Chapter 10: Because I care

Taehyung realized Jimin was picking out clothes from the bedroom and this only drew his attention, gazing at Jimin from the living room. "Oh don't tell me he's going to do something stupid..." Taehyung whispered, walking over to the room to see Jimin setting out his outfit while Taehyung folded his arms. "Jimin."

"Oh! Hi, Taehyung!" Jimin said with a smile. "Did you... Sleep well yesterday? I zoned out when he started to sing for me..." Jimin added as Taehyung only glared at Jimin.

"Jimin... Don't you ever wonder on what that thing could be? There could be a demon just waiting to take you to another realm or a pervert!" Taehyung panicked as Jimin rolled his eyes and looked down at his clothes.

"I'm going to see what's up there today.." Jimin added, looking back at Taehyung. "You may not like it... But I am a very curious guy." Jimin stated gazing at the clothes before picking up a sweater of his. "I'll just take a quick pea-"

"No! No you won't, Jimin!" Taehyung ordered making Jimin flinch and turn around to gaze at the younger. Ordering and demanding him on what to do.

             "Excuse me..?"

"Yeah, you heard me. I won't let you go up there, Park Jimin! You don't know what's waiting up there for you..  I know you are desperate to find out but.. I worry about you. What if you dissapear and I'll never see you again?" Taehyung wondered. However, Jimin only continued to turn down Taehyung's words.

"Listen... I know you want to be here for me and watch over me... But this is good for me! Something like this finally catches my attention outside of work! I'll come back to finish up the entries, until then, I'll be up the third floor trying to look around!"

"Jimin.... You don't get it..." Taehyung sighed, placing his hands down on Jimin's shoulder and gazing into his eyes. Taehyung's eyes felt like darts to Jimin's bright and gleaming eyes. Showing how serious this was to him. "Look at me, Jimin... You can't go up there no matter how far your curiosity takes you."

           "Why not...?"

"Because you don't know what's up there! How many times do I have to tell you to get it through your mind?" Taehyung continued, making Jimin sigh and look down.

"All that's up there is a living person! Okay? They won't hurt me... I know this. There's no such thing as an apparition. That's nothing and as an editor, you are close to the Journalist and you should understand what this all means! Stop relying on the the ghost rumors!" Jimin concluded, watching Taehyung quickly move his hands away from Jimin and grab him by the hands and pull him close now.

"You can't go up there.. You can't stand there and pretend as if you don't hear me! Jimin, the world isn't so peachy and perfect. You as a journalist should already know that a in a world like this... There's monsters out there, ready to distinguish the light from any beautiful and innocent thing... That's you..." Taehyung pointed out as Jimin gazed up at Taehyung who was close to having a breakdown over how scared he was becoming. Knowing Jimin wasn't going to listen and allowed the  curiosity that devoured him to float around in his head. Luring him into the thought of travelling up stairs.

"Taehyung! Why do you suddenly care about me so much... Back then you wouldn't care about a thing I wanted to go after but now...? You are so worried about me! Stop it. I know what's good for me." Jimin said, watching his best friend sigh and walk over to his own bed to sit.

"Fine... Of course.. Why would you listen to me anyways? I'm just your friend... Your roommate... Your editor. I have no saying in what your life should be.." Taehyung added, making Jimin start to feel bad.

"Taehyung you know I didn't say that! I just don't want you to worry! This isn't a ghost... Well, this isn't a ghost to me. In my eyes... It could be someone who doesn't like meeting people. Maybe lives in isolation. I want to be able to break that barrier." Jimin added in hopes of convincing his close friend but Taehyung didn't even change his mind... Even for a mere second.

"Jimin... Please focus on your work today... It's only fair you do it and save your small adventure for later. I'm not trying to be the bad guy here... But I just want you to focus on work for the day." Taehyung added. Of course, Jimin understood what Taehyung was saying. He understood the younger's view point on things and didn't want to end up arguing with the younger.

"Fine... If you don't want me to do it... I won't go..." Jimin whispered, watching Taehyung's eyes light up and the boy then let out an exhale in relief. Glad Jimin wasn't going to risk his life just to go see what or who was up there hiding on the third floor.

"R-Really?! This is the first time you finally do something for me!" Taehyung added with a smile, walking up to Jimin to hug him gently. Just then, Taehyung started to hear tapping up the vents. Almost as in the unknown was upset to hear this news. Taehyung stood there with a smile on his face, gazing up to look at the vents with a smile. He knew this was what the owner of the voice longed for... What the man needed. He longed to lure in Jimin but after that, he was unsuccessful and all he could do was tap a metal object against the vent.

Yet deep down, Jimin was lying. He apreciated his friend's kind words and how he would worry for Jimin. Not wanting him to go. Jimin pulled away from the hug and gazed at the clothing still set out on the bed for later. He would attempt to escape if he had to. Just to see what was upstairs and that made him grow happy and excited. It was like Jimin was traveling to a historical landmark abroad. He would always get this excited. Yet he played off a good mask that hid away his ecstatic feeling just so Taehyung wouldn't think Jimin lied.

"Don't worry Jimin, after I go off to buy some groceries for this place, we can head out together... L-Like a date!" Taehyung stated, making Jimin laugh and look at the younger in confusion.

"Just say 'hang out' dating is for couples." Jimin added making Taehyung nervously smile and push back his glasses onto his face with his middle finger. "But.. I'll have to see if I can get my work done until then... No worries.." Jimin mentioned, watching Taehyung grow excited for at least Jimin spending time off to hang out with him. But, this only added onto what Jimin thought of Taehyung. Jimin believed Taehyung was easily jealous that the voice was able to sing Jimin to sleep and not him. The older man already knew Taehyung had a small interest on Jimin that always seemed to grow bigger when he would see Jimin was wanted by another. Taehyung only longed to protect the one he loved as a friend and a little bit as a love interest, yet Jimin only ignored the younger's feelings. Hoping it'll go away soon so Taehyung can just shake off the feeling and not let this interfere with their friendship.

Later on the day, it was the afternoon and Jimin dreaded from going too late but he almost had half of his work done and Taehyung was on his way to the grocery store as Jimin stayed in the living room of the apartment. Jimin was already wearing his outfit of choice, black jeans with yellow timberlands, a black shirt with just a black and white sleeved shirt under, and over his body was a white jacket.

Jimin gazed at the time quickly and took a flashlight and his recorder. In hopes of hearing something he needed to catch on tape. Jimin waited for Taehyung to leave for so long so he can run off and head up to the third floor and as soon as Taehyung left, Jimin was getting ready to head up the stairs.

Jimin left his apartment room only holding two objects to head up the third floor. Jimin took a moment and cleared his throat in slight fear as he started to walk the steps to the third floor for the first time. Slowly feeling a colder atmosphere like he just took a step outside in the cold.

Yet, Jimin's curiosity only covered up his fear and gave him rather an interested feeling in this whole third floor. Giving him purpose to keep climbing the steps as the way up the stairs grew darker and eventually leading to Jimin turning on his flashlights for the dark and eerie third floor he was soon to reach for the first time.
