Chapter 14- Exit Door Found
Cody
Drifting to sleep once again, the same dream happened. Darkroom, Nexus in front. At this point, I figured out that to end the dream, I just needed to look into the energy and watch it all unfold in front of me. For some odd reason, most of the time KrakenKid was staring back at me, or some other vision with him. Not the young one I was with now but the one I knew. The one from my time.
Approaching the Nexus, I gazed into it, but saw something familiar.
Something that already happened.
It was me and KrakenKid fighting, both of our weapons clashed together and hatred burning in each of our eyes. I watched them scream at the other before noticing the Nexus was only getting brighter. For a second, it flickered, almost like it was reacting to our fighting.
Almost as if it were watching. Like it was... Alive?
I guess I was too busy fighting to notice it.
"YOU ARE SO- ARG!"
It was so weird hearing my own voice. When those words left my mouth, it sparked and the glowing intensified. Finally the pair looked over and noticed what was happening.
"Is... this you?"
"I thought this was your doing!"
My past self and KrakenKid's past self gave up fighting. I watched as the Nexus absorbed them both, but not before noticing something I didn't before.
It wasn't the only thing glowing. My spear, KrakenKid's eyes and my eyes all were too. Unlike my normal brown and his yellow orbs, both changed to blue. They matched the same color the Nexus was.
Once the light faded, the throne room was left alone once again.
"Why? Why are you showing me this?" I whispered to it.
Almost on command, the room was filled with another light and two forms appeared again. The form of a penguin, and one of a kraken. Before the light disappeared, I felt it all fade around me.

Sitting up in the bed, I finally got it. The Nexus was my way home. Our way home. I just had to find KrakenKid. Somehow.
Not too far away from me, the younger KrakenKid nearly jumped out of his skin when waking up. He breathed hard, but slowly stopped himself and whipped around towards me. "I'm still alive? I thought when you die in dreams you die in real life." I knitting my eyebrows together. "Did you die in your dream?"
"Yeah! I had like a sword shoved through my chest or stomach-- something like that! Oooo! Did I have a death dream? That's pretty cool. Dying in battle, not a bad way to go! I mean, I'd rather live forever but I doubt that's possible."
I blinked. "You had a death dream and you're chill with it?"
The child shrugged. "I kinda doubt I'll get stabbed anytime soon so, I'm okay. I mean I hope I don't get stabbed anytime soon."
I stared at him for a moment before getting up. "Okay, moving on. I have something to... Discuss with you." His head tilted. "Okay then, what is it?" I gulped, realizing what needed to be done and signaled him to the bed. Sitting down next to me, I started to explain it.
"I really hate to leave but... I need to go home."
The kraken examined me, looking up and down. "Home? Where even is home for you? Why have you been staying with me?"
I took in a long breath. I'm going to sound crazy but here it goes. "The future."
Just as I thought, younger KrakenKid eyes widened and gave me the most confused look ever. "The what? Future?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I'm from the future. You see, originally I was in a fight and then something went weird with the- You know about the Nexus right?"
"Yeah, it vaporized my Mom!"
"Oh... That's quite sad actually but something went weird with it and it transported me back in time in Sector Four. It took me to you."
"Me? Why me?"
"It might be because I know you in the future." His eyes lit up like the excited child he was. "Really? What am I like? Who are you in the future?"
I hesitated. "Well... I'm not sure if I'm allowed to spoil too much for you but you might forget it... After all, if this happened in the past and you don't mention it in my time then maybe you'll forget it? Who knows... But, I will say this. In the future, your name is known across the land, the feared KrakenKid, leader of the Tide Changers. I'm going to be honest here, you and me, we're rivals."
"Rivals? Why would I be rivals with you?" He questioned.
"Because... I'm the King." His yellow eyes watched me carefully. "The King? Doesn't that mean you have royal blood? Does that mean that-"
"Yeah, I'm Poseidon's son."
"What?" He exclaimed, his voice full of disbelief.
I sighed, avoiding his gaze. "Yep. But to be honest, I don't remember him at all. In the future when I come back, I can't remember my past or childhood. The only things I knew about my father was what I was told. Nobody ever cared to tell me that he tried committing genocide on an entire species and almost succeeded. Nobody ever told me that because of my own father's actions was the very thing that fueled my enemies hatred. I just wanted to make Atlantis a better place. I wanted to make it peaceful! Actually, the person I was fighting was older you. The Nexus swallowed both of us and I have no idea where he is..."
Looking back up at the child, his face was full of wonder and confusion. "So... Let me get this straight... You are not only from the future, but also Poseidon's son and my future rival?" I nodded. "That's... Holy smokes... You know, I always imagined if Poseidon had a son that he'd be some sort of hellspawn but you're nothing like I expected!"
Shocked, I managed to get out the words: "So you don't hate me?"
KrakenKid chuckled. "Well no! Of course not! After all this time, it's kinda hard to. I mean, it goes against what I want to do but Cody, I like you! You're kind and you give me hope for Atlantis. Though future me might not know it, you're a pretty cool guy. Maybe if he gets past the hatred, he'll see it too!" I laughed a little. "I sure hope so..."
The two of us strolled to the entrance of the tunnels and lingered there.
"So you really have to go?" I nodded solemnly.
"Yeah." I said softly. "I have a home to go to. I run Atlantis in my time so it's kinda a big job. I just have to get to the Nexus and figure out what I have to do from there. Hopefully your older self shows up so I can take him home too. We might be rivals, but I can't leave him here."
As I finished, the kraken wrapped his arms around me and squeezed tightly, as if he never wanted to let go. "I'll miss you..." I smiled and hugged back. "The base is going to be so empty without you there..."
"I know but you have so much to do! The Tide Changers aren't going to start themselves... I'm going to talk to you-- the KrakenKid from my time and work it out. Maybe we can both make a better Atlantis?"
Tears brimmed from his eyes. "Y-yeah! I'd like that and I'm sure he would too. Also, I have something for you!" He pulled out a stuffed squid and handed it over. "It's one of my favorite toys. I want you to keep it and... Remember me okay? Remember all of this every time you see it."
A tear escaped my eyes but I sniffed and put it away, keeping it safe and grinned wider than before. "Please, I could never forget you. Goodbye KrakenKid. You'll see me again some day."
More and more tears spilled from his sockets. "Bye Cody! You bet I'm going to see you again. The next time we meet, I'll have an empire! I'll be strong and build up the Conch Command! I'll make you proud!"
Waving even as I backed up, we parted ways. Eventually, I couldn't see him any more. I sighed and turned towards Atlantis, the great city.
"I'm coming home..." I whispered.
****************************************
Well, here it is! Cody figured it out and is going home soon which you can guess means that it will be ending soon.
I'm actually pretty sad. This series was fun... However, it must be done. Not everything can go on forever...
Anyways, I hope you liked this chapter! Be sure to comment and tell me how I did! Goodbyeeeeee!
