“Sweetie Pie! Time for lunch! You’re having the gourmet dog food again! ” called a voice from a long distance. Sweetie Pie looked at the cats and said “I have to leave now, but remember, I have your scent. If you run away, I will find you. Understand? Stay here so that I can devour you when I get back in about ten minutes.” The cats nodded furiously and planted their feet. Sweetie Pie gave them one last quick glance and a weird look to Darktail (She was still going crazy) before heading over to his masters’ house. The cats waited until he was out of view and started a very quick and quiet conversation, should he come back before he said he would be. “Should we try to escape?” asked Brightnose. “You know him better than me.” “Yes, I think we should.” said Darktail (She had stopped panicking) “We would at least get a chance to escape, even if it failed. But if it didn’t, we would be free!” “And if it did, we would all be dead.” said Colorfur, putting in her negative two cents. “Or missing limbs and going insane from fright.” she added. “Speaking of insane, what happened, Darktail?” asked Brightnose. “She-” Darktail cut Colorfur off. “Don’t talk for me! I do that so I seem like less of a target, less of a threat. If there are tougher cats around, the enemy will save me for last, so I have a chance to escape. Understand now?” “Yeah, that's awesome!” purred Brightnose. Darktail smirked and twitched her tail as a sign of embarrassment and pride. Colorfur just quietly growled to show how “impressed” she was that Darktail was so trusting that she gave away some of her deepest secrets. “I was going to say that you can’t reveal your secrets, but you just revealed some of them. Don’t blame me when your plan fails because she was using them.” said Colorfur, giving Brightnose an irritated flick of her tail that plainly said You try to get my secrets, or any more of hers, then you’re dead. Then the cats heard a deep bark, followed by two or three other different, slightly higher-pitched ones, as if there were multiple dogs coming. The trio jumped up and were about to run away when Sweetie Pie and three other big, mean-looking dogs jumped in front of them and blocked their exit. Sweetie Pie said “These are my friends.” “Sweetie Pie invited us. We are hungry, being street dogs and all. He said that he had captured three cats for breakfast that he couldn’t eat alone, because he had had a special breakfast.”said the biggest dog. “And you can stop that, cat.” he said to Darktail. She stopped her act so suddenly that she couldn’t control her momentum and fell on her rear-end. “I have seen too many cats do that. You may think you made it up, but if that stupid Ginger cat were here, he would be doing it nonstop. Luckily, I put an end to that. He no longer walks this earth.” Darktail gulped and stood very still, so still that Sweetie Pie asked “Are you alive?” and leaned toward her. She hissed and spat and tried to scratch his face, but the other dogs were on her as soon as she had unsheathed her claws.

They pinned her down and one of the smaller ones was about to bite her neck and kill her when Sweetie Pie growled “Stop! She tried to hurt me, let me do the honors.” The smaller dog looked ashamed, and backed off, whining. Then he took off after a stray cat, and Brightnose could see their fight. It was not pretty. She couldn’t even tell who won! Brightnose  looked around and realized that the dogs had stopped blocking the exit so they could get Darktail and whispered to Colorfur, “Right before he bites her, jump on his back and bite his neck as hard as you can. While they’re distracted, I’ll free Darktail.” Colorfur nodded, too afraid for her friend to speak. Sweetie Pie bent down, his sharp teeth bared and ready to tear Darktail’s throat out. He latched his teeth lightly onto her throat so that she had lots of time to be afraid. As soon as he did so, Colorfur leaped onto his back and bit down, hard. He howled, dropped Darktail and tried to toss Colorfur off his back, but she held on tightly. Brightnose ran as hard as she could to get to Darktail and jumped into the middle of the group of dogs to get her out. She fought the smaller dogs and Colorfur fought Sweetie Pie and the bigger dog. It was a full scale cat and dog war!!!!
