shattered into
shards

there is beauty in

and it took too long
for me to realize it

because
crushed violet petals
are being pressed
for diary pages

because
accidentals
are the foundation of
jazz

because
doors swinging off their
hinges
still offer shelter from the
storms

because
shattered hearts and
plucked, snapped heartstrings
-if able to be broken-
were never really whole.
