Chapter 5
Grand Magic Games Day 3
Fairy Tail was earning more and more points. Erza dominated Pandemonium, earning first place. And you earned second place by using one of your Dragon Slayer Secret Arts, which is called Derecho, and destroying the MPF.
Now, it was time for the battles.
You weren't really paying attention. Laxus was sitting down because after Pandemonium and the MPF, he wasn't interested. You were sitting in his lap, your head resting on his right shoulder.
You two were perfectly comfortable cuddling in the background.
That is, until the announcer said,
"Our next match will be against Raven Tail's Alexei and Fairy Tail B's Laxus Dreyar!"
You felt Laxus tense up and then immediately relax. Looking up at him, you have him a concerned stare.
From being his girlfriend for many years, you knew about his father issues.
He felt your stare and looked down at you. He smiled softly before informing you, "I'll be fine."
He stood to his feet, carrying you in his arms bridal style. He walked to the hall that led to the field before placing you back on your feet.
"Be careful." You said, staring at the ground.
Laxus grabbed your chin with his thumb and index finger, and tilted your head up so you could look at him.
"And win." You added with a slight scowl. If he dared to even think about losing to his father's guild, you were gonna murder him yourself.
Laxus just chuckled before leaning down and placing a light kiss on your lips.
He released your chin, straightened his back, and stepped away from you before walking down the hall, toward the field.
"Don't worry, I'll definitely win. I promise." He said before entering the field.
You ran back up to your team's balcony in order to watch the match.
The gong was immediately sounded, everyone wanting to see this fight.
However, what surprised you, and the rest of Fairy Tail, was seeing Laxus get beat up.
"Pull yourself together, Laxus!" Natsu shouted from his balcony.
"What the heck is he doin'?" Gajeel growled.
"Is he conflicted?" Mira wondered.
"Something's not right." You mumbled.
You knew Laxus like the back of your hand. You knew that even if he was emotionally conflicted, he wouldn't show it visibly enough for it to be easily noticeable. And you knew that Laxus would never get easily beat up without throwing a single punch back, he's a fighter.
Something was wrong.
Then you heard very loud snickering. Turning your head in that direction, you saw Sting in his booth. He was smirking at you while pointing at the current match. "And you wanna date him?" He rolled his eyes while he continued to laugh.
You furrowed your eyebrows at Sting's remark. This isn't Laxus, you told yourself. This isn't his true power - his true strength! You turned your head, continuing to watch the match intently.
Your heart soon flooded with relief once you found out that everything the viewers were watching was an illusion.
And Laxus was the victor, defeating the entire Raven Tail team.
Raven Tail was disqualified, causing the two Fairy Tail teams to have to merge tomorrow.
You waited eagerly for him to return to the balcony. And while you were waiting the next, and final, match was announced,
"The final match for Day 3 will be between Fairy Tail A's Wendy Marvell and Lamia Scale's Chelia Blendy!"
"Wendy's gonna fight, huh?" A small grin appeared on your face.
"I'm sure she'll do fine." Mira smiled, "She is a Dragon Slayer after all."
"True." You nodded.
As Wendy's match began, you felt an arm wrap around your shoulders. Looking to your right, you saw Laxus.
You smiled in contentment and continued watching the Sky Dragon's fight.
"You know," You said, "I knew her element was air, but I never imagined that she'd actually eat it."
"It is kinda weird to watch." Gajeel grunted.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art!" Wendy shouted.
"Wendy knows a Secret Art?" Juvia asked, shocked.
You watched with a grin as Wendy casted her new spell: Shattering Light Sky Drill.
You thought it was pretty cool.
In the end, the match ended in a tie. Just like your match on the first day.
But at least Fairy Tail was earning points.
Grand Magic Games Day 4
Anger boiled within your body - through your bloodstream.
This only made you think of Sting and his utterly cocky behavior which, in your opinion, made him ugly.
The fourth day's competition was called Naval Battle. Participants entered the sphere of water and fought until one person remained.
The Sabertooth participant, Minerva, also had a cocky attitude. It made you cringe.
Is this a Sabertooth personality trait?
Minerva and Lucy ended up being the last two inside the sphere. But Minerva felt the need to "show Fairy Tail the power of Sabertooth" by beating Lucy until she looked like a lifeless corpse.
She even took the liberty of tossing Lucy out of the sphere as if the blonde was some doll that she had just got done playing with.
When Sting was trying to get you to be his girlfriend, did he really expect you to date him after he insulted your ex - who you were, in fact, still in love with?
Did he expect you to date him with that nasty and ugly cocky attitude?
And now one of his guildmates almost kills one of your guildmates. He defends her the entire time. Did he still expect you to date him?
As if. You growled in your head. What kind of girl does he think I am?
So, when it was time for the battles - the tag team battles - you shouted at Natsu and Gajeel, "GRIND THEIR COCKY FACES INTO THE DIRT!"
"With pleasure." Natsu said with a wicked smirk.
It was time for the final match of Day 4: Natsu and Gajeel vs. Sting and Rogue.
The Sabertooth wizards were already on the field, waiting while Natsu and Gajeel entered.
"Why is that girl so loud?" Rogue grumbled.
"Beats me." Sting shrugged, "Maybe something's wrong with her. I mean, her taste in men is atrocious."
"I could care less about her preference in men." Rogue snapped.
"Whatever." Sting grinned, "Maybe all she needs is to see me in action."
Rogue sighed, not feeling the need to reply. Once the four Dragon Slayers were on the field, the crowd went silent and you could practically feel the anticipation.
The gong sounded and the match began.
The entire time, you were leaning over the edge of the balcony. You weren't on the team, but you wanted to be next to Laxus. Although, you weren't paying any attention to him.
The battle shifted back-and-forth, from Fairy Tail's favor to Sabertooth's favor.
In your opinion, Sting and Rogue were trying way too hard to win a tournament match. First, it was their White and Shadow Drive, then they went into Dragon Force.
Was the power of a dragon really needed?
But in the end, much to yours and Fairy Tail's happiness, Natsu and Gajeel won. Though, Gajeel disappeared during the match.
There's always someone stronger than you, Sting. You said in your head, grinning from ear to ear.
"C'mon guys, let's celebrate!" Makarov shouted, the guild cheering in agreement.
Tomorrow would be the final day of the Grand Magic Games. A day where each member of each team participates in an all-out battle.
And you would be participating.
