Chapter 12

Sting hung his head, hiding his face from view. The sight of you kissing Laxus sent a bullet through his heart.

It shouldn't bother him; after all, you're not his girlfriend. You're Laxus' girlfriend. But these feelings of his were deep and strong, and he wishes to whatever ancient being who was listening that he could either stop or control them.

At first, it was merely lust, but now Sting genuinely cares about you.

And you had made it perfectly clear that you did not return his love. He knew you wouldn't, but the reality of it still hurt.

Sting felt tears that were seconds away from leaving his eyes. To avoid anyone witnessing him cry, he squeezed his eyes shut, gritted his teeth, and dashed out of Fairy Tail.

"Sting!" Natsu called out to the blond.

"Sting-kun!" Lector shouted in concern.

Sting couldn't hear them since he was long gone to who-knows-where.

Rogue growled, knowing that Sting was highly upset and heartbroken. He stood abruptly from his seat at the bar and walked silently over to where you were sitting.

"Seriously, (Y/N)!?" The Shadow Dragon Slayer growled.

You released a light moan before pulling away from Laxus who growled in annoyance, obviously not wanting to stop, cutting his eyes at Rogue and glaring at him.

"What?" You asked, slightly annoyed with the interruption.

"I get it if you don't return Sting's feelings, that's fine, but at least show some respect and curtiousness toward him!" Rogue growled again, raising his voice a little.

"What are you talking about?" You grunted.

"Sting just ran out of here after watching you make out with Laxus! Do you have any idea how he must feel? Couldn't you have done that at home or anywhere other than here?"

You remained quiet, not having a good enough comeback for that. You could have went to either yours or Laxus' place, but when your boyfriend walked through the guild doors, you were just so happy to see him.

You pratically leaped into his arms.

A small wave of guilt bubbled up in your gut. You bit your lip and looked down, staring into your lap.

From the corner of his eye, Laxus saw your ashamed look. He decided to speak on your behalf.

"She didn't do anything wrong." The muscly blond stated, still glaring at Rogue. "She's not dating him, she's dating me. Don't try to make it seem like she's the bad guy."

"She should still apologize." Rogue held his ground, matching Laxus' glare. "She hurt Sting's feelings."

"Tell Sting to get real and face the facts."

"Tell (Y/N) to be responsible for her actions."

"You-!"

"Stop it, Laxus." You commanded in a quiet and, almost shy, voice.

Laxus looked over his shoulder at you, surprised by your actions. "(Y/N), you don't have to-"

"It's ok." You interrupted him. "Let's just go."

Laxus stared at you for a second before his eyebrows furrowed together. He was silently asking you: are you sure?

"If you're not going to leave, I'll just go by myself." You said, somewhat irritated.

Laxus looked surprised at first, but that expression quickly faded. A small smile appeared on his face. "Well, okay." He said, letting out a small chuckle.

Rogue watched the two of you with a scowl. Once you and Laxus slid out of the booth and stood up, he abruptly walked away while grumbling to himself.

You led the way, Laxus following behind you as the two of you left Fairy Tail.

You had a guilt feeling that just sat at the bottom of your stomach. It was very uncomfortable. The least you could do is apologize to Sting - even if you weren't dating him.

He still had feelings just like anyone else. And seeing the girl he had a crush on kissing another guy must hurt a lot.

"(Y/N) . . ." Laxus called suspiciously.

You two had been walking for a while and the route you were taking wasn't one to your house or his.

". . Where are we going?" He finally asked after not having you respond.

You came to a stop, but not turning around to face him. Laxus stopped behind you, a feint idea of where you were going ran through his mind.

"Don't be mad." You said.

Please don't tell me she's-Laxus thought, but before he could complete his thought, you spoke up again.

"I'm going to see Sting." You informed him. "I've been tracking his scent."

Laxus' jaw clenched. He had a feeling that you were going to see Sting.

Were you really that guilty? Or was it something else?

You shouldn't have to go see Sting. You shouldn't have to apologize. It's not your fault! So, why are you tracking his scent?

"Why?" Laxus finally snapped out of his mental rant and asked you with a hint of frustration.

"Laxus,-"

"You've got nothing to apologize for (Y/N)! Don't feel guilty!"

"That's easier said than done."

"But you didn't do anything wrong! You're my girlfriend and you shouldn't feel bad about kissing me!"

"I don't feel bad about kissing you."

"Good becau-"

"I feel bad that he saw me kissing you."

Laxus closed his mouth, his jaw clenching tightly. He stared at you intensly, not uttering a word. He doesn't know why, but he's jealous. Extremely jealous.

"He's a human, Laxus, just like us." You said since your boyfriend wasn't talking. "He has feelings. Even though I'm not dating him, he still likes me."

Laxus growled like an animal after that statement.

"It was wrong for me to be careless and make out with you at the guild." You balled your hand into a tight fist. "I've hurt his feelings."

Laxus just kept getting angrier and angrier, the more you spoke about Sting. All he wants to do is go home and lay down on the couch with you in his arms.

Is that too much to ask for?

Before he knew it, you had already continued walking. Was she not going to say anything? Laxus growled in his head, following you.

It wasn't long before a figure came into view on the empty street. A person was down on all fours in the middle of the street; their head lowered to the concrete.

You sniffed the air, confirming your suspicions. It was Sting.

As Sting sniffled, he caught a whiff of yours and Laxus' scent.

"Go away." Sting said, his voice horse. You could tell that he had been crying for a while now. And the exhaustion was evident in his voice.

"Sting,-"

"NO, (Y/N)! . . . Please, just go . ."

You were about to take a step toward him, but his sudden raise of voice made you stop. He was really distraught. And it was your fault.

This only made your guilt intensify.

"I'm . . ." You spoke softly, not wanting to make him more upset. ". . I'm sorry."

"C'mon, (Y/N)." Laxus mumbled, grabbing your hand gently and pulling you away from the other blond.

Soon, you and Laxus were gone and Sting was left by himself.

He wiped the tears from his face for, what seemed like, the millionth time. Straightening his back, he blinked any other tears from his eyes, unblurrying his vision.

Then something began to form out of thin air in front of Sting.

"What the-" He mumbled, but stopped when he saw a golden lamp on the ground before him.

The lamp didn't look like any ordinary lamp; it looked similar to a small tea pot. Where did this come from? Sting wondered.

He stared at the lamp in confusion. Holding it in both hands, he rubbed his thumbs in circles subconsciously. Suddenly smoke came off of the lamp, scaring the blond.

He gasped, dropping the golden lamp, and backed away from it. A cloud of smoke rose into the air, but it quickly disappeared.

A woman was revealed.

"Ah, I'm finally free!" She sighed, stretching.

Sting looked at the woman with his jaw dropped. "W-Who are you?" He stuttered.

The woman looked down at the blond and smiled. "I am Ishtar." She introduced herself, "And you are my new Master."
