Not a Disney moment
Percy POV
In order (get it?) to not completely fail, we needed to be intensely trained. The cloaked man was currently leading us down one of the numerous hallways in the palace that we were apparently in, to the "fun room" as he called it. The fun room brought back plenty of good memories from my experiences a mere hour ago, but I chose not to comment. Next to me, Piper was walking with her head up high, staring pointedly at the back of the main guy's head.
Oh. Well I guess I probably should have considered the fact that we know next to nothing about these people and that I really shouldn't be leaving myself so open. I felt shame burn in my stomach for not keeping my head together, I felt guilty for leaving it all to Piper.
Reaching out, I grabbed her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze before letting it drop back to her side. I felt relieved to see her shoulders relax and her face begin to resemble her age rather than the twenty years older she had looked for the past few minutes.
I was about to say something to piper when I was suddenly no longer standing, but on the floor. I let out a groan. The footsteps of the cloaked kids behind us stopped and the guy in front of us paused as well. It was silent for a few minutes before I felt someone lean over me, and the sudden closeness forced my eyes open. Piper was hovering a foot above me with that concerned and stressed expression back.
From behind me a deep voice questioned "Is he dead?"
Oh buddy, I wish
"Unfortunately not." I remarked, attempting to move before finding out that I quite literally could not.
"Well this just got really awkward...." I trailed off unsure how to explain that I couldn't move.
"Are you going to get up or...?" A feminine voice with a strange accent that I couldn't place replied.
"You see that's just it...I-I kinda can't" I admitted, feeling my face heat up.
"What do you mean?" Piper asked, slightly frantic.
I turned a deeper shade of red "You know how most of the time you can like, tell your body to do something and it does it? Well that's a thing that is no longer happening..."
"So you actually can't move?" Piper restated.
"It seems that way." I confirmed.
"So your nerves were so overpowered by pain that your body shut down and now you just can't...move?"
"Yeah pretty much." I responded with a grimace.
I was silent for a little while and then one of the cloaked figures behind me steps forward and I feel arms around me. As they lift me off the floor I get a slight sensation of flying, before my heart starts racing and my breathing quickens. I being to feel light headed and the bright white hall is starting to spin. I feel a hand touch my chest and then a voice forcefully yells
"CALM"
I feel a wave of ease pass through me and my body begins to relax in the person's arms-which have gone slack around me as if I was fragile and damaged.
Not as if, because I am. I inhale deeply before closing my eyes, and as I do I feel a liquid dripping from my cheek onto my arm.
I had actually cried.
"I-I-I'm so-sorry I don't know where that came from. Um first time for everything I s-suppose." I stuttered, still in a slight shock.
Opening my eyes I saw Piper's wide horrified eyes and was almost crushed by guilt. I was supposed to be the strong one. I was supposed to stay composed. I was supposed to help everyone. I was supposed to be able to walk for crying out loud.
I felt like drowning in a puddle of my own self-pity, but I'm no even sure I can manage that.
No one had said anything, all seemingly frozen by my outburst, so I attempt to lighten the mood. "I'm really great at first impressions, and walking. Some of my fortes"
That broke them enough, the main cloak guy (who I need to know the name of) hesitantly responded "Yes, I've noticed. Anyways, come along, we're almost there."
True to his word, a few minutes later we reached a door and the main guy opened it, slipping inside and motioning for us to follow. Once we were inside, the guy holding me startled me by asking
"Are you okay?"
Ha. Hahahahahahahahaaaaaa
"Yeah, I've been better, how are you?" I replied.
He snorted, and shot back, "Well I'm wonderful compared to you."
I gasped in mock offense "Excuse me, I am a nice person. Tell him Piper! I'm nice I swear."
Piper rolled her eye but conceded "Yes, you are a nice person, and you know that's not what he meant."
This time I rolled my eyes "Yes Pipes, it's my limbs that don't work, not my brain."
"I wouldn't be so sure." One of the cloaked figures responded.
"Honestly?!" I exclaimed exasperated "Now you're just being mean."
"Right!" The main cloak guy interrupted our conversation, "Let's get down to business! I'm Chaos and I will be your trainer for...ever. Our first skill today will be resistance to the elements!"
"Well," Piper starts "the cold never bothered me anyway."
Chaos gave us an eerie grin from under his hood and his ominous "Good" echoed in my mind as we were lead deeper into the room.
(can you name the three disney princess movies those three quotes are from?)
