💥CHAPTER SEVEN: WHERES CT?!💥

A television program played on a computer screen as a man in patrol armor was relaxing with his feet propped up on the table watching it silently. He yawns and sniffs as sudden static takes over the screen. He leans forward as a bright green hologram appears next to his computer.

The man jumps and gasps dropping his feet down and sliding up to the desk.

"I hate to intrude but you haven't preformed any work in the past 13 minutes and 42 seconds. That strikes me  as rather inefficient." The hologram reads.

"Oh, uh, sorry, I was just trying to, uh, yeah...how do you...How do you do the new window, you know, like the, you know like a new window...What's the button thing for that now?" The man stammers looking over his computer keyboard.

"I believe the keys you are looking for are Alt-Tab." The hologram responds with a nod and an examination of his gun.

"Whoa, yeah!" The man exclaims clicking the button to open and close the new tab a few times. "Thanks little guy. Wait. Who are you? You dont look like the normal holo-projection." The man frowns examining the hologram in front of him.

"That is because I am the A.I. designated as Delta from Project Freelancer."

"Wait you're from Freelancer?!" The man scoots back a little, eyes widr at the A.I. in front of him. "I mean, are...Aren't those the bad guys?"

"There is no need for name calling. I submit that Project Freelancer is neither good nor bad, much like your own forces." Delta explains. "We are merely two groups dedicated to obtaining different results."

"Wow...that's...that deep. Its like theres different universes, but you know there's--" a tight grip holds onto the back of the mans neck. A taller man is bronze and white armor stands next to the patrol soldier. The armored man looks down at the soldier, a smirk radiating from his visor.

"Dont encourage him man. He's already long-winded as it is." And with that the armored man slams the soldiers head off his desk violently and stretches his arms, watching the man bounce backwards out of his chair. "Thank God. I thought you two would never stop chit-chatting."

"I'm not sure that was entirely necessary." Delta informs as the man approaches software and begins typing on a keyboard. "He seemed opent to the logic I presented him. Perhaps he woild have allowex us to carry out our mission."

"Sorry I knocked out your new friend." The armored man laughs. "Now you two will never be able to have a beer together."

"I believe that would be unlikely, regardless Agent New York."

"I believe that would be unlikely, regardless Agent New York..." York says in a mocking voice. He clicks a few more buttons and a large holographic lock appears in front of them. "Showtime."

"Come in, Agent York." The Director says over comms. "Are you in?"

"Yes, sir." York hums as he begins to move around the lock buttons. "These guys love their holographic locks though so I'm gonna let Delta take a peak inside their system while I attempt to disable it manually. You're up D."

"Curious." Delta appears next to Agent New York watching him move his hands in attempt to disable the lock.

"Whats curious? Thats code for 'bad' isn't it?" York frowns looking at his A.I.

"I detected an anomaly inside of the system." Delta informs. "Something that is not supposed to be there. Diverting subroutines to investigate."

"Hey, hey, hey Delta. Dont get too curious in there. I need your attention on this lock." York orders.

"Do not worry Agent York. I have already rectified several instances where you would have tripped the alarm system." Delta nods to his Freelancer as a groaning occurs behind them causing both of them to turn.

"My head..." The soldier was beginning to stand. "Wait, why are...Give me back my leprechaun..." The soldier groans.

"Did he just call you a leprechaun?" York chuckles.

"Circumstances show that his dream like state is picturing me as something I really am not." Delta responds. York rolls his eyes and kicks the still standing chair, nailing the soldier in the stomach, causing him to topple over it and pass out onto the floor again. York turns back to the lock.

"What was that Delta?" The Director hisses. York panics.

"Nothing sir!" York responds chirply.

"Agent, may I remind you that we are running short on time." The Director sneers.

"Warning, an alarm has been triggered remotely." Delta stands straight and stiff.

"I'm sorry what?" York looks quickly to Delta.

"They knew we were coming." The Director sighs exasperated. "Agent York, abort intrusion immediately. We're moving to more direct measures." The Director orders, as York lunges forward and continues swiftly picking the lock.

"Wait, wait, wait, I can do this. I can do this! Please sir." York begs. "Just give me a moment sir!"

"System online director." Filiss' voice says. "Awaiting your command."

"I agree with the Director. I have yet to see you successfully open a lock in the field, and this alarm will only hamper your progress." Delta insists.

"Oh shut up and don't you start in on me too!" York snaps. "You've been talking to Rhode again, haven't you? I told him to shut his mouth." York returns his attention back to the lock and frantically moving his hand around the large hologram.

"Agent York, we're out of time. I repeat, abort."

"Target locked.

"Um...what target is locked...?" York looks at Delta. "Delta, what are they doing?"

"Taking more direct measures." Delta nods.

"You knew about this...?" York asks eyes wide.

"Possibly." The A.I. flickers as seeming to shrug. York stares at the lock for a second before looking to a melting orange space on the wall and looks back at Delta as it begins to glow brightly.

"Why you green little cockbite." York sneers as Delta vanishes and he quickly turns to bolt in the other direction. A blast occurs and everything begins to be pulled through a hole into space. "Whoa, whoa!" York shouts as he latches onto the desk hanging there.

Attempting to hold himself he presses an arm against the chair that flew at him.

"Holy crap!" He yells and grunts flailing into space when the soldier hit the chair.

Back on Mother of Invention

Michigan looks at Texas and shrugs "Told you we shoulda gave him back up." She sighs. Texas looks at Michigan in silence and then turns to the screen as it switched to static and returned back to the leaderboard. Rumbling against the ships walls catch both women's attention, Michigan quickly leaves the room but Texas remains staring at the large leaderboard in silence.
