A possible AU fic I might write in the near future. It takes place in a place influenced by Louisiana around the 1920's and it's inspired by books, musicals, and movies such as Moulin Rouge, The Godfather, The Great Gatsby, Ragtime, Les Miserables, and Phantom of the Opera. Let me know if you would read this if I wrote it and if it's a good idea.

Magnolia is one of the biggest cities in the world and one of the most exciting and corrupted. One full of parties, gambling, mobs, music, vigilantism, and Fairy Tail. The most popular cabaret in Magnolia run by Gildarts Clive, a business man who keeps his customers coming with three of his best girls who find themselves tangled up in crime, greed, and love.

The Cabaret

Lucy Heartfilia - Known as the Diamond Star, she's a charming yet high-spirited and fickle debutante born into a wealthy family where she's neglected by her father and abused by her stepmother. She's the cabaret's best dancer who carries herself with a seductive sophistication that many men find attractive. Her goal is to hopefully win the heart of a rich bachelor who can take her away from her family.

Erza Scarlet - Known as the Fairy Queen, Fairy Tail's shrewd, hard-headed, star courtesan who possesses a heart of gold. After she and her younger sister Wendy were abandoned by their mother she made it her life goal to take care of Wendy and do whatever it took to provide for her. Men see her as a goddess with a sinful body while women see her as shameless trash but in actuality she's just a working girl who wants to provide a home for her sister.

Juvia Lockser - Known as the Rain Angel, a very shy, kind, and demure young lady. The child of Irish immigrants who was raised in Harlem after yellow fever killed her parents. She has the voice of an angel and is the cabaret's best singer but she also happens to be the only virgin performer which makes her worth a lot to many male customers. However she's a romantic at heart and dreams of one day finding true love.

Gildarts Clive - The wild and perverse owner of Fairy Tail, he goes out of his way to make sure that his business is booming and that the dough keeps coming in. However unlike most men in his line of work he sincerely cares about his girls and will not tolerate them being mistreated by anyone even customers.

Wendy Marvell - Erza's younger sister who she's looked after and cared for like a parent. She doesn't like Erza selling herself for the two of them to get by so she secretly works as a house keeper in order save up enough money for which Erza can finally quit.

Cana Alberona - Gildart's daughter who works as a waitress in the cabaret. She's annoyed by her father's business but nevertheless she loves him very much and tries to help him the best way she can. She's also one hell of a booze hound and will sometimes challenge customers to a drinking challenge.

The Mafia

Natsu Dragneel - A smooth, witty, and blunt Italian-American who has been raised by his uncle to be apart of the family mob business. Under the belief that the Heartfilia family orchestrated the murder of his father he seeks revenge by working with his uncle to kill them and steal their fortune. Natsu intends to accomplish this by romancing Lucy and using her for information but what if he develops real feelings toward her?

Mard Geer - Natsu's uncle and the mob boss of their family. He is cruel, greedy, and manipulative with a strong hatred toward the rich and high class. His goal is to wipe them out entirely and then takeover the city by any means necessary. Nothing will stand in his way. Not even his own family.

Laxus Dreyar - Natsu's cousin and Mard's other nephew, he desperately wants to succeed his uncle as the next mob boss but Mard has him under the belief that he is going to pick Natsu to be his heir. This makes him start to resent and envy his cousin.

Makarov Dreyar - Natsu and Laxus's grandfather who was originally the most well known and deadly mafia boss in Magnolia. However after a job gone wrong resulted in his wife getting killed he gave up that life and decided to do honest work. He loves his grandsons deeply and tries so hard to steer them away from their corrupt family business.

In Harlem

Gray Fullbuster - A cold, bitter, and vengeful young man. Born of Creole descent, as a child he witnessed his parents brutally killed by a bigoted mob and later watched his aunt die the same way. When the police failed to deliver justice he resorted to becoming a secret vigilante called the Ice Devil who murders in cold blood while hiding behind the mask of a well respected gentleman. He has lost sight of all good in humanity, that is until a certain angelic singer catches his eye.

Gajeel Redfox - A tough, streetwise, aspiring jazz musician who dreams of becoming one of the most famous in Magnolia. Unfortunately his ambition cost him his seemingly only chance at love and he ended up living alone until he took in the orphaned Juvia who he not only raised but taught how to use her musical gift.

Mirajane Strauss - Erza's bubbly, cheerful, but by no means air headed childhood friend who works as a seamstress. She often tries to help Erza with her money problems and will even lend a hand in taking care of Wendy as she herself has younger siblings.

From Up North

Levy Mcgarden - Originally from Magnolia but moved North to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. She's very ambitious, patient, and intellectual. She goes back to Magnolia in order to get a story on the mafia and vigilantism taking place there but her investigation soon leads her to reuniting with an old flame.

Jellal Fernandes - Levy's well read, reasonable, yet socially awkward partner who travels with her to Magnolia to get a good story. When Wendy ends up working as his housekeeper, he learns of her and her sister's predicament which causes him to become accidentally involved with a certain red haired courtesan.
