Evie, a girl living in Essex with her mother and governess is young, stubborn, but with a strong devotion to her family. After a year with no news of her father, she yearns for a single letter to ensure that he is well and is safely settled in Port Royal. Seeing as though there is no hope she takes matters into her own hands, for fear that her ailing mother will soon lose herself in her sorrow. Willing to do just about anything for her family she thinks of the most dangerous of plans and who better to accompany her than an old childhood friend, Peter.

Evie has known him all her childhood but what happens when she doesn't see the boy from so long ago, all she sees now is a man who forces her in the most dire situations that threaten not only the laws shes known all her life but her beliefs.

Pirates are real, she knows this but what about women with tails.
