I woke up early the next morning, and waited for the guards to get me. To my surprise, the guards did not come. Which was fine by me, because I had more time in my own home.
I decided to step outside for some fresh air, but when I opened the door James was standing there. James looked at me and smiled. I couldn't understand why, because did he not hate me for disobeying him?
"My lady, let me escort you to the palace." James said holding out his hand to me.
I was confused by his attitude towards me, so I just walked to the carriage without taking his hand. James opened the door for me and I stepped inside. I sat on a satin red cushion looking out the window, watching all the townspeople one last time.
"Lilliana, I need to tell you something urgent." James told me nervously as he stared at me.
I glanced at him, but did not wish to hear his news or his voice for that matter.
"Lilliana I love you, and I just..."
I gaped at him and was about to say something, when he put a finger to my lips.
"Shush...do not speak...let me show you what I mean." he said pulling me closer.
"Stop!" I yelled as I pushed him away from me.
James scowled at me, and sat back down. He crossed his arms in disappointment, and turned his head toward the window.
"You're no fun..." he murmured.
When we finally arrived at the palace, James stormed out of the carriage and walked quickly out of sight. Then, I stepped out of the carriage to see Edward standing near the entrance. He shook his head in disgust.
"He can be such a child at times can't he?"
I nodded and he gave me a grin.
"Let me show you a tour, you're not a prisoner after all."
"I'm not?" I asked confused.
"Of course not, you're just here for a year in luxury. James only wanted you here so you could fall in love with him." Edward chuckled, "But we both know he doesn't have a chance don't we?"
I laughed a bit myself at his joke. Edward then took my hand and began to take me through the castle gardens. The gardens were beautiful and filled with the most exotic of flowers I had ever seen.
"Here, this one is especially lovely." Edward said putting a bright pink tulip in my hair.
Wow, he's so nice. I wonder why he seemed mean when we first me? As I looked around the garden, I saw Giles nearby sitting on an oak bench. He was drawing something on a large notebook. I didn't know whether to wave or not, because he had seemed shy when we first met.
Then, he looked up and saw me. Giles looked unemotional when I smiled at him, but when he focused his gaze back down at his pad I could see a wry smile on his face.
"Don;t waste you time with him." said Edward glancing at Giles, "He's... different..."
I wonder what he meant by that.
"Lilliana!" yelled a distant voice from afar.
It was Oliver who ran up to me, and smiled at me.
"I'm so glad you're here!" he beamed and hugged me tightly.
I could hardly breathe by his grip on my waist.
"Don't mean to spoil the fun,Oliver, but I think you're hurting her." Edward said.
Oliver then let go, and I could breathe once more.
"I'm sorry, Lilliana, it's just I hope we can be friends. You have a wonderful personality, and wish to get to know you."
I was overcome by how friendly he was to me. Oliver seemed very sweet and kind spirited.
"You can go now, Edward, I'll show her around the palace."
Edward looked agitated but walked away towards Giles.
"Come on Lilliana, I have so much to show you!" Oliver said pulling me, eager to show me the castle.
