!! How I've missed you!!"

"As did I my sweet bug."

"what's going on papa?"

He seemed sad. " you're dying. The doctors are so focused on making sure the press can't expose you, so there is almost no help to stop you from bleeding out. "

"who's trying to expose me?"

"Whoever you saved that day..."

"I saved..."

And it hit me. the person I tried to help, was trying to kill me.
