Chapter 60: The pain in his eyes

"I-I thought I saw you out there crying...I thought I heard you call my name...I thought I heard you out there crying. Just the same...."

Jungkook sang, tearing up slightly as he let out a sigh and looked down. Yet he didn't cheer up from his own voice at all. This made Jimin feel so bad for the younger that he just had to walk over to the younger and comfort him.

"Jungkook.. You sing so perfect.." Jimin added, wanting to distract the younger from what just happened as he began to clap and smile at the younger. "So perfect~" Jimin continued as Jungkook still held onto the mail as he slightly jolted from the tears that ran down his eyes.

"You... You really think so...? My... voice cracked a bit there." Jungkook added in tears as Jimin let out a cute giggle as he sat down next to the younger.

"You're perfect either way, Jeon Jungkook." Jimin stated and let out a sigh. "Ah... I'm sorry I did that to you... Those people out there are jerks for looking at you like that! What's their problem?" Jimin asked, wanting to make Jungkook feel way more better. "Those are some disgusting people... Judging you... If only everyone can see how perfect you are, right through my eyes. They would understand you like the way I do." Jimin stated as Jungkook wiped his own tears, staring at Jimin through it all.

"I'm sorry I left you alone to go through that on your own..." Jungkook whispered as Jimin gazed at the boy and smiled. Understanding that Jungkook wasn't someone so perfect to impress everyone right by him. "You must have been embarrassed to go through all of that on your own... Oh, I hate how I did this to you. I-I wasn't thinking!"

"It's okay... Did the landlord... Bother you? Do you know him like that?" Jimin wondered as Jungkook grew silent and looked at the older silently.

"It..  doesn't matter... Let's just say he isn't very fond of me..." Jungkook whispered and looked at the mail in his hands before flipping them over and covering up the address and name of the resident.

"How could he not like you?"

"Well... For starters... I pushed him in front of everyone in the lobby and ran off without apologizing. I disrespected an elder and shoved off anyone who was in my way... I guess I wasn't thinking this through. I just... don't like him. I don't hate him, however, I find it difficult to talk to him."

"What does he expect me to do with that useless information? He isn't going to tell me.. So what does he expect me to do with something like this?" Jimin thought as Jungkook still looked as if he still had more tears coming from his gleaming eyes.

"Why.. Am I like this..? Why doesn't anyone like me? Why can't I be social for once and go out to have fun like anyone else?" Jungkook whispered as Jimin looked at the younger and smiled, putting his arm around the younger gently.

"I like you. I want to help you so we could go out together and walk around. You're nothing different than just a boy that hopes to fit in. Like a small cloud still searching for it's unique shape." Jimin mentioned, making Jungkook blush and look down at the ground.

"If I... Can't make it, will you hate me? "

"I'd never hate you, Jeon Jungkook. You are too handsome, too funny, too perfect to dislike. Even if the whole residents in this complex may despise you... You still have someone here who thinks you are pretty great!" Jimin said with a smile and patted Jungkook's back. "If we don't go... It still doesn't give you an excuse not to watch at least the snowfall with me."

"I want today to be perfect... But then again... I don't want to go out there again. Ugh how I hate being afraid.."

"Having fear is what builds you up so you wouldn't get torn down after. Jungkook... It's okay to be afraid. Look at me I'm scared of the dark!" Jimin giggled to cheer the younger up. Watching the smile in the boy's face grow while his eyes gleamed with such joy.

"If today doesn't work out... We could always go next year." Jungkook added and took Jimin by the hands and looked at the older, wiping away any other tears that fell from his eyes. "You'll be here.... Forever..." Jungkook whispered as Jimin picked up the hint of a possessive tone in the boy too.

"Oh Jungkook! You don't know that! W-What if my job asks me to travel? I am a journalist after all!" Jimin giggled. Longing to slowly approach Jungkook on this topic... However, Jungkook only kept a psychotic smile and caressed Jimin's face.

"You're joking right? I-If that is the case then, you'll have to quit so you can stay by my side! Forever. I can't have you leave me. Not once so please, don't." Jungkook said and held Jimin's hands tightly, bringing Jimin close to whisper in his ear. "You're too precious of a gem to lose.."

"But what if... I love being a journalist."

"Then you'll need to find something else you love." Jungkook replied and stood up, walking up to the window and gazing out of it in silence.

             "What if-"

"Stop it... You wouldn't like it if I bombard you with those 'what if' questions... Right? How would you like it if I tell you fake things and make it seem like it'll happen? Because I know deep down you'll never leave me! But let's see how much you'll like these types of questions!  Hey Jimin, what if I despised you from the start? Hey, Jimin... What if I jump off this window right now and just fall into the sea?!" Jungkook asked already fed up with Jimin's questions to leave that if brought him to slowly tear up. "Hey, Jimin! What if I told you I wasnt who I really was?! What if..I cant leave this place even if I wanted to?!"

"Jungkook, that's enough! Why would you say such things like that?!" Jimin asked as he stood up to look at the younger. "I... I'm not going anywhere..." Jimin stated as he let out an exhale. "Those were just.... Thoughts that came up in my mind..." Jimin sighed as Jungkook looked at Jimin and wiped his tears again. He just couldn't stand there and listen to Jimin's constant 'what if' questions that hit too close to home.

"Are you.. Sure..?" Jungkook asked causing Jimin to walk up to the younger and softly wipe away the tears from his eyes using the sleeves of his dark blue sweater.

"Yes.. I won't ever leave you... How many times do I have to say that?" Jimin asked in a soft voice as Jungkook hugged Jimin.

"I can't... lose my best friend. Don't throw me back into solitude. That's the only thing I beg of you, Park Jimin." Jungkook whispered into Jimin's ear as Jimin just stood there in silence. Listening to Jungkook's gentle breath takes as he regretted uttering such stupid questions to Jungkook enough to make the younger grow furious and yell out his questions that almost made Jimin question where they came from.. Did Jungkook really despise Jimin before all of this? But for what reason? Jimin closed his eyes into the embrace as he threw such thoughts away... Knowing Jungkook would never hate the older. Rather, Jungkook loved Jimin and displayed it through his obsession and constant possessive tone he'd use to make Jimin stay by his side.

"You.. Don't hate me... Do you?"

"Never... I'd never hate you..." Jungkook added as he still hugged Jimin. "Just like you'd never hate me... I'd never hate you." Jungkook concluded as Jimin pulled back from the smile as he looked Jungkook in the eyes.

"But... Jungkook if I do leave and come back-"

"Shut up and stop talking about that." Jungkook chuckled and caressed Jimin's soft and chubby face like it was a squishy toy Jungkook loved to poke at.

"A-Ah let me just ask.. What would you do to me if I do leave and come back?"

"I said I'll never hate you if you leave so I'll be sure there isn't a 'what if' on leaving me, Park Jimin... That I'm sure of." Jungkook answered as Jimin gulped. "You look so adorable when you do such a cute face like that! Almost as if you're scared.... But that can't be real, right? You won't leave so.. What is there to worry about, Jimin?" Jungkook asked as Jimin then began to giggle and shake his head.

"Forget about it... If you are coming to the festival today... I'll be the most happiest man alive~ can you make it happen for me?" Jimin asked as he straightened Jungkook's sweater while the younger smiled and nodded his head happily. "Good. Don't be late and don't let me down!" Jimin added as he pulled away from Jungkook and started to walk out of the room but Jungkook followed like a lost puppy.

"W-Where are you going?" Jungkook asked as Jimin looked back and smiled.

"I need to get the landlord gift certificates in apology. If you don't apologize, who will?" Jimin giggled as opened the door and kept looking at Jungkook. "Meet me by the docks around seven! Don't be late!" Jimin said as Jungkook nodded and watched Jimin leave him in his apartment again.

It was times like these, Jungkook wished he could follow Jimin out those doors. Anywhere Jimin went off to, Jungkook longed to follow along with the older. Having their own adventures and joyful memories being made through it all. Of course, this was what Jungkook always wanted deep down.
