Prologue
Sia sat at one of the corners in the bar, with a glass of wine in her hand, her eyes somewhere she wasn't aware and her mind wandering back to the way she'd ended up here. Just this morning, her friend, Mishthi had shown up in her office.
She had a huge smile like always, "Happy Birthday, love!" She had shouted, claiming the attention of the entire office and getting some irritated looks. Sia had rolled her eyes at the older girl, pretended to be fed up with her shit but the way the edges of her lips had slightly turned up, ruined the act.
Sia sighed, before getting up from her desk and trying to shush the brunette, "I know I'm reaching my end very soon, but could you please keep it down? There are people who actually work and don't have time to travel to another state just to wish her best-friend her birthday."
Mishthi just shook her head at the girl, "Nope!" She was totally grinning by now, "I have to make an announcement," and with that she climbed upon one of the tables and Sia looked at with wide eyes, trying to pull her back down but was too late. "Attention! Each of you! Listen to me you peasants." She started.
"Princess! Get down, now." Sia warned her only to be ignored by the five-year-old girl, who was actually supposed to be twenty-two.
"I know Sia only works part-time with you guys," she continued, "and she might not even know some of your names but she's turning twenty-one today! So, as she can now legally consume alcohol in United Stated of America, I'm throwing a fucking party and y'all are invited in it!" She reached her bag to retrieve some cards from it and threw it all around the office. Although, she was later forced by Sia to pick up all of them and to hand the employees like a normal human should.
And here she was, sitting all alone in a club filled with almost a hundred people. Just a few minutes she'd gotten a text from Mishthi, saying she'd be a bit late. Sia groaned, closing her eyes in annoyance. As if this all wasn't enough, the DJ had decided to change the song playing to some rap Sia didn't recognise. She placed the glass of wine on the counter, standing up from her seat and straightening the brown off shoulder bodycon dress she was wearing. She probably should have waited for her college friend, Deepti, to return from the bathroom and take her wine glass back but she was getting impatient.
She walked towards the exit of the club, to go outside and get some fresh air. She had already greeted everyone here and asked about their well-being. She had even found some people who were willing to invest in the company. As she walked outside, she felt herself collide with something, which wasn't a wall obviously. She felt the cold liquid falling all over her dress and looked up at the owner of that clumsy body.
"What the shit?" Frowned the boy she'd bumped into, "why the fuck is everyone conspiring against me?"
She looked up from her stained dress, ready to shout at him with all her anger she had in her small body, but as she got a look at those hazel eyes, she forgot everything for a moment. He snapped in front of her to gain her attention, "excuse me, Madame? Out of your wonderland please."
Sia took in a breath, trying to keep herself stable, "No! Excuse you! You just ruined my dress, you don't get to be the one who shouts." She pointed at him by her index finger, "out of my way!" Sia knew she didn't look much intimidating; she was the kind to look like a cinnamon roll but could kill you.
He furrowed his eyebrows at the girl, which Sia found very endearing. Get a fucking grip, Sia! She wanted to punch him on the face for some reason, "uhm how about a no?" Said the boy and she knew the reason. He was a jerk, and he didn't have any right to look good.
She could have punched him but instead she gave him a tight-lipped smile, "you're not gonna get an accolade standing there. The only thing that you'll get is a hard punch. We don't wanna ruin that pretty face, now do we, your Majesty?" He could feel the sarcasm dripping from each and every word that she'd spoken. "Move," she said with a finality in her tone and perplexed by the former threat, he moved.
She gave him one last glare before starting to walk towards the exit. Some people are such dicks!
Ayaan stared at the girl as she walked out of the door, he just wanted to party hard and have fun but now his mood was ruined. He groaned as the girl took a turn and vanished somewhere. As he turned around, he couldn't help but think of her dark brown eyes that spoke more that the girl herself, which was actually too much. He heard the sarcasm in her voice over and over again as he walked to one of the counters and ordered another drink.
He couldn't forget the way she'd pointed her finger at him and how confident she was about ruining his pretty face. And he smiled as he realised she'd called him pretty. What the fuck Ayaan? As he finished the drink, his phone dinged. He sighed opening the message and tried to shake her out of his mind.
It wasn't gonna be exactly easy to do that, she'd gotten on his nerves so badly. Some people are such asses!
