♥TWO♥

Alex's POV

I stare at my arm in shock. Did my...they finally...

No, soulmates aren't real.

'Right, soulmate..' I write back.

I sigh. There's no way this is my soulmate, and even if it was, they don't actually love me. Hell, they don't even know me.

'What's wrong?' They ask.

'It's nothing, I have to go now.' I write back before sighing. They write bye and then I see the words fade slightly, showing they washed it off, much like every other time I had written to them.

Why would they try to write to me now? I thought they died like forever ago and I just had no soulmate at all.

It just doesn't make sense why they haven't written, though. What possible reason could there be not to take a pen to your arm and write? And why can't they answer my question? Who says we have to know stupid things about each other to figure out why they ignored me for 19 years?

I groan and stand up to order a coffee. I approach Elizabeth Schuyler and smile kindly at her. "Hello, Ms. Schuyler."

She turns to me and smiles brightly while rolling her eyes. "Alex, I told you to stop calling me that." She giggles and then starts punching stuff into her cash register. "The usual?" She asks.

I nod. "Yeah, except this time not in a to-go cup." I sigh.

She raises an eyebrow at me and then looks at my table. "You're doing your work here? Why? You hate how noisy it is here."

"I can't do it in my dorm, I have an annoying roommate." I explain to her.

She frowns. "Oh, that sucks. At least you didn't get stuck with a hoe." She giggles.

I raise an eyebrow and smirk. "Did you just call someone else a hoe? Miss Schuyler, I never knew you as one to say such things."

She groans dramatically. "I've been moved in with her for literally three nights and each night she's brought a different guy to our dorm. I think I may lock the door tonight."

I chuckle and nod at the young woman in front of me. She was really beautiful, I must admit. Not sure if she's really my type, but her sister definitely is.

Her sister, Angelica Schuyler, also the owner of the cafe, was very beautiful, but bossy. When she wanted things done, they were done within seconds, no questions asked. That's what I like about her, her demanding personality.

"Who's your roomie?" I ask, looking around the cafe.

"Her name is Maria Lewis. She only has red clothes in her closet, so she won't be hard to miss."

"Are you judging her for sticking to a specific color? Because I do believe you do the same thing, Elizabeth."

She giggles once again. "Yeah, but that's different. That's a thing me and my sisters do. I'm blue, Peggy is yellow, and Angelica is pink." The door flung open and we both look over at it. "Speak of the devil." She mumbles.

Angelica walks in with her bag at her side and a pep in her step. I smile and lean against the counter as she approaches us, an approving smile on her face as she looks down at both of us.

"Well, if it isn't the eldest Schuyler sister." I say to her, making sure she knew I was flirting.

She rolls her eyes. "Must you always be so formal, Alexander?" She asks, setting her bag down after joining Elizabeth behind the counter.

"Hey, I'm practically speaking to royalty here." I shrug as I face the two Schuyler Sisters. "Only two? Where's the youngest Schuyler?"

Elizabeth shrugs. "Peggy is at home, she was too sick to come in today."

Angelica then looks at the cash register and raises an eyebrow at me. "You're not getting your coffee to go?" She asks.

I shake my head. "Can't go to my room, I have an annoying roommate."

She nods. "Ah, I see." She then turns towards Elizabeth. "Didn't you say you had an annoying roommate, as well?"

She nods. "Yep." She says, popping the 'p.'

"Anyway, it was lovely talking to you ladies. I have to get back to my work now." I wink at the two and then head back to my table. As I sit down, I see Elizabeth and Angelica talking, a slight shade of pink covering the younger sister's cheeks. I chuckle lightly before going back to reading my book.

Soon, a coffee is placed in front of me by someone with a blue sleeve and I smile up at her. "Thank you, Miss Schuyler."

She rolls her eyes gently. "Alex, why are you so formal all the time?" She asks.

I shrug. "Why not? I know you secretly love it."

She blushes a bit and just giggles. "I think you think a bit too high of yourself."

Not at all.

"Oh, you say that like it's a bad thing. A little pride never hurt anyone." I say, smiling at her.

"Said no one ever." She puts her hands on her hips. "Do you not remember high school? Your pride got you beat up like every week."

I shrug once again. "Eh, that's in the past. Besides, it was just Jefferson, who was just as prideful."

"Oh, that's right. Did you hear he's coming here to study law as well?" She asks.

I sigh. "Unfortunately, yes. But, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he has matured over the past two months."

Elizabeth raises an eyebrow at me and I chuckle. "You're right, he probably hasn't." I say. "However, I swear that I will try to be on my best behavior, since I know it worries you so much."

She smiles gently. "Well, I know that promise won't be kept very well, but I'll take it, since it's an attempt."

"Eliza, come on." Angelica's voice calls from the cash register.

"Well, work seems to be calling you. Until next time, Miss Schuyler."

She blushes and nods her head at me before walking back to her sister to help take orders and such. My phone dings and I pull it out to see a text from none other than Lafayette.

Baguette Hey, we're going to that new restaurant tonight to get to know each other. You in?

A.Ham And who is this "we?"

Baguette My roommate, your roommate, and I.

A.Ham Hm..I'm good. I'm not too fond of my roommate.

Baguette Alexander, it's not good to keep to yourself or to dislike your roommate. Please come?

A.Ham I'm good. I'd rather get ahead on school work. Goodbye, Lafayette.

Baguette You are the worst, Alex.

A.Ham Gee, thanks.

I roll my eyes and set my phone down. Yeah right I want to hang out with my annoying roommate, fake brother and his most likely annoying roommate.
