Chapter 3: Rainy Walks Part 1

// I regret writing this in first person prospective so bad ;; yes I realize this is horribly cringey

ICHIMATSU'S POV

It had been many years since that day.

My brothers and I, Now twenty something years old, grew up to be useless NEETS. Of course, it wasn't all bad. We got to do what we wanted...

Still, Something seemed to always be missing...

~~~
It was a Saturday. Not that I'd care to remember of course, but Choromatsu always feels like he has to announce the date every morning.
'Tch, talk about annoying...' I thought hugging my knees in my little corner of the room.
Today, much like everyday, we'd spend slacking off or lazing around. However, this wasn't the case for all us NEETS.
I turned my attention over to Jyushimatsu to see what surprises he'd bring today. Being the most energetic of us all he always had something amusing going on.
I felt a blush  burn up in my cheeks. Jyushimatsu was sound asleep curled up with ESPkitty. Instead of squirming away like the cat would to the others, he simply snuggled into Jyushimatsu purring contently.
It was pleasing to see Jyushimatsu getting along with him...I don't know why, but it managed to put a smile on my face. I guess Jyushimatsu's always done that though. Now that I think about it, Jyushimatsu's always been there...
Putting a stop to my train of thought was Jyushimatsu's eyes suddenly fluttering with movement. Popping open as his sleepy smile grew into a bright one. He gently put down the cat before springing to his feet.
"Morning, Morning!" He cheered raising his arms. Each of the brothers took their turn sleepily greeting the second youngest followed by a small groan. Now they knew they couldn't get more sleep.
I sighed. Since I was the only one not to say good morning, I knew that Jyushimatsu would be all over me today.
Of course, I was right. He turned to me, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Morning Nii-San!" He tried again taking a step towards me.
I let out a small hum of a response hoping it was enough.
"Ichimatsu Nii-San?" He asked softly cocking his head to the side.
'Damnit...' I began to think biting my lip. 'He's just too cute.' I thought before letting out a lazy huff. I managed to mumble a small,
"Morning Jyushimatsu..."
At this, I soon found myself jumped into a hug. I sighed with a content smile I hugged him back. Loving the feeling I got whenever he nuzzled into me.
Then, interrupting this moment of peace was Osomatsu.
"Why doesn't Onii-Chan get any love?" He whined making a fake hurt face. Pathetic...
"Heh, Maybe cause you steal my things?" I shot back, a small satisfied smirk crawling onto my face as he faked being offended.
I was about to go on but Choromatsu came in interrupting what would have been more insulting.
"We can't just laze around today...!" He said with a small angry puff of air.
Todomatsu had most likely been teasing him about being lazy again...What a pain.
"Tch, what does you wanting to be active have to do with us?" I scoffed rolling my eyes.
"B-Because! Seriously, we NEETS are the lowest members of society in the whole town! Maybe even the whole world! The least you guys can do is go outside for once." He said crossing his arms stubbornly. Thinking it made him look more responsible most definitely.
"Yeah right, you probably just want the house to yourself so that you can fap!" Osomatsu countered pointing his index finger towards the now cherry shade of red green hooded brother.
"N-Not true!" He lied gently clinging onto the eldest to shake him roughly.
"What the hell fappymatsu its gonna rain todayyy, do you hate Onii-Chan that much?!" Osomatsu whined wrapping Choromatsu into an overbearing hug.
"Seriously, who the hell is Fappymatsu Bakamatsu Nii-San?!" Choromatsu shot back.
The two would be at it for a while..
Through all the chaotic yelling Jyushimatsu tugged on my sleeve managing to get my attention. "Hm...What is it Jyushimatsu?" I asked gently rubbing his head causing his smile to grow.
"I think I wanna go for a walk with Ichimatsu Nii-San today!" He declared.
I groaned, "you too?" I asked with a small sigh. I knew I couldn't say no to that eager expression of his.
I nodded slowly.
"Should I get the collar?!~" Jyushimatsu asked and I shook my head. He was expecting a dog walk.
"It shouldn't be necessary today..." I said.
---
I managed to get myself suckered into a walk through town. It was a little chilly today so I had my hands dug into my pockets.
"So why did you want to come out here today?" I asked Jyushimatsu who froze up. He was...Blushing? "Come on," I tried again. "You had to of had a reason." I said turning around to take a step closer to the boy who was once directly behind me but now stood still. Jyushimatsu then opened up his mouth as if he had something to say. However, he quickly shut it and shook his head. I sighed knowing that he was too stubborn to give up.
After a few moments of silence Jyushimatsu's eyes traveled up to the sky. To see what was
So interesting I found myself looking up as well. Grey clouds were beginning to form overhead. Getting darker and darker.
"Should we head back?" I asked turning my attention back to my little brother who frantically shook his head.
"I wanted to hang out with Nii-San today!" He said suddenly latching onto my arm. Recovering from his embarrassment with a bright smile.
I looked away feeling a blush spreading across my face. I immediately averted my eyes. Hating to show my embarrassment. "Th-...Then lets go buy some umbrellas ok? I don't want you to catch a cold." I mumbled struggling to keep composure with how close Jyushimatsu was to me. I didn't understand, why was he so persistent to hang out with trash...?
He nodded quickly. His happiness seeming to increase if that was even possible.
"You know Nii-San, I'm really happy that you came with me today!" Jyushimatsu said with a gentle squeeze of my arm.
I quickly darted my head the opposite way. I'd hate to let him see my blush. "hm, why?" I asked once again struggling to remain calm,
"Cause silly I-" He began.
CLAP
Sadly,this carefree atmosphere didn't last long. Interrupting Jyushimatsu was a loud clap of thunder. Causing him to suddenly finch as if there were danger near by.
Was Jyushimatsu, the loudest person I knew, afraid of the sudden loud noise?
I sighed pulling the now trembling  Jyushimatsu into a hug. "You don't need to be afraid," I said before letting out a small chuckle. "You're way louder then the thunder anyway, right?" I asked.
Jyushimatsu nodded. His obvious blush catching me off guard.
"A-Anyway, we should hurry. Or else we'll get caught in the rain." I said pulling away and sticking my hands into my pockets. How the hell was he so cute?
I left Jyushimatsu looking down at his feet. He looked a little disappointed but smiled anyway following me closely.
"Right, Right!~" he agreed recovering in a miraculously quick time.
~~ About an Hour Later~~
After a while of walking in silence we finally came across the local convenience store.
We walked in to see an array of items ranging from snacks to porno mags.
"What colour of umbrella do you want?" I asked already knowing the obvious choice as I dug through the container filled with umbrellas.
"Hmmm..." Jyushimatsu paused tapping his chin. "Yellow!" He declared before running off, likely to go and grab a treat.
I managed to make it up to the till. After amusing myself by intimidating the sales clerk I began to pay. Without my noticing that Jyushimatsu had snuck a box of pocky into my hands which I swiped and payed for.
As the man handed me back the items. I then saw what Jyushimatsu had sneaked. I turned to him sighing and smiling. "You could've asked you know.." I said handing him the treat.
"I know but then it wouldn't be a surprise!" He said jumping me into a hug.
I froze up for a moment but gradually hugged him back. "Weirdo, that doesn't make any sense..." I mumbled.
pulling apart from the hug I noticed Jyushimatsu grabbing at his bright yellow umbrella.
"What are you-" interrupting me was Jyushimatsu popping open his umbrella right into the clerks face. Knocking the poor boy completely over.
"J-Jyushimatsu don't open that in doors!" I hissed  pulling him out of the now angry owners shop.
Jyushimatsu looked confused. "Eh? Why not? What's wrong?" He asked looking down at the umbrella as we went out the door.!
I sighed and opened my own holding it over my head. "It's badluck." I said simply beginning to walk off.
Jyushimatsu's footsteps could be heard right behind mine. "Do you believe in bad luck Nii-San?" He asked as he caught up to me. Wearing an eager smile at my side.
I gave a dismissive shrug not much caring about the subject.
Jyushimatsu huffed once again grabbing my hand. "Lets go to the park today Nii-San!" He cheered tugging me towards the gateway of the area. Why was he so interested in hanging out?
"Are you sure...? It's gonna rain soon." I asked with the tilt of my head. He didn't need to answer. Yes was written all over his smile.
Though I'd rather be at home with a cat, the park didn't sound so bad. Not wanting to disappoint Jyushimatsu I walked through the gates.
Jyushimatsu immediately began to run around. Childishly cheering for me to watch as he played around in the grass.
I don't even think he was exactly sure what he was doing. Maybe getting some of his energy out?
We stayed like that for a long while. I sat watching from a nearby bench as Jyushimatsu showed off how fast he could run, how good his throws were or how good he was at climbing.
Frankly, it was adorable.
However, the rain begun to pick up. Beginning to worry about being out too long, I took matters into my own hands.
I walked up to Jyushimatsu. Gently placing my hand on his shoulder. "It's time to head back..."  I mumbled cautiously. Not wanting to disappoint him, I had to be careful about how to approach it.
Jyushimatsu nodded quickly. "Yeah ok Nii-San!" He agreed. However, I could tell by his eyes that he was saddened.
Giving in like a pathetic softie I gently rubbed Jyushimatsu's head. "We can go for on small walk on the bridge ok? Then its home." I bargained causing the now eager Jyushimatsu's cowlick to swing.
Chuckling, I began to walk ahead.
Content flooding my body as I heard the squeak of the old wood of the bridge. It was always so very calming here...Beautiful too.
"Ne Nii-San?" Jyushimatsu's voice snapped me out of my trance. He was tapping his sleeves together as if expecting something. His smile gently quivering and twitching...His cheeks burned with a crimson red blush.
I immediately looked down towards the water. He was too fucking adorable. However, I knew it wasn't ok to think such things.
"Yeah...?" I asked. Disinterest unintentionally dripped within my tone.
Jyushimatsu seemed discouraged. He shuffled around for a moment as if anticipating my reaction. However, this hesitation from him was odd. Was he contemplating wether or not he should say what he was going to..?
Silence
Waiting...
"Ahaha, never mind! It was silly anyway!~" he cheered suddenly raising his sleeves.
My small smile dropped. I hated whenever Jyushimatsu lied to me. I firmly grabbed his shoulders. Causing him to quiver within my grip. "Tell me." I demanded in a firm voice. "Please..." I added. Doing my best to take on a gentle voice in hopes to show him that I wasn't upset.
Jyushimatsu gently cupped my cheeks.
Without a word, he pressed his soft plump lips against my cheek.
My eyes widened, my jaw slacking against my will.
Why? What was this? Was it normal for my chest to beat so fast?!
Jyushimatsu was quivering gently. His beat red expression hidden by his sulfur yellow sleeves.
"Jyushimatsu..." my voice breaking the ever growing silence between us.
"Y-Yeah Nii-San...?" He mumbled. His inky black eyes slowly meeting mine through the now tiny hole in between his sleeves.
It was adorable. No, he was adorable. A low chuckle escaped my body as I pulled the sweet fifth born into a hug.
Immediately the nervous tension melted away. Jyushimatsu's shoulders shook as he giggled. "Nii-San you're squishing mee...!" He whined jokingly.
"Hehe...ehh, am I?" I joked along gently squeezing his body against mine.
It was perfect. However, I couldn't help but wonder what Jyushimatsu's intentions were. After all, he was just Jyushimatsu. There's no way he meant anything by that right...?
///
It was a good walk.
As good as one can be I suppose.
I watched as Jyushimatsu pointed out all the small animals and birds along the side of the water. All wearing the happiest of smiles.
I loved knowing how happy I could make him...It truly made me feel like the luckiest teas in the world.
After our walk, Jyushimatsu and I set out for home.
Not caring what other people thought, we decided to hold hands. While Jyushimatsu swung our now attached arms I looked around to make sure no one would begin making fun of us. After all, it made Jyushimatsu upset. I couldn't have that...
Suddenly, Jyushimatsu froze. His once dilated pupils now shrunk to a tiny orb in the whites of his eyes.
I could tell right away that Jyushimatsu was scared. So scared in fact, that I found myself eager to help. It was so strange...Never had he behaved in such a way since at least high school. What could be so wrong?
"Oi Jyushima-"
"Go.Now.Please." Though his voice was quiet he was obviously very urgent.
"What? Is there something wrong...?" I tried in a low tone. He clearly didn't want the attention drawn towards us.
I put my hand on his shoulder, only to feel his whole body flinch. His eyes squeezed shut, his legs caving in...He was about to cry.
He let out a gentle whimper, reaching his hands ( at the time covered by his large sleeves) up to me as he fell to his knees.
Immediately I got the hint. I scooped him up into my arms walking quickly. His chest against mine.
Allowing me to feel the ever so gentle shaking he was trying to holding back on.
"Hurry...Th-They're...They're here!" He whispered frantically. His small but tight grip against my purple hoodie urging me to go forward.
Biting my lip, I ran as quickly as I could. I hated this. I hated to know he was scared...
Holding the back of Jyushimatsu's head I assured him that everything would be ok. I just wish he realized I was here...
Bump
Next thing I knew I was head first into the chest of a stranger. Immediately I jolted back, not bothering to apologize as I tried to run through the crowd.
My eyes scanned around me.
Four boys surrounded us.
There was really no escape. "Oi, Get away from us!" I hissed. Jyushimatsu's gently sobbing being heard against my chest encouraging me to edge forward.
"Hang on, I totally recognize that emo tone...!" An oddly kind tone chirped.
What the hell...?
"Dude, no way! That's totally the Ichimatsu isn't it?" Another added.
"Who the fuck are you?" I spat letting Jyushimatsu down by my side. He dug into the side of my body. Why didn't he want to talk to these people?
"Wahhh, no way! It totally is him! No one else could have a glare like that!" The smallest of the group chimed in. An oddly cheerful tone coming from him.
Finally, the one in the middle spoke up. His voice carefree. "Fufu, it's been a while matsuno's~" he cooed.
Then it clicked.
"Man, we're seriously sorry about before. We definitely went through a scary face didn't we?" The smallest asked causing the rest of the crew to nod.
Something seemed off. Their once threatening atmosphere seemed to have entirely melted away. If anything, they reminded me of a gang of Osomatsu's. just harmless idiots.
I couldn't help but relax. "You should be apologizing to him..." I mumbled pointing at the Jyushimatsu who was eagerly trying to pull me away.
The boys gave each other a glance. Guilt spread across their faces. "O-Oi Smiley, we're really sorry about before..."
The leader cautiously lowered his hand towards Jyushimatsu's head in hopes of comforting the childish boy through head patting.
Jyushimatsu had none of it.
Swiftly, he pulled away. Without a word he raised his leg, roughly kicking down the leader. His eyes were wide...Intense too.
"Don't touch me." He said simply before turning back to me. "Let's go?" He asked sweetly.
I was stunned. "Jyushimatsu what the hell...?!" I asked. What got into him?! They were trying to make it up to him.
"I deserved that..." the leader groaned. Getting up while rubbing his newly bruised side. "You should know that I handed myself in. We did time. At least, however much a high schooler could get." He said.
I gently tugged Jyushimatsu towards the crowd. "See?" I tried. Playing with the idea that maybe, just maybe this could be a chance for us to make friends.
Jyushimatsu didn't budge. "Stay the fuck away from Nii-San." He spat. No, growled.
Without a moments pause he dug his nails into the arm of the leader. Easily flipping him onto his ass. "Or I'll kill you." He said simply.
The worst part is...
He was still smiling.
