Chapter 13.
Grace
I let Jungkook lead me to the first floor and then to the end of the hall.
Damn, their house is huge.
And then he opens the door, and my mouth falls open.
His room is as big as my whole apartment.
"I wanted to say that your house is big, but wow, your room is huge," I say when he sees me gawking.
"It's the biggest room here, don't worry," he laughs and winks at me.
But isn't he the youngest? How on earth did he get the biggest room?
"If you're wondering how I got it," he says and I look up, my surprised face letting him know I was, indeed, thinking about just that, "we played a game for the rooms and this was the one I got."
It's an amazing room. It's at the end of the hallway and he has the whole end-section from one side of the house to the other. On the left side is the bathroom and on the right his bed and table.
It's very minimalistic, but I have to pee really bad, I'll just have check it out later.
I look at Jungkook and he points to the door on my left. I finish my business and look at myself in the mirror. There's a light flush on my cheeks but my eyes are bright and a small smile permanently etched on my lips. Why am I kind of enjoying talking to him?
"Thanks for letting me use your bathroom," I say as I walk out of it.
"No problem," Jungkook is sitting, or better lying, on the bed with his legs still touching the floor.
I step to the window and look out.
The house is the last one in their street so they have noting but woods behind it. And wow, what a view.
"You like the view?" Jungkook asks me, he's now sitting.
"It's so beautiful," I stride over to the desk, it's big and every inch is covered. If not by paper, then by books.
I've noticed he has a lot of them. Some are lying on the table, some are stacked on the floor, and what I'm guessing are his favourite and most precious ones are neatly organised on a shelf.
"How come you're here only with your friends?" Jungkook asks me, watching me wander around his room.
"Hm?" I ask, who else would I come with?
"Don't you have a boyfriend?"
My mind wanders to Blake for a second, but I have no problem wiping it away.
"Nope, where did you hear that?" I'm curious, is someone saying around that I have a boyfriend? Did he go around asking about me?
"I thought the guy at Becky's party was with you," Jungkook says. I can't decipher his mood right now. Surprised, tense, curious.
I start to laugh. It isn't the first time someone has mistaken Mike for my boyfriend.
"That guy, Mike, is my cousin," I explain seeing things make sense to Jungkook, "he's like my best friend."
"Oh, well from what I saw he really cares about you," he replies, his tone shining with sincerity.
I smile back and look at the shelf before me.
I gasp.
No way! No freaking way.
Jungkook
I almost fall of my bed.
I was just processing what Grace told me about her cousin and accepting that I was wrong. I wanted to ask her about the other guy, but I didn't want to push it.
Grace gasps again.
"What?" I ask, what did she see?
She turns and looks at me still sitting on my bed.
Her eyes are big and her mouth is open a bit.
"You have the original hard covers," her eyes are shining and I finally get what she's talking about.
In her hand she's holding my Blackheart special hard cover edition I bought.
I smile at her excitement and nod slowly.
"Wha-? How? Where did you get them?" She's holding the book like it could break apart or disappear at any time.
"Online," I simply answer. It took me almost 2 months of searching but I got them.
"I looked everywhere and they were all sold out," Grace whines, it's adorable. "Can I look inside?" she asks carefully.
"Sure," I can't help but laugh at her excitement.
She sits down on the bed, on my left, and opens the book.
"You like the books so much?" I ask her. This is quite fascinating actually. I haven't met many who have read them.
"Yup, they're so good," she's busy looking at the character sketches now.
While she's doing that I finally have the time to look at her up close.
White looks great on her.
I'm digging the jeans, too.
I suck in my breath when her sweater falls off her left shoulder.
She's wearing a white lace and silk camisole under and damn.
Her hair is behind her ear and falling over her now exposed shoulder.
And she's reading a book on my bed.
Calm down, dude. She's obviously not interested.
Somehow I manage to stop staring and make conversation.
She loves the books just as much as I do, and when I tell her I heard that the author is writing a prequel she nearly falls off the bed.
We talk until we hear someone shouting "One minute!" and running through the house.
We both jump to our feet, nod at each other and run downstairs.
Time went by so fast I didn't notice it was only one minute until the new year.
At least I ended this one better than expected.
In the living room we find our friends and I grab us two glasses of champagne on the way.
Grace thanks me, and Becky pulls her closer and starts hugging her. She looks really drunk.
I smile at Grace and find my boys.
Grace
I can't believe we got so carried away that we almost missed new year.
I'm surprised that he's read the Blackheart series, to be honest.
But I'm also really happy to have finally found someone I can talk to about it with.
Right now that's not important, though.
"10!"
I close my eyes.
"9, 8!"
I will crush it.
"7, 6!"
I will get the internship.
"5, 4!"
I will make more time for myself.
"3, 2!"
I will work harder to reach my dream.
"1!"
I've got this.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" the whole room yells.
In this moment old grudges, friendships, judgments don't matter.
Right now you wish the best year to everyone.
I celebrate it with hugs from my friends, wishing them a great year.
We drink our champagne and my phone vibrates.
Ali.
I grab my jacket and go out to the terrace.
It has a great view of the forest in front of me and I can even see fireworks from a distance.
"Happy New Year!" We both yell into our phones.
"I'm giving you the biggest hug in my mind right now," Ali says, her cheeks a bit red as she kisses the camera of her phone.
I raise my glass and clink it with the screen of my phone, "To us."
"To us rocking the f out of this year," Ali clinks back.
"Love ya," I say when I hear the door to the terrace opening.
"Love you, too," Ali says before hanging up.
I look back and see two by now familiar figures nearing.
