25|| Date Two

I slumped down onto Miya's bed as I watch the sun go down.

Maybe he changed his mind? Maybe he doesn't want to go any more...?

I sigh and pout.

Miya steps out of the bathroom and looks at me.

"What's wrong with you?" She asks as she dries her hair.

"Nothing." I sigh audibly.

"Do you want to go home?" She sits next to me.

Might as well.

"Yeah..." I nod and she stands up.

"But why do you look so depressed?" She peers at my face worriedly and I shake my head.

"No reason." I force a smile and she sighs before grabbing the fur hat she gave to me.

"I'll go with you to drop you off." She puts the hat on me and smiles.

I smile back and follow her out of the room.

Walking down the hallway I hear Kaoru call out to me. "KAKO!"

I turn around and he jogs up to me.

"Oh... Kaoru..." I look down.

Is he here to tell me that we're not going?

I bite my bottom lip. "Where are you going?" He asks.

"H-Home..." I say without looking up.

"B-But why? Aren't we gonna go ice-skating...?"

I look up. "But it's... It's dark out." I say and he shrugs.

"I wanted to go at night. It's more fun and roman-" He stops himself and smiles. "Let's go now." He grabs my hand.

"K-Kaoru?!" I look back at Miya and she waves.

"Don't come back until you're officially together!" She yells and I feel my face grow hot.

We both get into the limousine and I try to avoid looking at him.

Our second date... Wait... Is this a date?

I slowly turn my head to look him only to find him staring at me.

"Woah!" We both jump away from each other and look away.

Oh god... What do I do? This is so awkward.

I sigh exasperatedly at my idiocy.

But he was staring at me... Does he like me? Miya said he did... Do I like him? Ah! Kaoru you confuse me!

"Like is something you can explain and love is something... unexplainable."

I hear Miya's voice say.

The car suddenly stops and I grab Kaoru's wrist out of surprise.

"Oh!" He looks at my hand and then up at me.

"S-sorry!" Just as I was about to pull away, he takes my hand and pulls me out of the car.

I look around and see a huge outdoor ice-skating rink right in front of me.

"Here you are Mr. Hitachiin." The chauffeur holds up two pairs of ice skates.

"I told you to call me Kaoru." Kaoru let's go of my hand and smiles as he takes the ice skates.

The chauffeur smiles and bows before going back into the car.

"Here." He holds out a pair of white ice-skates. I take the skates and he pulls me over to a nearby bench. I stare at him as he puts his skates on. "Kako?" He looks up and I squeak.

"Ah!" I quickly look down and start taking off my shoes.

After putting my skates on I look back up at Kaoru who was smiling at me.

In a panic, I stand up but end up falling back down onto Kaoru.

"I-I'm sorry!" I try to stand up again but my legs wobble and I fall back once more.

I hear him chuckle. "Relax." He whispers into my ear.

I get off him and move myself to sit next to him.

He stands up and holds his hand out to me. "Come on." He takes my hand and carefully pulls me up.

"W-woah!" I fall forward and Kaoru holds me.

Agh Luna!

He smiles and starts walking toward the rink, holding my hand tightly.

"I-I don't think I can manage... I can't even walk properly outside of the rink..." I say and hear him chuckle.

"Don't worry..." He turns around and smiles charmingly. "I'll stay with you."

Badum badum

I hear my heart beat through my ears.

"O-Okay..." I nod and look down.

We reach the entry and Kaoru gets onto the ice.

He turns around and holds both of his hands out. I take his hand and carefully get on the ice.

With one foot on the ice I start to slip. "A-Ah!" I end up doing the splits and Kaoru laughs as he helps me up.

"D-don't laugh!" I say as I cling onto him.

He grins and wraps an arm around my waist whilst his other hand holds my hand tightly.

I look up at him and he looks down. "Careful." We slowly start to move.

"I-I want to..." I look at the edge of the rink and Kaoru follows my gaze.

"It's easier to learn without holding on to the edge." He looks at me and smiles a little.

"O-Okay..." I nod obediently and we start moving again. "H-How did you learn how to ice-skate?" I ask, trying to make it less awkward.

"I'm only new to it... Miya liked to ice-skate so we would come here once in a while and I eventually got used to it..." He says looking forward.

"Miya's opened up many doors for you and Hikaru, huh?" I say and he nods.

"It's not just Miya..." He smiles. "Recently I met someone that has changed my perspective of everything..."

Met someone...?

"Is it a girl?" I ask.

"Yeah..." He smiles lovingly.

That smile... Does he like her?

"She made my dull and boring world a fun and bright place."

"D-Do you l-like her?" I ask.

He shakes his head and looks at me.

I felt a little relieved at his answer.

"I love her."
