"Ashton, what happened?" Kyle sat beside me and hugged so tightly that I could feel his warmth.

"Nothing much", I didn't try to act it out- I was gloomy and that's what I portrayed. Why hide what exactly I feel in front of the people I care about?

He gave me a 'I don't buy that shit' look. "Seriously?" He interrogated.

"It's just something that happened at home. I.... I don't feel like talking about it."

Yesterday
"You really want to know?" She asked.

I nodded.

Mom pinned me down, making me dit on the couch while she sat beside me. The tension was intense, she played with her hands indicating that something important is going to be spoken.

Something that should have been told long time ago.

"So it all started some years back...", she murmured. It was clear that she felt uncomfortable sharing it with me or anybody in particular. It felt like she was trying to forget this memory.

"Mom. Sharing helps", I consoled her.

She noted and started again, this time with some confidence, " me and your dad weren't always like that. At some point of time we used to be sweethearts completing each other's sentences.

We met in college and stayed in touch for a long time. Feelings develop, at first it seemed stupid, illogical and what not. I was even dating someone at that time, we broke up because of that same stupid feeling. But when he proposed me, everything felt right. I don't know the right way to put it in words, it was simply just right.

It assured me that I'm doing the right thing no matter what others think about it." She shred few tears but her stubborn self was trying hard to pull them back.

I pretty sure my stubbornness is from my mother..... that's not the point stupid.

I patted her back and rested my arm around her, in my attempt to console her. I don't know if it'll work or not.

"So... where was I?" She tried to calm herself and it, I don't know if it worked as a charm or not but it did something, probably. "Sorry Ashton....", she wiped her tears, " it's now or never."

She took a sip of water and continued her tale, " we married after few months of dating. I know that they are not much but when you know a person for a long time, dating was just an excuse. An excuse that was holding us back.

We're happily married.... till our first fight. My promotion cause ruckus in the family, things started falling apart. Our insecurities took control. His male ego was hurt badly when I started earning more than him. Maybe because of his friends or colleagues, his thoughts spread negative vibes and at that time, taking your care was a priority.

Few more fights, our distances grew. We even forgot about the feelings we shared. It was you and our insecurities, and we had to take a decision. We thought of taking a break from this mess, he left for his career and I took care of you and my job."

My heart broke. Dad left her. How could that be possible?

Mom held my hand and assured me. " Although I won your custody, your dad always loved you. Maybe the thought of seeing me again falter his own desires. Even though he left, he still cares about us, about you. We didn't work out, that's fine, most relationships don't. But it was so sudden that it still gives me chills."

I was speechless while she kept rubbing my hands. "Everything will be fine."

"Don't speak. At least smile." Kyle smiled while I laid my head on his shoulder. "I don't know what happened but I'll be glad to hear you out. Anytime and any day."

I slept comfortably.....
... or I wish I could but Kyle won't shut up.

"I know how to lighten up your day." And I don't know from where did this idea popped in his head.

I shot a 'are you serious?' look.

"Come on. I'll show you this place and let me tell you, your frown will soon turn into a smile. Kyle guaranteed." He smirked.

"Dude, are you a tour guide making me travel places?"

"I know one place that I'll love to take you there", he had a seductive grin on his face and pushed me against the wall, " and I'm pretty sure that you'll always be excited to go there."

Oh! I get it..

"Knock it off perv." I pushed him gently. He chuckled and then kissed my cheek. I was so warming.

My heart skipped a beat.

"Trust me. You'll love it." He assured.

I smiled, "where are we going this time?"

"It's a surprise." He started walking towards the door, before I could say something. "Meet me in the canteen."

"Sure. I'll just pack my back and meet you there." I answered.

"Ashton Levine?" A short blondie approached me.

"Ya."

"These people that you're hanging out with are not at all trustworthy. Trust me I'm warning you." She spoke.

"Who are you to say that about my friends?"

"Stella. Stella Mary Rosewood." She tried to shake hands with me but I stormed off.

"Ashton. Trust me, they'll betray you. They'll leave you one day. I'm warning you. Ashton." She screamed.

"Stella, you might be living in a deception. It might be some kind of misunderstanding. I trust my friends, maybe more than they deserve but as a matter of fact, I trust them more than I trust you. "

I stormed off.

"What took you so long?" Kyle asked.

"Sorry. My stuff was messier than I thought." I replied, " anyway, what did you buy?"

"Few sandwiches." He smiled, "the trip will be long." He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the back gate. "Let's go."

"Kyle, I just cleared one test. Rest are remaining."

"I'm sure that this will be way more important than a stupid test."

He threw our bags on the other side of the fence and made me jump off the cliff.
It was ' I believe I can fly' moment.
But nah, I broke my leg in the attempt.
Harsh reality.
