Chapter 7

After the Games, everyone who fought was bandaged up and healed.

You were standing outside, staring up into the, now, night sky.

"I watched your fight with Sting." A deep voice said behind you. You didn't even have to turn around to know who it was. "You did?" You asked, grinning.

"Yeah," Laxus walked up and stood beside you. "you definitely put him in his place."

"Thanks." You smiled, "Sorry, I couldn't watch your fight."

"Don't worry about it." He shrugged it off.

"How are your injuries?"

"Fine. Jura definitely did a number on me though."

"Yeah, I believe you. Sucks that my match with him ended in a tie."

"You would've won."

"Think so? I mean, he is a Wizard Saint."

"Use your secret arts. They pack a punch."

You smiled at your boyfriend's words. Your secret arts did pack quite a punch. Just ask Sting.

The King of Fiore soon appeared, telling everyone that he needed to make an announcement. He told us that dragons were coming to attack us. And not just two or three. No, ten thousand dragons were coming.

He ordered an immediate evacuation of the city, except for wizards.

"Please," The King begged, "protect this town. No, protect this country."

Obviously, everyone agreed. And it wasn't long after before you heard a deafening roar.

"They're here." You stated seriously.

The guilds decided to split up to cover more ground. Fortunately, instead of ten thousand dragons attacking, there were only seven.

Unfortunately, not every guild had a Dragon Slayer.

To ease everyone's worries, Natsu reminded the wizards that Dragon Slayers exist for this very reason - to defeat dragons.

Large eggs fell from the sky, cracking and revealing smaller, yet still threatening, dragons.

Wizards who did not use Dragon Slaying Magic focused on attacking the little dragons. Meanwhile, the Dragon Slayers attacked the Dragons.

You and Phoebe were running (and flying) through the ruins of Crocus, having been sent away by Laxus who said he could handle the fire dragon all by himself.

You were looking for a dragon to fight. Or at least, something to fight.

You heard a yelp of pain and ran in that direction.

"Get back, Lector!" You heard.

Lector?

As you got closer, you saw Sting fighting a dragon with Lector not too far behind him.

Lector obeyed Sting, running farther back.

Well, I found a dragon. You groaned. Wish it was someone else fighting it though.

You ran toward Sting and the dragon, mentally preparing yourself for a fight.

Phoebe flew over to Lector.

"This thing's stronger than I thought." Sting growled in frustration. None of his attacks were working.

"What's the matter, Sting?" You smirked. He whipped his head around to see you. "I thought you were a true Dragon Slayer who could 'defeat Acnologia if he had the chance'." Sting's eyes showed evidence of guilt. "Not so easy fighting a dragon, now is it?" You added.

"No . ." He mumbled.

"Reality can be gruesome." You sighed.

Sting looked as though he was lost in thought about something. But was this really the best time to zone out?

Ignoring him, you attacked the dragon. "Storm Dragon's Roar!"

The attack hit the dragon, but it didn't seem to phase him in any way.

"A Storm Dragon Slayer?" The dragon questioned, "Those are rare. Who taught you that magic?"

"Tempest." You answered. Why does he wanna know who taught me my magic? "She was my mom."

"I see." The dragon hummed.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Suddenly, the dragon charged at you, raising its claw. You jumped to dodge, but you underestimated the speed of this dragon. You had just barely gotten your feet off of the ground when its claw slashed your entire body.

From your chest to your ankles, there were three large claw marks which were open, as if you were being operated on, and bleeding profusely.

"(Y/N)!" Phoebe screamed at the top of her lungs.

This seemed to snap Sting out of his daydream. His head shot up just in time to see your body hit the ground.

He ran to your side without thinking, gawking in horror at the state of your body.

Strangely, you didn't feel any pain. Everything was numb, but you could feel your heartbeat slowing down.

"(Y/N), wha-what happened?" Sting asked, surprised to find himself crying.

"Are you crying?" You joked with half a grin. Your voice was horse and raspy. "I didn't think the Sting Eucliffe could cry."

"Stop talking." He pleaded.

"Why . . . are you . . . crying?" Now, it was becoming harder to talk due to the shortness of breath.

"Be-Because y-you . . . . you're-!" Sting chocked back a cry that was begging to be released.

"Heh," You lightly laughed. "you've. . . changed . . . . S-Sting . . . just . . . a . . . little . . ." The blond could hear the breath leaving you - your last breath.

Wha-What have I done? Sting gritted his teeth as endless tears ran down his face.

One Minute Earlier . . .

"A Storm Dragon Slayer?" The dragon questioned, "Those are rare. Who taught you that magic?"

What the-? You were taken back. Didn't this already happen?

"Tempest." You answered. If this already happened, then . . .

You jumped just as the dragon charged at you and swung its claw.

Its fast!

"(Y/N)!" Sting called you. It seems that he has snapped out of la-la land, but was shaken up about something. "A-Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." You grunted.

You and Sting began attacking the dragon together, but the both of you were starting to get tired.

Luckily, the dragon was soon engulfed in a bright yellow light before it disappeared.

"It's gone." Sting sighed in relief.

"Thank goodness!" You sighed as well before collapsing to the ground.

"(Y/N)!" Sting called your name in concern, but you didn't answer.

"What happened to (Y/N)?" Phoebe demanded information, glaring at the blond.

"I-I don't know!" He exclaimed.

"D-Don't get mad at Sting-kun!" Lector snapped at Phoebe.

Sting bent down and picked you up bridal style before walking down the street with the exceeds following behind him.

Did she really die? Sting questioned in his mind. Or was that a dream? He looked down at your unconscious body. She's an amazing wizard. Wise too. He felt his cheeks heat up and became flustered. Wha-What's happening to me?

"Sting!" Rogue called.

The blond looked up, seeing all the guilds gathered and talking amongst themselves. Rogue ran over to his friend with Frosch following him.

"Isn't that the incredibly loud girl from Fairy Tail?" The Shadow Dragon Slayer asked, noticing you in Sting's arms.

"Jeez, Rogue, where are your manners?" Sting grumbled, "She has a name."

Rogue was taken back by Sting's sudden scolding. "Um, okay?" He raised an eyebrow.

"HEY!" A voice boomed, making the two Sabertooth wizards flinch. Laxus stomped over to Sting. And he didn't look happy.

"What did you do to (Y/N)?" He growled, glaring at Sting.

"I didn't do anything!" Sting defended himself. "She passed out."

Laxus just growled in response. He snatched you from Sting's arms and walked away. Phoebe followed Laxus, wanting to be next to you when you woke up.

"You . ." Rogue spoke up, "you like her, don't you?"

Sting's cheeks immediately turned red, skipping the pink stage. "Wh-What are you talking about, Rogue!?"

"Don't play dumb." Rogue furowed his eyebrows. "That Fairy Tail girl. You like her, right?"

Sting scoffed, trying to hide his flusteredness and embarrassment. "N-No, I don't like her. I just think she's an amazing wizard. And she's strong. And wise. And hot."

Rogue nodded with a blank expression, as if he hadn't been listening to Sting talk. "Yeah, you like her." He said, turning around and walking away.

"H-Hey!" Sting shouted, chasing after Rogue.

"How about a bet?" Rogue suddenly asked.

"Huh?" Sting gasped, not expecting that.

"The King's hosting a Ball tomorrow for us wizards." Rogue stated. "I'm sure your crush will be there." Sting glared at him, but he ignored it. "If you can keep your eyes off of her, you win. But if I catch you staring, I win and you have to confess to her."

"WHAT!?" Sting's eyes popped out of his head.

"What's the matter?" Rogue smirked, "Shouldn't be hard if you don't like her, right?"

Sting growled, but didn't back down from the challenge. "Fine." He grumbled, "You're on!"
