Chapter 27.

Grace

It has been 2 weeks since the stare-down at Jungkook's house.

And I'm feeling better.

Mostly because the guys made sure Christian wouldn't bother me at campus.

And because Ali and Becky made a whole-weekend plan to distract me and help me move on.

I have also officially decided to focus on myself and give myself a break from guys and relationships.

I've wasted enough of my time already and I'm not planning on messing up this internship.

Applications were due yesterday and I made sure everything was perfectly done on mine. Now comes the actual hard part - waiting for the answer and the possibility of an interview.

I hope I get it so bad. It would practically insure my career after university.

But for tonight at least, I'm going to try to forget about it and spend some quality time with my friends.

It's finally warm enough outside for dresses and I've just bought a new one during the girls weekend with Ali and Becky.

Speaking of my best friends, they will be here in half an hour so I better hurry.

I pull the dress from my closet and I absolutely have to wear this one.

It's emerald green, the colour of our school baseball team, meaning it's perfect for this occasion, since I'm going there to support them.

How could I not after they've been just the best.

I rarely wear dresses, but today I'm feeling this. I'm ready just in time when I hear Ali's car pull up.

Becky is already in it when I open the door and slide in.

I can't believe I used to think they wouldn't get along. In just a few weeks they've gone form practically strangers to best friends.

"Damn, girl," Becky says when I buckle up.

"You both look amazing," I compliment my best friends, because they really do. Ali's wearing a light pink dress and Becky a white one.

It may look like we arranged this whole wearing-a-dress thing, but I swear, we didn't.

Still, I love that I'm not the only one wearing it.

"Looks to me like you're ready to get back out there," Ali chirps from behind the wheel.

My smile fades only a little, which is a good sign. I'm completely okay with talking about it and I appreciate them tying to lighten up the mood.

As much as I would like to 'get back out there' I feel like my decision is a good one. I need to focus on myself now.

The arena is packed by the time we get there, who knew?

I'm just kidding, baseball games are a big deal on this campus. And I just so happen to know the star players and hence always have a seat saved.

Since the season started they have games every weekend, and I've been to every one that they've played home. Than's why I lead my friends directly to our seats.

And we're just in time too, the players are about to come on the field.

The seats, by the way, are amazing. We're so close I can feel the concentration radiating off the players.

I never thought I would become a fan of this game, but once the boys sat me down and explained it to me, with real examples on their yard, and once I kept coming to their games, I have to admit, I kinda love it.

I'm enjoying it tonight even more, because my girls are next to me and we're having the best time. And our team is winning, too.... still winning.... and yeah, they've just won!

We're clapping for the team and I have the biggest smile plastered on my face, they're going to the finals. I'm so proud of them.

I can't wait to tell them that in person when they finally come out of the dressing rooms.

Jungkook

We won.

We just won.

And we're going to the finals.

And my teammates are grinning from ear to ear.

I'm so happy.

This year the title is ours. We have to get it for Jin and Yoongi, they aren't going to be playing with us anymore next year and they deserve to go out with a bang.

We shower and get changed for a bonfire that's happening here tonight. It feels like it's been prepared for our win, but I know it's an annual thing this time of year. Still, we have a chance to celebrate.

Sarah texted me earlier to let me know she's meeting me there and I also know Grace, Becky and Ali are here somewhere, because Grace promised me she'd come.

And Grace never breaks her promises.

I shoot her a text and she tells me they're waiting for us at the exit.

Great, because that's exactly where we're headed.

Once the girls spot us they start clapping and yelling congratulations and I realise I'm grinning like a fool, and when I look at my teammates, so are they.

We get closer to say hi and suddenly my mouth feels dry.

Grace is wearing a dress, and a very short dress for that matter. Green looks incredible on her making the green in her eyes stand out effortlessly.

"Wow, you're a full-out supporter today, baby-doll," Jin says, nudging his head at Grace's green dress. It's the same green as our jerseys and the jackets we're wearing now.

Grace gives me the sweetest smile when I say hi and wrap my arm around her shoulder.

"Congrats," she chirps, her voice beaming with happiness, as we walk towards the bonfire.

I look down at her dress again and my lips curl up.

"What?" she pokes me in my side.

"Nothing," I shrug and she pokes me again, "it seems to me that sports aren't so boring anymore." I tease her.

"I just go for the after parties," she shoots back. This time I poke her side.

That makes her jump and the wind catches her hair, blowing it into my face. It smells like peaches and summer and just damn sweet.

When we reach the bonfire I spot Sarah, standing with a red cup in her hands.

She looks pretty in her black dress and heels.... wait a second, heels? Why is she wearing heels to a bonfire?

I unhook my arm from Grace's shoulders and head towards my girlfriend.

"Hey," I give her a kiss on the cheek, "we won."

"Hey, JK," her tone is a bit annoyed, "great."

"Wow there, these shoes look a bit dangerous," Hobi says when the other join us.

"I didn't expect to actually come here, I though we were going to Con's," she says back, still annoyed.

"Yeah, neither did we," I say back and look more thoroughly at her outfit. A tight, short, black wrap dress. She is bar-ready. Somehow the black doesn't extenuate any of her traits, her blue eyes don't pop because of it, her light hair doesn't look shinier. Does black only do wonders for Grace?

I look at her again. Not just black, apparently. I can't get over this green dress on her.

The night goes on with the basic bonfire activities, some hot dogs, beer and guitar playing.

I'm happy to see Grace smiling and spreading her happiness. There was a time I didn't think I'd ever see this bright smile again.

"Congrats again, star player," Grace comes to see Sarah, Jimin, Namjoon and me.

We are discussing the ways playing guitar scores you points with the girls, and boys.

I hug her under my arm again, she's a bit cold.

When I ask her if she wants my jacket she shakes her head no and nudges me to look at her phone.

"Look what I found," she's smiling again and it warms my heart.

"No way," the writer of the Blackheart series just announced he's started writing another book and tons of speculations and predictions are coming out.

We're discussing some predictions when Sarah gets our attention.

"Was this what you two were doing when you were helping Grace deal with "some stuff"?" Sarah's face is red and her tone spiteful.
