Return

"Hey dad," Sans smiles, "you remember me right?"

Gaster hugs Sans. "How could I froget my son?" He asks, "so tell me Sans, how is your brother?"

"He's doing great up on the surface," Sans replies.

"Surface?" Gaster asks, "never mind. We can catch up later. For now, Sans, where is the anomaly?"

"Frisk?" Sans asks, "they're a good kid. Don't worry about them for now."

"Sans, you have to answer honestly, what is your LOVE?"

"..."

"Sans, you can trust me."

"It's... eleven."

"Good. Then maybe we can pull this off in one reset."

"Pull what off?"

"Sans, I wasn't the only one stuck in the void. There was someone else, Chara. Listen, Sans, I can save us both. I just need DETERMINATION. Just let me do this. Give in to Chara."

"Are you fucking crazy!?! Chara!?! The genocidal maniac!?!"

"I will not defend their past actions, but even if you don't want to help Chara, I'll be gone when the anomaly resets. I have to be the one to reset. Sans, I need DETERMINATION. I need human souls."

"I'm not killing anyone else."

"Sans, nothing here matters. All you see will be reset to null. Zip. Nada, but now we can change the reset. We can save someone the anomaly couldn't, me. Sans, you've come so far. Are you really going to give up now?"

"I guess you're right."

"Good. You mentioned the surface, right? That's where you got these souls?"

"Yeah."

"Good, cause we need more. Cmon' son, we have work to do." The two walk outside. Sans notices something, a glowing yellow ball. He touches it.

*DETERMINATION.

"Don't bother Chara," Gaster explains, "you'll need a lot more DETERMINATION to survive the reset, much less save."

"What's the plan?" Sans asks.

"We need souls," Gaster replies looking at the bustling crowd of humans and monsters, "so we get them." Gaster summons a Gaster Blaster. The next thing Sans hears, is the sound of hundreds of souls breaking. Gaster gathers the souls.

"Gaster!" Sans yells, "what the fuck!?!"

"I'm tired of being nothing, bone tired. I will return at any cost," Gaster explains, "Not to mention, we're going to reset after this. Nothing matters, nothing at all."

Sans remembers the sensation of his sins crawling down his back each morning after they killed Frisk over and over and over. He knows that they'll never go away. He can never froget what he did.

"I can't do this," Sans sighs, "I'm sorry dad."

"Who said you had to?" Gaster asks. He triggers a fight.

"Dad?"

"Sorry Sans, but if I want to save Chara and myself I need help, and if that means I need Chara... well, I'll see you in the next one kid."

Gaster attacks...
