chapter four

He took surreptitious steps through the kitchen door in order to not waking up any family member. Putting his phone on the kitchen counter, he headed towards the refrigerator and opened its door. As he peeked inside, the view brought a tsunami in his mouth.

"Yum yum!"
Licking his lips ravenously, he gloated at the bowlful of his favorite, Kimchi. He took out the bowl from the fridge and put it on the front counter.

"Wait here, sweetheart. Daddy's just gonna be back with a spoon and a pair of chopsticks."
Patting the bowl softly, he whispered to the food, as if it would really hear him, and he turned to take the utensils while humming his favorite song.

"𝙾𝚑 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝

𝙳𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚛𝚢

𝙸'𝚕𝚕 𝚋𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎

𝚆𝚑𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚠𝚊𝚗𝚝 𝚖𝚎

𝙸 𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚍 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚋𝚘𝚍𝚢 𝚠𝚑𝚘 𝚌𝚊𝚗....."

"Where have you been?"

The spoon and chopsticks fell down from his hands as he heard a female voice in the background.

"Ahh!"
Letting out a shriek, he put his hand on his chest in fright, "Mom! Why do you have to scare me like that all the time?" His tightened muscles loosened when he found his mother standing in the doorstep.

"I asked something." She said, completely ignoring his horrified state.

"What?" He questioned while picking up the utensils.

"Where Have You Been?" Emphasizing on each and every word, she inquired, stepping into the kitchen.

"Oh, it's nothing." Heading towards the bowl of kimchi, he said and began to pay his full attention to the food. "Just had to meet a formal friend, so it took me a little long to be back." He said, while chiming in.

Mrs Park stood for one good second to take in his words.

"Just a formal friend of yours took so long that you didn't realize what time it is? And you even have a home where your family would be concerned for you?"

Jimin's grip tightened on the spoon but he considered it better to not begin any argument this time and fixated his eyes on his meal. Trying his best to ignore her, he dug the spoon into the bowl and filled it up, shoving it in his mouth.

"When will you acknowledge that you are a man of twenty-eight now?" Mrs Park continued, "Stop being a kid, Jimin. Grow up and accept your responsibilities. You know it deep down your father has great expectations from you. You have a family where- "

"Mom please," He raised his hand up, "DO NOT deliver the same old lecture again. Family, home, parents, care....such words don't suit your mouth. You always profess that I never tried to fulfill the duty of a good son and I have always been a careless and irresponsible member of your so-called family. You always believe that I spend my time in useless and vulgar activities." He paused for a moment and looked at his mother's face, then continued, "But did you even try to ask why at this time I had to meet my friend? Are you really sure I have been committing vulgar activities? "

At his questions, Mrs Park stood still for one second...but the very next second she remembered that he was PARK JIMIN. He never did something remarkable that would be remembered as good deed. It was not that he couldn't do anything good. She knew he was excellent in doing any task and she was proud of him for that. He was intelligent and competent. He was smart, brilliant...but he was not a good boy. He always made her proud by excelling in academics. He was extremely proficient in holding his father's business. Unknowingly, he cared about everything. If he knew how he satisfied his family and made them proud, he would efface their joys delights given by him.

"Speak up, Mom."

Jimin's demand brought her back to the present moment,

"Tell me." he said.

"Don't tell me you've been from any church, because I know you. Hooligans, alcohol, girls, and that's it. You can't ever go far from that. She sneered at her son. Her tone full of poison enraged Jimin to the peak. Throwing the utensils on the kitchen counter, he turned to his mother.

"Why can't you just step out of that old traditional mother's land? Why do you mothers always think your sons would doing something definitely sinful?" He fumed in rage. But she could sense the hurt in his tone.

"You wanna know where I have been?" He immediately put out his cellphone from his pants' front pocket and held it to her.

"One of my hooligan friend's mother had to have a double lung transplant. They didn't have enough money to do that operation and needed my help. But your so-called husband has removed all the balance from the account, perhaps hiding it in his secret bank account somewhere. So I had to sell my car for them to pay all the bills. I had to stay with them all the time, and right now I am returning from the hospital after her successful surgery. If you don't believe me, take the phone and check it. First number on the recent dials is my hooligan friend's contact. "

Putting the cellphone on her hand, he told her everything from A to Z and left the kitchen, leaving his mother mute for some seconds. Mrs Park's eyes fixed on the phone in his hands and then on the kitchen doorway from where just had left, and then her eyes glued on the kitchen counter, on the bowl of kimchi. Just like always, sense of guilt hit her, again.

She immediately ran to stop him and explain the misunderstanding but her feet caught a break at his voice.

"No, I'm tired right now and I don't want to hear anything."

Climbing upstairs, he gave his mother a good night signal and before she would have another glimpse of his, he was already in his room, turning and twisting oh his bed, trying to sleep with an empty stomach.

"Driver at your service, ma'am." He bowed half before her as he saw her coming towards him.

"Yeah no drama, Younghoon!"
Giving him a slight hit with her hand-clutch oh the arm, she said.

Younghoon frowned, "Ow, girl! Be careful. You know I have a delicate body." Wriggling his arms in the air, he whined in a girlish way.

She rolled her eyes, "Will you just shut up and get in the car already?"

"New Audi! Must be gifted from your Dad!" Younghoon commented, gliding his fingertips on the roof of the car.

"Probably," she gave a half shrug, "Last one is disappeared since I woke up this morning." Opening the front door, she settled herself on the seat.

A wrinkle appeared on Younghoon's forehead, "What? Why?"

"That's exactly what I've been asking Jimin, but as always, no good response!" She sighed.

Younghoon thought for a moment before speaking up, "Then this is surely from Jimin." He walked around the car, examining it keenly...and praising the taste inwardly.

"You think so, that bastard's not so good to gift me an Audi!" Her face expression went into a very distasteful one, "He doesn't even tell me what the hell happened to my driver. Now quit this interrogation and get in, will you?"

"May I know to where is the plan and what is this ugly duckling doing with you again?"

Younghoon's hand stopped on the knob. Both his and Y/N's heads turned to the voice and they saw their biggest enemy so far coming towards their direction. Younghoon turned to him.

"Hey dude why are you calling her ugly duckling? She's your sister." throwing a grin, he tried to put his arm on Jimin's shoulder which he slapped away as soon as he reached Younghoon. His eyes glued on Younghoon's face

"First, don't you again call her my sister with your mouth...ever." Jimin pointed a finger at him, "And second, I am talking to her already."

Younghoon's eyes bugged out as he found Jimin's finger almost touching his nose.

"Ookay!" He snickered nervously, putting Jimin's finger down, and said, "But why don't you like her being called your sister, I mean every time I say this to you, every time you get angry."

"Not your bloody business." Jimin spoke through his teeth, "Just keep to yourself or I'll cut off your round nose and give it in your hand_ "

"Jimin, just stop it, okay!" Y/N got out of the car, "How many times do I have to tell you not to behave like that with him?"

"And how many times do I have to tell you not to ramble with this toad?"

Younghoon snorted at his constant insult. He crossed his arms on his chest and warned Jimin.

"Watch your language Mr Park, one more insulting nickname and you will be responsible for the consequences."

Jimin's brow hiked at the dialogue. He turned to his direction and stared directly in his eyes, stepping closer.

"Really?"

Younghoon gulped, taking a step back. Y/N stepped between both the males. Pushing them backwards, she said.

"Enough of this shit, you two!"

Jimin grabbed her arm and snarled.

"You will not go with him."

Y/N's face turned into a frowning one,
"He is my boyfriend."

"Doesn't seem to me."
Jimin's denial was quick. Y/N squinted her eyes.

"That's your problem." She replied, leaving him writhe, and turned to Younghoon.

"Let's go." She told him and headed to the car door. Jimin's words stopped her hand in the midway as she was going to turn the knob.

"You will not go with him or I'll tell Dad that you were pregnant with his child and just have had an abortion."

Both Y/N's and Younghoon's eyes became large at what Jimin had just said, but before Younghoon would say something, Y/N almost shouted.

"What the fuck! That's a lie. I didn't_"

"You know, he knows, and I know it's a lie. Dad doesn't." A devilish smirk pasted on Jimin's lips, "Now the choice is yours."

He turned to go inside. Y/N ran her fingers through her hair, writhing restlessly at his evil thought.

"Don't worry, baby. He won't do such any such thing. I know he's just overprotective in your case, that's it." Younghoon threw a warm smile at her, "Now cheer up and get in the car."

Grabbing the car door-knob, she scoffed.

"You think so, that asshole is way more cunning than you would ever imagine_"

"Driver at your service, Miss Park."

Her hand immediately left the knob as a thick and deep voice rose behind her, frightening her to the core.

"What the hell! Who are you?"

She yelled as soon as she found him standing behind her.

"Just introduced myself. I am your new driver, Miss Park."

He replied, keeping his voice as low and soft as he could.

"You scared us, man!" Younghoon sighed, but before he would say anything else, Y/N exclaimed out of surprisal.

"What? Who hired you for being my driver?"

"Mr Park Jimin." Answered the male, "And he has also left the strict order that I am going to go with you every where you go."

"That bastard!"

Aggressed to her peak, she bellowed, balling her fists.

"Get the fuck out of here!" She shouted, "I am not his servant, I am my own commander. I will do whatever I want."

Before she would open the door, his voice grabbed her attention again.

"Miss Park, you can't go anywhere as you do not have the keys, I do."

She watched him for a second in silence. How a servant was  using his force on her!

"How the fuck dare you stop me? Don't forget you are my servant. I can dismiss you in a second!"

The contemptuous tone of hers made him writhe him but he couldn't do anything for he really was a servant.

"I am sorry, Miss Park." He apologized with a tone deadpan, "But I have to do what I am told."

Before she would bellow at him, Younghoon spoke in the middle.

"Leave it Y/N. It's ok! Let's not waste anymore time and go."

Jimin didn't miss a chance to exasperate them in any way today. His so-called hired driver fastened with them like a leech. Any where they would go, he would be with them more like a bodyguard rather than a driver. They didn't have a peaceful duration at anything, neither at shopping, nor at lunch. Even at the movie time, he requested them to finish quickly.

"You can not stay out of sight for long, Miss Park. We have to go back home before evening."

"First stop calling me Miss Park, it's annoying. And second_ would you, for fucks sake, let me breathe freely for at least one second?"

She exclaimed exasperatedly...only to hear the same reply again.

"Excuse me for disturbing you Madam, but this is Mr Park Jimin's order."

"Urghh!!" She exclaimed in indignation, "fuck you very much Park Jimin!"

"You know what Y/N, I guess we should just get back home." Younghoon heaved out a melancholic breath.

"No Younghoon. I can't let him ruin my day."

"It's already ruined," he resisted her protest, "just let it be for some other day. " The sullenness in his tone could be sensed easily.

"No wait," she spoke up abruptly, finding him taking steps back to go, but he was disgusted with all that.

She turned to the driver and fumed, "Get me back home."

He gave a slight nod on the command and opened the car door. Before getting in the car, she turned to him and hissed in wrath.

"And you are getting fired, today."

His face color changed at her words but he didn't let his inner feeling be expressed on his face. Instead he got his face a bit aside in order to let her signify to get in.

Just when she was going to settle in, the atmosphere roared with a loud bang and a bullet passed by her, making a hole in the car_ and then another...and then another.

"Ahh!"

A scream came out of her mouth in fright at the sudden attack.

"Get in the car, Madam!"

He shouted and made her sit inside immediately. Her hands went all sweaty and cold due to the abrupt change of the situation. Her car was still in the target.

"What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?" Her voice was trembling out of fear.

"Get down, " he said quickly, "and do not raise your head!"

She nodded briefly at his instruction. Just when he was opening the front door, a bullet came shooting him in the back of the shoulder.

"Ah!"

A painful groan left his mouth. Y/N's eyes bugged out as she found him bleeding. She screamed in fright.

"Driver!!"
