Chapter 6

Vincent never felt so scared in his damned life. He was hidden far beneath the bed, tucked back as much as his body would let him, blankets at pillows swaddling his body as he tried feebly to hold down his ears.

The house shook as another blast of cold wind hit its frame, the neko's bones shivering on que, his tail fluffed twice its sized and tucked directly between his legs, twinning around one.

Muffled howls still managed to cut through the fabric, the human's heart beat frantically against his chest as he clamped his hands down harder.

He screamed in fear.

- - -

Papyrus walked steadily through the snow shrouded town, barely able to focus on the ground in front of him. If it wasn't for his sense of wearabout he was, he surely would have gotten lost in the storm.

Gritting his teeth, he put his arm in front of his face to sheild his eye sockets, the ice crystals whipping at him and beating against his exposed bones, showing no mercy to his skull.

"Numb skull.." He muttered, thinking of every pun Sans had ever made about snow. He had too good of a memory for them and despised himself for it.

His boots sank into the soft, freshly fallen snowflakes and made it hard to traverse the land, working all the way to his waist as the harsh conditions only worsened.

He didn't care. He had to get home to his pet.

- - -

Vincent closed his eyes tightly and bunched into a ball, pressing against the corner where the walls met under the bed, his spine chilled from the cold that emmitted from the wood.

He was forcing himself to shift when a loud crack erupted outside, sending the neko into a fit of turmoil as he screamed, burying himself yet deeper into the blanket's confines.

He yowled as a thud hit the house and shook it wildly, the lights that he had turned on in his panic zapped befpre short ciruciting, sending Vincent into unending darkness.

- - -

Papyrus felt a flicker of relief stir in his empty soul, imstantly smothered out by the lack of warmth and light he had been expecting from the home.

He trudged ahead, shoving snow aside with his body and pouned at the door, having frosted over from the intense cold.

"VINCENT!"

- - -

Nothing but loud racking and thrashing reached Vincent through the ruckus, huddling close to himself, his breath panicked gasps of hot air that was trapped in front of his face.

- - -

Papyrus hollered in rage and rammed his shoulder against the wooden door, breaking the ice under the repeated beatint contact, his breath puffing in clouds around his skull.

- - -

Vincent heart sank and he felt nauseous, his lips trembling and moving as he felt invisible bile rise in his throat and force him to gag, shivering uncontrollably.

- - -

Papyrus yelled as he slammed the door open, shedding little light into the dark house, staggering in as a swath of snow followed behind him.

- - -

Vincent whimpered pitifully, unable to comprehend anything but the choking fear instilled in his soul.

- - -

Papyrus screamed for the neko, searching blindly for the human cat, his eye flashing wild red in an empty eye socket.

- - -

Vincent went still from terror, his face scunched from a scream that ripped at his throat.

- - -

Papyrus felt numb and disconnected from his body, barely registering the pain of slamming his fists against anything nearby, tossing furniture out of his way.

- - -

Vincent could feel his heart slowing as cold fought through hia warm defenses, slicing into his skin and chilling his blood.

- - -

Papyrus stumbled up the stairs, a feeble call escaping his mouth.

- - -

Vincent ear twitched, barely recognizing the low voice.

- - -

Papyrus reached his room and pushed open the door.

- - -

Vincent heard the wood slide across the carpet and tightened into his ball of fear.

- - -

Papyrus collapsed in the middle of the bedroom, reaching for the scarlet red of his comforter.

- - -

Vincent felt a tug at his reinforcements, unable to fight back.

- - -

Papyrus crawled under the bed frame, his feet kicking weakly as he pressed against a familiar form.

- - -

Vincent caught the scent of bones.

- - -

Papyrus saw a faint flash of purple.

- - -

Vincent whined.

- - -

Papyrus chuckled weakly.

- - -

They had found what they had been searching for.

- - -

Each other.
