chapter five

"Driver!!"
A scream full of fright escaped from her mouth. For a moment blood froze in her veins and her heart stopped. And the very next moment she found herself struggling to get out of the car.

"Stay in!" He shouted, "we don't want to get in more trouble." He settled himself in the front seat and without tying the seatbelt, he gave a key to the engine. Her back hit the back of the seat with a yank as his foot pressed the accelerator.

With every passing second the speed of the car was increasing and so was Y/N's heartbeat as she watched blood dripping off his shoulder and coloring his white uniform. His capacity was getting low and his shoulder hurt, very much. He felt like some sort of poison was filling in his veins as his body started to burn because of the pain. She managed to come forward and help him drive the car, but it was difficult to drive sitting in the backseat and reaching out to the steering wheel.

That was the reason despite her thousand attempts she couldn't hold control on the drive and the car went out of hand, smashing in a small store beside the road, resulting both of them to lose the consciousness.

He was sitting on his father's seat in the meeting room of the office. Around him were sitting senior staff members and some foreign businessmen surrounding a big round table. His father's secretary, Min Yoongi, was explaining important points on a big screen.

Crossing his legs on his chair he averted his gaze from the screen to the businessmen time to time, praying in his heart to get the tender. This project was important for him because Dad had handed it over to him before going to Japan to complete another of the projects.

Jimin hated all this. He didn't want to be stuck with this business shit. He knew the repercussions given by his father of a minor lapse, that was the reason he refused to take the project in his hands. But Dad gave him that anyway, lecturing about the coming future of their business and that someday it was Jimin who was going to run all that etcetera.

And for that, he sat here, trying his best to make partnership with them. He felt weird sitting among that group of six old men. But this was not the time to wonder about the age difference between him and those people, so he concentrated on his skills to tame them.

The meeting was about to end when his phone vibrated inside his coat's pocket. A wrinkle appeared on his forehead as he saw an unknown number on the screen.

"Excuse me, please."

He asked the people politely and came out of the meeting room.

"Who's this?"

Ha said as he picked the call. And his head span at the news given to him. He felt like his soul left his body. His lips trembled.

"Firing on Y/N?"

⋇⋆✦⋆⋇

The news of firing on Y/N shook Jimin's heart. He didn't remember how he came all the way from the corridor to the office building's parking lot and how rapidly he started his car's engine. All he remembered was Y/N and her angelic face that was running in his mind like a film. The pressure of his foot on the accelerator was increasing with each and every second but still he thought the speed was not enough. How he wished he could fly to Y/N.

Parking his car in the hospital's parking lot, he immediately got out of the car and taking quick long steps, he reached the reception.

"Excuse me, where is Miss Park Y/N's ward?"

The receptionist was busy at the phone and didn't hear him. Jimin watched her silently for a moment and when it got unbearable for him to take it anymore, he banged his fist on the reception counter and growled.

"I asked something!"

The heavy sound of the bang frightened the receptionist. She immediately put receiver at the cradle and said.

"What kind of discourtesy is this? This is hospital and we don't allow any type of noi- "

"Skip this shit and tell me the ward number of miss Park Y/N."

Snapping her sentence in the middle, he spoke up. The receptionist looked at him for a moment and said.

"I am sorry but we can't share hospital's information with anyone before knowing  visitor's relation with patient."

Only Jimin and his God knew how hard he kept control on his boiling rage. He took in one sharp breath and said.

"Look, my name is Park Jimin. Miss Park Y/N is my family member. She's had an accident and I've been told that she is brought here. Here take my NIC if you still don't believe me."

Putting his card on the counter with a force, he waited for her reaction as she picked it up. A brief gasp let out of her mouth as she saw the details on his NIC.

Knowing that he was the son of the same person that miss Park Y/N's NIC described, her palms went sweaty. Park Jaemin had a name in his field. Not only for his business, but there were many more reasons. He had deep relations with press, media, politicians and police department. And this was not a secret. Everybody knew how powerful he was.

"I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Park." Bowing a little, she apologized, "Please let me check the information on the computer."

She turned to the computer screen and started typing something on the keyboard. After a few seconds she turned to Jimin again and said.

"Miss Park Y/N's ward is on the second floor." She told him the ward number and picked up his NIC to return. And Jimin who was constantly shifting his weight from one leg to another time to time, stood straight and, snatching his card from her, he said sarcastically.

"Thank you for wasting my time!"

And after a few minutes, he was in front of her ward.

"Y/N!"  Entering the ward immediately, he called out. She was laying unconscious on the stretcher. Seeing a bandage on her forehead which had a slight stain of blood, he rushed towards her. A nurse, who was putting some surgery tools in the tray, looked back at once and spoke up in a low voice.

"Excuse me, Sir. You can't shout like this. Patient is under the influence of medicine. Unseasonable awakening can disturb her health."

Ignoring the nurse's words, he questioned impatiently.

"Where did she get shot, sister?"

Anybody could tell how crazy Jimin was getting by seeing her like this. Noticing his condition, she said to comfort him.

"Calm down, Sir. She didn't get shot anywhere. Her unconsciousness is just because of those tremors she received in the car. The cuts she received are because of small glass shards that pricked her on forehead. Other than that she's absolutely okay. She will wake up after almost an hour. "

The nurse's explanation gave him a little relief as he closed his eyes slowly with a low sigh and sat lazily at the side of her stretcher. His eyes were glued on her face and his mind was again stuck in so many perils when the nurse's voice took him out of his thoughts.

"However, the man brought with her_ I guess he was her driver...was shot on shoulder."

His eyes opened widely at the revelation. This time he jumped up from the stretcher.

"What?" He exclaimed out of shock, "where is he now?"
The fear of Y/N getting shot made him forget that he had sent her with Taeho. Now that the nurse informed about a man, his mind blew confoundedly. His bewilderment was watchable.

"He was badly injured as the bullet was shot at a slight distance from his heart. Depletion was also severe so he was directly referred to the ICU. Bullet has been taken out but he's still not completely out of danger."

The nurse's words hit his mind like a hammer.

"Take me to him."
He asked the nurse impatiently. She nodded and replied.

"Sure, please follow me."

And he followed her, making his way to the ICU. As they reached the spot, the nurse said.

"As nobody is allowed inside, I would like you to stay here while I call the doctor to check up on him."

He gave a brief nod to her as he watched him through the glass door. At the outside, he was calmly seeing that man who lay on the stretcher out of senses. But in the inside there were so many thoughts, leaving him restless.

The life of this man had gotten important for him. It was really necessary for him stay alive because it would have been very difficult for him to cope with the situation if he had died. Especially when his father was not here. He wouldn't be able to stop the investigation office from interference and it would iron out the way to that point where the secret enmities of his father were hiding.

He wanted to sort it out in his own way, because if Dad came to know about it, he would definitely drag him for closing his eyes from the dark side of the business. He didn't want his father to know about this.

But that's what he wanted. He didn't know that the matter had gotten worse.

"Jimin!"

A deep voice was heard behind him. But he immediately regretted his action as he turned to face the person. His father, Park Jaemin, stood in front of him with an alarming expression. His hands in his pants' pockets and his gaze piercing through Jimin's body. Jimin could tell his face turned pale for a second because he knew what his father hid behind his extremely calm face. Jimin opened his mouth...

"I can explain-"

"I know everything." Dad snapped in the middle, " Why don't sit somewhere to discuss this matter?" He added. A slight smirk played on his lips but instead of getting impressed, Jimin was frightened.

Jimin acceded and they went to the family waiting room.

"Okay now tell me, what did you do with her previous driver?" Jaemin asked as soon as he sat opposite Jimin on the benches.

Jimin didn't expect that question out of the blue. His sitting action stopped in the middle as Jaemin's words hit his hearing. Jaemin gestured him to sit. Heaving out a deep sigh, he sat down on his seat.

"I've fired him." He replied. Jaemin's eyebrow hiked a little as he questioned.

"Why?"

"Because of his poor driving, he had hit a car, causing the person die soon after." He tried to keep it as brief as possible. He didn't want to discuss this matter. In actual he didn't want to discuss any matter to him. He knew his father kept every information and this was above his mind why he was inquiring from him.

Jaemin nodded briefly at his answer before saying, "Where is he now?"

"I've sent him out of this country."

"Sent? Why not get him killed?" Jaemin said with brows furrowed.

Jimin's eyes bugged out at his father's words.

"What?" Jimin exclaimed, on which Jaemin gestured him speak lowly. For some brief moments Jimin watched his father in shock. How cruel could someone be?

Jimin licked his dry lips before adding, "How could I get him killed while knowing deep down that he was not completely on fault?"

"Who do you think was on fault then?"

"Y/N was also on fault for she had ordered him to drive fast."

Jaemin bit his inner cheek as he heard Jimin's reason. Giving a slow nod, he said.

"Well, maybe we should talk on it later."

"No. Maybe we shouldn't talk on it ever. I think I've solved that matter."

Jaemin's brows once again hiked at Jimin's response.

"You think!" Jaemin's words boiled his blood but there was nothing he could do but wince. Jimin turned his face, disgusted.

"Forget about that, tell me where were you when you received the news about Y/N?" The older man inquired, tapping his foot aggressively on the marbled floor as they sat opposite to each other on the benches.

Jimin's entwined hands resting on his knees as he leaned a little forward. Eyes fixated on the floor. He lifted up his gaze at his father's question and looking directly into his eyes, Jimin replied.

"At the office."

"How?"

"By an unknown number."

"Give me your phone."

Jimin expected something like that. He took out his phone and threw it on the table placed between them. Jaemin sent him one long silent glare for that rudeness and picked up the phone.

Going through received calls record, he spoke up.

"What were you told?"

"That Y/N's shot and is the hospital," Jimin squinted his eyes at the question, "Why?"

After taking that number from his phone, Jaemin forwarded it to Jimin. As he took it back, Jaemin said.

"Because I didn't just get informed, but also received threats." He adjusted his coat, sitting straight.

"What?" Jimin's astonishment was on peak, "what threats?"

"He said I am lucky that Y/N is still alive. She could be dead, or maybe next time-"

"Excuse me, who is Park Jimin amongst you?"

Asked a male nurse, interrupting them between the conversation. Both of them turned their gazes to the guy.

"It's me."
Jimin replied, standing up from his seat.

"Your patient, the boy, is back in senses. You can see him, but be careful as anything stressful can worsen his condition."

Jimin nodded shortly giving a quick hmm to the nurse as he left the waiting room and made his way to the ICU. Jaemin also got along with him.

Taeho kept his eyes closed due to the debility still felt in his body, but with the squeak of the door his eyes opened slowly and his head turned a little to the direction.

Seeing Jimin enter, his lips curved in a slight smile as an assurance about his condition. But as soon as his eyes fell on the figure coming behind him, the smile on his lips shrank and his eyes opened to the fullest. He tried to get up when Jimin leapt to him and spoke up.

"What are you doing? Lie down. It's not good for you to do such abrupt motions."

But it seemed like Taeho didn't hear him at all as his eyes were still glued on that person. Jaemin introduced himself as he came closer.

"I'm Park Jaemin, Jimin's and Y/N's father. I'm truly grateful to you for saving my daughter's life. The way you flirted with your own life and saved her, is a favour that I think I wouldn't be able to repay. You're such a brave man. Thanks again son."

Jaemin passed him a smile, a genuine one, on which Jimin rolled his eyes. Dad's such an actor, he thought. His thought also had a reason. Jaemin had never been thankful to anyone in his life. How was it possible he was thanking a servant?

Taeho tried to smile back as he replied in a thick, raspy voice.

"I'm honoured."

"What's your name, boy?"
Jaemin asked sitting on the nearby bench.

"Taeho. Kim Taeho."
His voice was low but it felt like a bomb to Jaemin. He stopped on the spot and his eyes immediately fell again on the boy. Jaemin's face changed color and anyone could tell that.

"Kim Taeho?"

His lips trembled.
