22 - Meetups on a cold day
I am baaaaaack!
[Bet that you got your ass drunk]
~·~·~·~
'Baji and Kazutora.... Dammit... out of-' You gritted your nails between your teeth, arranging all of the information that Takemitchy has given you from the past. Everything from meeting you, what you gave them, what will happen in the battle and also the reason as to how Baji and Kazutora died. 'Kazutora wouldn't kill his own friends just because. Someone... KISAKI.'
All you felt was anger and disgust for that guy. You just want to strangle him and watch him suffocate.
"(Y/N), you're going to bite your finger off."
"-Ah, sorry..." You flinched, removing your hand off your mouth to turn to Draken, seeing him return with the food you two ordered. "...Thanks..."
Draken had called you out today to eat lunch, but you already knew that there was more to it than just spending time. Draken is never the type to ask someone to eat out or to hang out, he's the one who goes with everyone's bullshit and gets them out of it. You're the type to join.
"You never bite your nails unless you're super stressed." He said, his eyes turning to the uneven bites on your nails. He never likes seeing your nails like that, whenever you did that was when you were overwhelmed, angry, or stressed. "Are you alright?"
"...Uh... yeah... just worried..." You put on a smile, circling your spoon on your food. You honestly didn't have an appetite to eat, you just wanted to do your job and finish it as soon as possible and get Baji and Kazutora back. "...Nothing more."
"...." Draken knew that was a lie.
Out of all the people he knew, you were one of the best at hiding your intentions and your real thoughts, you were the hardest to read. But there are times that you just... couldn't give two shits about hiding anything.
Whenever you didn't care about it, you would smile emptily, looking at the person's eyes, but never really looking at them, but rather, at something that's not even there.
"(Y/N)... did you meet up with Kazutora recently? Knowing you, I'm sure you already met up with him." He continued, not prying into the subject. He can tell that you weren't in the best mindset to talk about it.
"Yeah." You nodded, doing your best to smile. When you met up with him, which was yesterday, was the first time you've hung out with him as (Y/N) in two years, but it ended in the worst way possible. And you still hadn't thanked him. "...Why? Am I... not supposed to...?"
"No. It's good that you're still hanging out with him." He sighed, looking solemnly at his food. "That means that you don't hate him... I don't hate him either... but Mikey... you already know how much Mikey hates Kazutora."
You didn't answer and just kept on eating, also staring sadly at your food that you barely had four bites out of. You really don't want to eat.
"....(Y/N), thanks... Thanks for stopping Mikey from getting his revenge." Ah. He must be talking about a few weeks ago., when Kazutora got released. Mikey wanted to get revenge against the guy who killed his brother. "You and Baji... I wanna thank you two."
".....It's... nothing. It's what friends are for..." If maybe this was a few weeks ago, you would've said that with the biggest smile on your face, but for today, you just wanted to head home and sleep. "What did you want me to do?"
"Always right to the point." He sighed, furrowing his brows. "(Y/N), can you ask Kazutora to meet up with me. I want to talk with him about something."

'I wonder... Can I even find him this time... I already tried calling him...' You sighed, kicking your leg back and forth, waiting in boredom. Draken had long returned back home or went over to Mikey's to tell him about what he asked you about, so here you are, on your second meeting for the day. 'He sure takes his sweet time.'
"Alright, I got you your order." A decorated cup of caramel latte was placed in front of you, along with an extra plate of chocolate cake. You looked up and saw Hanma taking a seat in front of you, with his own order. "So? What do you wanna know?"
"....Why are you drinking beer?" you asked, a bit surprised to see this guy who is only one year older than you drinking beer, in the middle of the day. "It's midday. Also, I didn't order the chocolate cake."
"That's what you're curious about?" He asked, scoffing slightly. He was a bit surprised that you didn't ask how he even managed to order one. "Take the cake, take it as my extra treat."
"....Sure. But you'll pay for it."
"Yeeeeees."
You began to ask him questions, most of them were harmless questions such as why pick that name and why a headless angel, which he answered as you expected, the very same answer you knew, as Kashi and as (Y/N), but not as Hifumi.
"....Toman? I've heard that name..." You muttered, trying to think of it. Hanma mentioned Toman quite a few times already, so you're making it seem like you were actually thinking of this bullshit assignment. "The top gang in Tokyo, right?"
"Hm, somewhat." Hanma shrugged, not at all caring for Toman, well, you could guess why.
"So you'll be fighting on the 31st?" You asked, carefully moving away from the topic of your supposed school work. Hanma wasn't smart, he was just some walking punching machine, and those types of people are the easiest to manipulate. "I'm surprised that you haven't punched any of their members."
"Hm? What makes you say that?"
"I mean, you're clearly the brawny type, not really the brain guy." You smiled innocently, clasping your hands together and resting your chin on top. "When doing my own research, you were just some street kid who liked to fight until Moebous recruited you but after it got disbanded, you got together with a fairly new gang called Valhalla. Since you're the number two, it's obvious that all you can do is fight."
"Say, you're pretty smart." He chuckled, leaning on the table with a smirk. You could already tell that this will lead to something that might be good for you. "Since you know that much, have you heard of Toman's shadow?"
"....I've... heard of things..." Good. Things are going smoothly. You need to show this brawn that there is a brain that might be greater than Kisaki's. "If my research proves me correct, you're talking about Kashi, right?"
"Interesting....." He grinned, his interest peaked.
"Kashi is Toman's intelligence officer. I heard that he has power that might equal the leader's." You continued, flaunting the information you already knew. "Some say he's Mikey's mind, the one who makes the decisions, some kind of like a puppeteer..."
"As fun as that might be to see, things ain't like that, dollface." Hanma took out a cigarette, placing it on his lips and lighting it. "Kashi's power is not his physical strength, although it's still something else, his real power is his talent to turn into completely different people."
"...Hm? Change faces?"
"Yep. To do his little sneaky info gathering, Kisaki told me he probably disguised himself. And that little rat back before 8/3 was him." A small laugh, a very deep and raspy laugh. "Man... I can only imagine what it'll be like going after an opponent who can change identities... Just imagine the thrill of the chase~"
You felt a small chill run up your spine. That grin on his face made you feel uneasy. But you can't let that get in the way of your plans. You still have to prove that you're better than that Kisaki so that you can have this guy on your side.
If Kisaki loses a chess piece, then it'll be a win for you.
"Who knows, the one I'm talking to might be Kashi." Hanma leaned forward, his face inches from yours. But you didn't flinch, you didn't show any type of reaction. Just a calm and innocent smile. "Of course I'm sure that little Kashi can't pull off a pretty girl like you, can he now?"
"Hm~? Who knows, I never met the guy, so I have no words for you." You chuckled, gripping your jacket. God you wanted to poke out his eyes, they keep leeching off of your body. 'Just you wait, Hanma, I'll gouge your eyes out on 31. Personally.'
"Mind accompanying me for the night?" [Ion mind yk👀]
"Absolutely not you fucking piece of shit."

"So, that any help for your work?" Hanma asked, waiting with you for the bus to arrive, smoking another stick of cigarette.
"Hm... let's just say yes, you were a lot of help, Hanma." You replied calmly.
"That's boring."
"What's boring?" You're pretty close to punching him here and now.
"The name." Hanma tilted his head, crossing his arms with a bored look on his face. You raised a brow, wondering where this guy was going with. Was he that bored with his name? "Call me Shuji."
"....Why?"
"I'm bored of Hanma." He said, his face still with a bored tone. He leaned down, placing an arm by the wall, trapping you with one hand. "Go on, call me Shuji, Hifumi."
This is....
"U-um... If you're fine with it..." You stammered, putting on a shy face at his sudden request. "...Shu... Shuji..."
This is going a lot smoother than you thought.

'I never thought...' You began your walk back home, getting off the bus after three stops, a hand on your cheek. 'That guy is so easy.'
Hanma was easy. He was fairly easy to control as you piqued his interest and entertained him. A small kiss was your gift for your performance today. If he wants a show, then you'll give him one.
It'll be something that even surpasses that of Kisaki.
A show Hanma will never get bored of, a show of feelings and manipulation.
"Hey.... Baji."
{(Y/N)... You don't have to say. I heard it from him.}
"Can you...?" You stopped in front of the park, walking over to the swing to sit down for a few moments.
{I'm going to be visiting him tomorrow afternoon. Do you want to come along}
"...Yes." Baji gave you a goodbye and hung up. You sighed, moving your legs to move the swing, looking up on the slowly reddening sky.
There were quite a few clouds and it was really chilly, making you wish you had put on another layer of clothing. If Mikey saw you shivering like this, he'll laugh at your stupidity of not wearing warmer clothes and give you his jacket.
If it was Draken, he'll just scold you lightly and give you a scarf.
If it was Pah, well, you two wouldn't be shivering at all, you two would be too busy playing with his dog Pochi, playing tag, fetch, running.
If it was Mitsuya, he would nicely bring you back home and get you warmer clothes.
And... if it were those two, they would go overboard and you'd end up getting too warm to the point of sweating. Kazutora would scold you with a pout while Baji laughs at your face.
It's a cold day...
Yet there's no one to scold you for your mistake. [Remembering her backstory on the drafts, this makes me sad]

After the Valhalla arc, I'll be showing previews of the High School AU cause I know damn well I'll be going through the five stages of grief rereading that arc for this story.
