Chapter 19.
Grace
Someone please explain to me how it is March already.
Like could this year go by any faster?
It feels like I just blinked and February ended, and now it's already March 9. I'm getting ready for Yoongi's birthday party, it's Thursday and thankfully I don't have classes tomorrow.
Hmmmm... what should I wear? All I've been told is that it's just a little gathering, not too many people.
I'll just go casual and comfy, because it's still cold outside. I'm missing the sun.
I grab my gift for Yoongi, I baked him his favourite cookies he's been asking for for ages.
Ali drops me off while she's going to the city for an appointment, but I'm sensing there's something she isn't telling me. Ever since things fizzed out with Blake, she's been all secretive and quiet. The quiet part is getting me worried.
"How are you getting home?" she asks me before I close the car door.
"Maybe with Becky, or I'll ask one of the guys to drive me," that's my plan.
"Well, if you'll need a ride, call me," Ali says before driving off.
I shiver as I step inside, ugh, why is it still so cold outside.
Jin is the first one to notice me as I enter the living room. There's already a lot of people here.
Some other baseball players, I can see Yoongi' girlfriend, and some other people I don't know. I can't see Becky yet as well.
"Hey, baby-doll," Jin gives me a big hug.
"Hey hey," I hide the box I'm holding behind my back.
"Whatcha got there?" I've peaked Jin's interest as we enter the kitchen.
I give in and show him what I made for Yoongi, "He's going to be so happy," Jin says when he sees the cookies.
"Where is he?" I say and look around for the birthday boy.
I can't spot Yoongi, but I do spot Jungkook.
He waves from across the room where he's sitting on the sofa. I point to the gift and shrug, and while Jin looks at me all confused, Jungkook gets what I'm saying and points to the other side of the living room by the dining table.
And there he is. I head in that direction with the gift still behind my back.
"Hey, birthday boy, got a minute?" I say when I see him mixing a drink.
"Grace, hey," he looks very happy today, and it's contagious.
"Yoongy, happy birthday," I give him a hug and wish him all the best.
"Now for the gift," I say and put the box in front of him, "I hope you enjoy it."
I watch his face light up as he opens it and immediately puts a cookie in his mouth.
"Thanks, Gracie, this is the tastiest gift ever," Yoongi says with his mouth full.
I just love making other people happy with food. There is nothing better.
After I make a toast with the birthday boy, I head toward the sofa to say hello to Jungkook and the rest of the guys sitting there.
"Grace, hey," they greet me.
"Hi, boys," I sit down next to Jungkook. He has to put his left arm around me and I squeeze closer to him, because the sofa is so crowded.
"How you doin'?" he gives me a quick kiss on the cheek.
This gesture used to get us a lot of looks from the guys, but now everyone is used to it.
It feels like I've become a part of their little family in these few months.
We chat for a bit when I notice Jungkook shift uncomfortably next to me.
"Everything okay, Koo?" I nudge him.
He's staring at the door. I follow his gaze and see what, or rather who, he's staring at.
It's Sarah. The girl he had a coffee, study "date," with last week.
And he hasn't shut up about her since. Now that I'm seeing her in person, she's so pretty. She has long blonde, slightly curled hair, almost grey eyes and a great figure. She's rocking a short tight dress, she's caught every eye in this room.
She stops by Yoongi and his girlfriend, apparently they are friends, and Sarah is also in the same class as Jungkook.
Then she heads towards the sofa we're sitting on.
Jungkook gives me a nervous look and I grab his hand and push him forward so he has to stand up.
What would he do without me?
Jungkook
I get up after Grace practically pushes me up and walk to Sarah.
Oh shit, I forgot to tell Grace how pretty she looks in that pink sweater she's wearing.
"Hey," Sarah says when I reach her.
"I'm glad you could make it," I say back and take in how she looks again.
Damn, that's a short dress.
Grace would never wear a dress like this.
I scold myself in my thoughts.
Why do I keep comparing Sarah to Grace?
I have a hot girl, who's into me right in front of me and I'm not giving her my full attention. Well, that has got to change.
I take one look back at the sofa and see Grace smiling at me and giving me a thumbs up. Okay then, this night I'm all Sarah's.
I was a bit surprised when she asked me to grab a coffee last week, but I also desperately needed help with that class and we made it work perfectly.
I grab us some drinks and we find a spot at the dining table, while everyone else is in the living room.
"So, Jungkook," Sarah takes a sip of her drink, "when do you start with the new season?" she makes an effort to lick her red lips after her sip and I sure do notice.
But come on, only baseball questions, again?
"Umm, well I hope the wetter gets better soon so we can start with the outside practices," I reply vaguely.
I don't really want to talk about baseball. I get enough b-talk with my guys.
Surprisingly, Sarah catches onto that, "Oh, gosh, I'm acting just like every single one of your fangirls, aren't I?"
"A little bit," I say, happy to find out she isn't an air-head..
"Starting over," she clears her throat, "what do you want to talk about?"
"You," I say and watch her cheeks redden, "tell me something about you."
