39 - November 10

Oh god. Idk why but my fingers cramps whenever i draw. I think it's because of medibang's pencil. It's quite hard to use.

Five years later, November 10

November 10, the day that Aki loves. Well, of course, she loves it. It's her birthday. But other than that, it's a day where she can spend the whole day with her father!

Kazutora is always busy. I mean always. Since he is now a hotel manager, his work increased, thus leading to her not being able to spend that much time with him. Right, her dad works for his aunt's hotel.

Well, her aunt told her that it used to belong to her mother, then it was passed down to her. Aki wants to inherit it too once she grows up, so she's planning on studying tourism after high school.

I mean, why do the typical, boring, old office work when you can run your own multi million hotels? Plus, her aunt already promised to train her herself. [miss gurl knows it]

Every year, Kazutora always plans the whole day out for the two of them. Although, this time she planned her own birthday! They'll be going to Hakone!

And this trip is actually somewhat sponsored by her aunt since they'll be staying on a ryokan that they opened a few years ago. But she was still the one who planned this trip with Nise-san.

"GOOOOD MORNING, DAD!!!"

Kazutora woke up startled, looking up to the person who decided to give him a heart attack so early in the morning. Lo and behold, it's none other than his lovely daughter, waking him up at... six a.m in the morning.

"....Aki...?" He mumbled, yawning slightly as he sat up, squinting at the teenager who was standing proudly. "It's so early..."

"Hehe, dad, get ready! We're going to Hakone today!"

"What?"

"We're going to Hakone to spend my birthday!" Aki repeated with a grin that resembled her father's. Kazutora blinked for a few moments, trying to comprehend what she just said. "Aunty paid for our stay for the whole weekend as my birthday gift!"

"When- How- How did you even get the tickets-"

"Here! I got it by working for my friend's shop!" Aki pulled out the two train tickets, showing it to her dad with a proud smile. "Come on! I'll cook you breakfast! Go get ready already!"

"But, isn't it your birthday?" Kazutora sighed, standing up and going over his closet to pick an outfit. "I should be the one treating you today."

"It's fine! Me treating you is my birthday gift for today! So don't take too long! Our check in is at eight!"

Kazutora can only sigh as the girl ran off from his room, giggling by herself while shouting pancakes again and again. Today was the day that Aki turned fifteen... Fifteen huh... At that age, Kazutora returned to jail. ["returned"]

Well, at least Aki isn't running around and forming gangs as they did back in the day.

How time flies.

"Well, well, he sure is taking his sweet time." Kei sighed in disappointment, checking her watch for the sixth time today. "Aaagggghhh! How long will Hanma-san take!!"

Mikey sighed as well, leaning on the car as he and Kei waited for Hanma to arrive. Today was the day they have been waiting for, the day Mikey has been waiting for since five years ago.

Those five years... It felt like hell. It felt the same as before when he had isolated himself from the world. Except this time, it was less tortuous and that was because there was something for him to look forward to, and that was the birthday of his daughter that he is yet to meet.

Since it'll be his daughter's birthday, naturally, he bought her a present. Hopefully, she will like it. It's something he thought of since last year. It's something that... Her mother used to have.

"Ah- Speak of the devil!" Mikey's thought was caught off when Kei smacked him on his back, making him turn to the man who was walking towards them wearing a business suit as usual. "Hanma-san, if we work again in the future and you're late, then please note that I'll leave you behind."

".....Still with the mask I see." Hanma sighed, a bit disappointed to see the woman still wearing that mask. Looks like she'll be wanting to keep her identity till the end. Or her face at least. He did a bit of research. 'Nise Aki... One of (Y/N)'s workers in the past... but...' [K1. What did we say about ominous 'but's? 😊🔪]

"No time for chit-chat! Get in the car! We're going to be late!" Kei exclaimed, pushing the two men effortlessly to her car. She got into the driver's seat and began the car. "Put your seatbelt on please, I don't want to pay a fine. Thanks."

The two did as they were told and put on their seatbelts. Hanma quietly glanced over to Mikey who was sitting next to him, eying the box tied with a ribbon. It seems that Mikey had the same idea as him. He got a gift for his ex's child too. How sweet.

"Right... where are we going?" Mikey asked.

"Hakone."

"Hakone? Is that where her child is?" This time, it was Hanma who asked.

"No. She's there to celebrate her birthday." Kei answered and silence immediately came afterward as they realized what that could mean. "(Y/N) left her daughter to someone she trusted before she died. She's living with that person. You two are quite well acquainted with him."

Him. It's a guy. Who? Absolutely no one came to their mind when it came to someone that (Y/N) would trust to leave a child with. I mean, all of the people that (Y/N) knew were all criminals. Who would trust their child with a criminal? [Y/N, apperantly]

"You'll see who it is when we arrive there."

"-Ah. But wait-" Mikey gasped, a sudden question popping in his head. "How did you even know she'll be celebrating there?"

"Hmm.... Let's just say that I planned it with her."

The drive to Hakone went by silently. Well, when you put Hanma and Mikey in one room together, there are only two outcomes. The first one would be, they'd fight. And the second would be silence.

After more silence, they finally arrived at their destination. But not just any destination. It seems that Kei had forgotten to advise them that they'll be staying the night in a ryokan.

"Good day, Kei-san. It's a delight to see you again." One of the ladies greeted the masked woman politely. From their guess, Kei must be a frequent customer. "Your room is prepared and is ready to use."

"Thank you." Kei replied with a polite tone. "Oh- right. Have you prepared the items I asked about?"

"Yes, Kagawa-san personally delivered them the other day. It's in your room."

"Kagawa?" The two asked. "As in Kagawa Chie?"

"Yeah." Kei nodded as the three of them followed after their guide. "This is one of Shoki's chains; Gekko Ryokan. It's fairly popular for their open baths at night. The moon is reflected in the water. It's like bathing in the sky."

"You flatter us, Kei-san." The guide slightly chuckled as they arrived at their assigned room. She opened the door and led the way inside, opening the shojis and revealing the garden. "Please, enjoy your stay. Call us if you need anything." The woman stood up, but before she left, she had given them a warning, "Ah yes, dear guests. There is currently a special guest in the same hall as you, please keep noises to a minimum."

Kei went over to the garden, enjoying the fresh air of nature while the other two just stood there awkwardly. Kei sighed, facing the two, "there are two bedrooms. One of them is for two people, that's where you two are staying. The other one is mine. You can leave your stuff there. There's also a yukata prepared for you two."

"When are we going to meet up with (Y/N)'s daughter?" Mikey asked.

"She's out touring with her adopted father." Kei answered, taking a pack of cigarettes from her pockets. "Don't disturb them. If I find out you two are intervening, then you won't wake up to see tomorrow."

˚✩ ⋆。˚ ✩ °∘❉∘° ˚✩ ⋆。˚ ✩

"Can you see her?" Mikey had ignored the woman asking him the questions as he watched a certain child run around with a big smile on her face. "That's (Y/N)'s daughter, Aki."

".....She... certainly looks like her...." Hanma muttered, watching with a soft expression.

"Doesn't she?" Kei sighed, watching as the two men were completely smitten by the child who was running around the glass ornaments, taking pictures of everything. "Although her energy certainly didn't come from her, don't you think so?"

"I agree. Just looking at her makes me tired." Hanma muttered sarcastically, hinting at the other man who got the message immediately, giving him a glare. "I'm not lying, am I?"

Kei noticed the tension between them, and it wouldn't do her good if these two began to argue. They'll attract many, many, many attention. Because one, there is a strange woman wearing a mask and sunglasses accompanied by two wanted criminals presumed to be dead.

But what worried Kei the most... was attracting that man's attention. The man that Aki had run up to, taking a picture with. Luckily, the other two didn't see since they were too busy killing each other with their glares.

Kei doesn't want Kazutora to see these two.

"Right, I almost forgot." Kei spoke up, gaining the two's attention, making them stop their killing session. "You are not allowed to approach Aki nor her father."

".....why?"

"Why do you think (Y/N) hid her child's existence from you, Mikey, Hanma? Even from her own brother?" Kei's question made them realize the answer and they just nodded obediently. "The gifts you want to give her, we'll deliver them discreetly....." Kei turned silent for a few moments, just standing still and watching the pair of father and daughter walking. "....Just let them live happily with their lives... (Y/N) died to make sure this moment happens... Aki living peacefully and happily.... With him."

The two were understanding enough to know where Kei was going. It was for the best, for both them and Aki and her father. They live in a world completely different from them. And (Y/N) adopting her daughter to someone she could trust that doesn't have any connections to their world was the best way to make sure her daughter lives.

Stil... at the very least, they wanted to see her up close...

Perhaps, they'll see her smiling face again.

But beggars can't be choosers.

Kei had brought them this far, they should be satisfied with it. Just watching from afar is enough.

||A.N||

Fun fact, Aki was supposed to have blonde hair. It was one of my first ideas. And also, Mikey wasn't supposed to meet his daughter after five years. Everything was different from the draft, but I still want to show them. So I'll be putting them in the upcoming high school a.u.

[HIGH SCHOOL AU LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO]
