The People In the park
P.O.V Jerome
I looked at the nurse for a second then back at Samantha who recovered her eye. The bullies, that she must have beat up, limped into the room and layed down on the beds. I was trying so hard to hold back laughter. The nurse sighed and place an ice pack on Samantha’s eye and walked over to the boys.
“What happened to you guys now?” she asked them with a strict voice. One of the boys groaned and turned to the nurse. “A crazy b*tch beat us up.” he told her. I sat down next to Samantha blocking their view of her. She looked at me with her good eye.
“If they found out…” she started. I stopped her not wanting her to talk about it anymore then she has to. “It is fine, they are known bullies here. You will not get in trouble.” I told her as the nurse came over to check Samantha’s eye. “It is almost healed,” she spoke to us in a hush voice. “And your eye has turned back to normal.” she whispered. One of the guys groaned and looked straight at Samantha, I watched as his face of pain to horror. “WHAT IS SHE DOING HERE!?” the guy screamed at the top of his lounges. The nurse closed the current where the guys lay there freaking out. The nurse looked at Samantha who covered her face crying.
“Why me?” I heard her say. “Why do I have to be this cursed demon.” I hugged Samantha tight against me so the nurse couldn’t hear her talking about it. The nurse tapped my shoulder and handed me a green pass. “Take this and take her home,” she whispered. “Have her come here tomorrow to talk.” I nodded and grabbed the pass still holding Samantha, who has now fallen asleep in my arms. The power made he really weak and tired, so I didn't even try to wake her. I slowly picked her up and walked her out of the school, and headed home. We lived fairly close, but it was still a long walk. So I started to think about the past, and when I first met her.
[Flash back]
I stood in the group of kids as the bullies beat up one of the new girls in the school. She screamed in pain as one of the boys laid a punch to her face. I could her whine as she struggled to move away from the bullies. I pushed the crowd away and used my strength to push the bullies away. They looked surprised that a small kid like me had that much force, but they didn’t know I was Bacca. We were born to move people like them. The girl looked up at me with pain in her eyes.
“Back. Away” she whispered as her eyes glowed white as the snow. I knew from the stories that she had some form of Herobrine. I quickly grabbed her and forced her head into my shoulder as I could feel everything lift around me.
“It is okay, I am here with you.” I repeated to her. Soon everything was put back on the ground. I kept holding her until her mom showed up at the school and touched my shoulder. I was so scared to open my eyes, but her voice was soft. “Thank you. You can let her go now.” I looked at the girl I just saved as she slept in my arms. I looked around to see only a few teachers standing around us. “Come on I know your dad, I will take you home Jerome.” she spoke to me again. I slowly let go of the girl and her mother slowly took her from my arms. I got up from my spot and walked behind the women. We climbed into the car and I was driven home.
“Samantha.” I looked at the women. “Her name is Samantha.”
[Back to present]
I stopped at a park bench remembering the first time seeing Samantha. I looked around the park with only seeing six people hanging out on the swings. A girl moved her hair out of her face as she watched the boy who was swinging. The younger of the boys looked over to Samantha and I, and motioned the taller of the guys over. I had a bad feeling about sitting here, but I was tired from carrying Samantha. The younger of the boys came up to me and looked at Samantha then me.
“Hey dude, what are you doing?” he asked with suspicion in his voice. The other also showed up, but the girl who stayed back watching from the background. “Resting,” I spoke, “My friend is not feeling good so I am taking her home.” the shorter guy stepped forward and touched Samantha neck softly making she had a pulse. I quickly slapped his hand away. “She is fine. I have a pass, see.” I showed them. The taller guy laughed and then spoke, he sounded like Kermit.
“That is just a little note. You could have written that up.” I looked over to Samantha again and sighed. Samantha started to wake up and move around. I grabbed her before she banged her against the bench arm. “Jerome where are we?” I heard her ask when she looked at the people in front of them. “um. Hello” she looked at them. The girl walked up and pushed the guys away. “Away you people.” she told them, but the shorter guy still stood there. “Jason!” she called him over. Samantha looked at me then around her. “Are we going home or something?” she asked. I nodded and grabbed her hand helping her up. The girl looked at us again, “I am sorry about the guys, I am Dawn by the way.” she smiled at us. “I am Samantha, and this is Jerome.” Samantha introduced us, like she always does. “Nice meeting you, hey come and hang out with us tomorrow after school for you guys.” we both nodded and left the park heading home.
