Chapter 2- Wrong Time

Cody

I felt so lost at first. I didn't feel anything, and I was just plain gone. I couldn't feel the ground beneath me or the air around me. I felt... Nothing.

For what seemed like forever, I felt absolutely nothing.

Until I did feel something. I was...

Cold. So very cold.

Then I started to regain my senses again. I could feel the chilling air around me that sent shivers down my spine and the ground beneath me was rocky. I twitched my hands as soon as I could, slowly getting control over everything. My limbs felt stiff, as if they hadn't been used in years. Using what willpower I could muster, I moved my hands by my head, grasping the rough floor, and pushed myself to my feet.

My muscles strained, not wanting to put this great burden upon themselves, but finally, I was on my knees. I lifted my hand to my face and rubbed the sleep out of me. Flickering open my eyes, I could finally see where I was.

I appeared to be in... Sector Four? How could that be possible? Wasn't I last in... The palace! With KrakenKid! Memories flooded back to my mind. My eyes darted around the area. "The question is," I mumbled to myself and used some nearby coral for support to stand up. "How did I get here? The last thing that happened was- THE NEXUS!" I whisper shouted the word.

I spun around, looking for anything that could lead me to how I got here. However, while doing this I noticed somethings. "Sector four has a lot more crystals than I remembered..." Though the normal blue, tall and slanted crystals stood proudly near the caves, there were also large spots of other kinds of crystals, coming in all different kinds of colors. "How long have I been out?" I shook my head, getting the dizzy feeling out for a moment before it returned again.

I kept searching, finding more things wrong.

"Some of the coral is either not there or much smaller." I approached the areas. The once enormous sized aqua coral was smaller, but not like it was cut down. It looked like it was born today. "Okay... Something is definitely going on here." I huffed.

A low growling sounded, but not of a creature. It was my stomach. I chuckled. "I guess it's been awhile since my last meal. There has to be some fish around here somewhere. Come here fishy-fishy." I sang, spinning around. "Come to Cody!"

I started to swim around, some times getting really close to a fish, and others, not even close. Either way, I was still left unsatisfied. Leaning against the blue crystals, I rested. Fishing was hard without bait. "What is going on here? Why is everything I had just gone?" I searched once again but there was nothing there. Then it dawned on me. "Oh no... My spear!" Crying out, I face palmed. "How could I forget about my spear? Oh man, I can't lose it again! Last time I only got it back by chance!" I sighed loudly and rested my head against the surface to my back and closed my eyes, breathing deeply.

"Okay Cody.. The Nexus did, well, something and now you have woken up quite a ways from the palace. Maybe it had a reason? Maybe I accidentally got teleported here by it and all my stuff dropped? Can the Nexus even do that?"

I stopped and just rested. Minutes passed and the growling of my stomach only became louder. I tried to ignore it but it was hard to.

With closed eyes, my hearing increased, and the sound of a slight shuffling and movement became more vivid. I froze in place, playing dead seemed like the most logical option. It came closer, but before it reached me, it sounded like something was being set down, then the shuffling turned to a louder swimming and whatever it was, seemed to be gone. I finally opened my eyes, shifting them to the left, where I heard it. There, sitting not too far away, was bread. Eye widening, I scampered to it and gulped it all down in mere seconds.

"Oh! Oh that hit the spot!" I grinned for the first time in a while. A thought occurred to me and I gazed around the land. Where did this bread even come from? Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary... Wait. Was that little blob on the coral always there? Almost the second I spotted it, the blob ducked down, hiding behind the coral reef that was big enough.

Curiosity overcame me and I strolled towards it.

It wasn't too far away, so I made it there quickly. Only a few feet away, the being poked their head up for just a second before seeing me and hiding once again. They might have been swift, but I still noted the flash of purple. "Hey, don't worry! I'm going to hurt you!" I tried reassuring the creature. I paused at the underwater plant and peeked over.

My heart almost stopped.

The being was quite small and had a full body of purple and a torpedo shaped head. Their eyes were a light yellow with small black pupils. With eight tentacles, two were like arms while the others were being like legs, but unlike I remembered, were not making them float off the ground. They might have been different, but I could tell one thing. It was him all the same.

"KRAKEN?"

However, I did not expect how they reacted. The kraken squealed and did their best to hide even deeper in the coral. Eyes widened to the max now, I felt like they were going to fall out. What's wrong with him? "Uh... Kraken?" I tried again, a little more friendly this time. Nothing happened at first until the smaller version of KrakenKid showed their face again.

They're eyes were big and stared at me with a sense of childish wonder. This might not have been the KrakenKid I knew, even if it was uncanny how much they looked alike. I hesitated. I wasn't used to my biggest enemy acting or even looking like this. "... Hi?" I tried to give my best smile to them. The fear in their eyes shrunk but still remained. Thoughts of what to do flew through my head, then an idea stuck me.

"Oh, uh, thanks for the bread." I held up the remaining loaf I had. Their pale yellow eyes darted from me, to the loaf and back. They still didn't respond. I cleared my throat, my eyes darted around. "I was really hungry and you saved me there... Do-. Do you have a name?" Nothing happened. "Or speak at all?"

They blinked. "KrakenKid." They squeaked. I barely stopped myself from reacting badly and just smiled a bit. It is KrakenKid. "Do you know who I am?" I pressed on. His head shook hastily. Okay this is very wrong but I'll go with it. "Well," I held out my hand to him. The kraken flinched and stumbled back at first. "I'm Cody. Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." The purple being just stared at my hand before eventually inching his tentacle out and shook it.

My smile became wider. I was finally getting somewhere.

"Okay KrakenKid. Can you tell me what is happening because I just woke up here and I'm very confused." He blinked again. "Did-.. Did you get kicked out or banished?" His voice was much lighter than I remember but then again, he was a child. I thought back and shook my head. "Hmm... You wouldn't happen to know the king of Atlantis would you?"

Maybe KrakenKid got turned into a child and we teleported here? Maybe his memory got messed up?

"Well duh! Who doesn't?"

"Well, just humor me anyways. Who is the king of Atlantis?"

When he told me, my heart stopped dead. Just from a single word, I was proved wrong and baffled at what happened. No way the Nexus could do this... Could it?

Still, from just one word uttered from his mouth, I knew the situation I was in.

"Poseidon."
