Chapter 2: A Meeting
"They say the hardest part of this job is narrowing the person down, but seeing the light leave their eyes is more painful then dying yourself"
——————————————————————————————-
~Bianca's POV~
"Fucking compose yourself," I thought. This wasn't my first time on the job yet...I was extremely nervous on my own university campus.
The weather was colder than usual, my breath visible against the morning sunrise.
I rapped my scarf closer to my face making my breathing more noticeable in my ears almost drowning out the voice of my boss bouncing around in my head. The conversation was still fresh in my mind.
~Flashback~
I knocked on boss's door, butterflies fluttering in my stomach. Something about her...personality always told me something was off, but I decided not to ponder too long about it.
"Of course something's not right. She kills people for a living", was the excuse I always used.
I tidied up my clothing in a flash before hearing her familiar voice, choked by the years of smoking.
"Come in"
I opened the door and swiftly shut it behind me, standing in front of your boss (that never told you her name for security reasons) with broad shoulders and long, shiny black hair.
"Uh- you called me", I stated, my nerves visible in my weak knees and shaky voice.
"Yes. I'm here to offer advice for your assignment".
I nodded uneasily.
"You will definitely need advice about this one", she said bluntly.
"Why is that?"
"Well," she looked at me dead in the eyes, "he's been assigned to kill you as well."
"W-What?"
"Let me get straight to the point."
I gulped as a bead of sweat formed on my face.
"His fathers company is our...competitor. After years of trying, we managed to gain intel into them and we can see their assignments. This will not be easy."
"Ok. So I'll be extra careful. Do they know that I've been assigned him as well?" My heart was beating quickly by now.
"Not as far as we know".
I breathed a sigh of relief.
As there was a slight silence I headed towards the door.
"Oh and one more thing," the boss said, "if you're unsuccessful, you will be fired. You know what happens after that, but by then you'd already be killed so those measures would be...well...already provided".
I stopped in my tracks.
She was right.
This is not gonna be easy.
