Facing Judgement Part Two
Sans grins. "Playtime is over," he smirks. He summons a gaster blaster, and attacks. Gaster counters with one of his own gaster blasters.
Sans gets agitated, and attacks Gaster. Gaster douges.
"Gaster," Chara pleads, "go get something to extract his DETERMINATION."
"That'll take to long," Gaster replies, "he'll kill you."
"It'll be OK," Chara replies, "we both know I have experience douging his attacks."
"Be safe Chara," Gaster pleads, "and Sans, I'm sorry, for everything, but I promise, that everyone will be happier with Chara. Just, try not to move Sans, or you'll melt."
Sans glares at Gaster. He doesn't seem to care. Gaster takes a shortcut to the True Lab, searching for an empty needle to extract Sans's DETERMINATION.
Sans attacks, but it's not what Chara is expecting. Sans attacks with intense speed, his attacks are significantly more intense, and much more difficult to douge. He attacks with bones and gaster blasters at the same time.
Chara barley manages to douge. Chara tries to ACT. They can still ask, or they can plead. Chara knows that Sans won't listen if they plead, so they ask again.
Chara asks Sans if he wants to talk about the last reset. Sans turns away. He doesn't respond. His attacks grow slower.
Chara asks Sans if he has any regrets. A frown stretches across Sans's face. He attacks again.
"Sans," Frisk intervenes seeing Sans's attacks slow, "they're manipulating you. You need to finish them off, before you melt."
"You're right," Sans replies, "I'll finish this."
Sans is preparing a massive attack. Chara prepares to douge. They know this will be a truly bad time.
Sand attacks. Throwing Chara against walls, summoning bones and gaster blasters, turning Chara's soul blue, red, blue again, and attacking without any sign of letting up. Until finally, as Sans attempts to summon another gaster blaster, his hand begins to melt. In desperation, Sans sets gaster blasters over all menu options and ends his turn. Chara tries to access the item menu to douge, but then realizes there's two gaster blasters pointing down at them. Chara tries to end their turn as quick as they can with ACT, but they to slow. The gaster blasters fire and Chara takes nineteen damage.
Sans's turn begins. His breathing is weak and inconsistent. "Well," he sighs, "guess that's it," the speed of his text slows to a crawl, and his eyes go blank, "I win kiddo."
"What are you talking about?" Chara asks, "you're melting, it's over Sans."
"But Gaster's not here," Sans smiles, "I'm going to melt, and I'm going to die. Then, you'll have to RESET."
"Sans," Chara asks, "is this really going to atone for your sins?"
Sans is shocked, he wasn't expecting this.
"That's what's bothering you isn't it?" Chara asks, "the guilt? The blood on your hands? Listen, Sans, you have nothing to feel guilty for. You weren't given a choice during the first RESET, and on the surface, the first one was an accident, and I was subtlety manipulating you for all the others. You have done nothing wrong, but me..."
Chara stops for a moment. They sigh, "I could never atone for everything I've done. Everyone I've hurt to get this soul, but I'm almost to the surface. Freeing monsters is the least I could do to atone for what I've done. Please, Sans, let me pass. You don't have to kill anymore. You have nothing to atone for. I may be evil, but you don't have to be."
Sans believes what Chara says is sincere. His sins seem to roll off his back, for the first time in many years, he's happy, but that makes what he's about to do much harder.
"Kid," he replies, "I'm sorry, but this is how it's gotta be." Sans summons gaster blasters, surrounding the box. Chara closes their eyes... and opens them apon realizing they're still alive.
Gaster stands there, holding a needle filled with Sans's DETERMINATION.
"Sans," Gaster explains, "listien, I know I've done horrible things, but think about how happy Toriel and Asgore will be with Chara. Could Frisk ever give them that? Please, for the good of all monsters, let 'The Hope of the Underground' pass."
Reluctantly, Sans decides to back down.
Frisk, seeing that their last hope is gone, snaps. "Traitor!" He yells, "after all I did for you! For all monsters! I thought we were freinds! Yet you cast me aside, replace me with this- this demon! You truly are a monster Sans. Goodbye."
"Frisk wait!" Sans yells... but nobody came. Frisk is gone. There's only one person left they can turn to, Asgore.
Meanwhile, Gaster talks to Sans.
"So you with us now?" Gaster asks.
"Don't push it," Sans replies, "I'm only letting you live, nothing more. This doesn't make us freinds. I'm going to Snowdin, just break The Barrier."
Sans leaves.
"Well," Gaster sighs, "guess we should focus on the task at hand. You need to befreind Undyne."
"Sure," Chara replies, "as long as she won't kill me."
"She won't," Gaster replies, "don't worry." Gaster sighs, clearly bothered by somthing.
"You OK?" Chara asks.
"Yeah," Gaster replies, "it's just that I keep trying to patch things up with Sans, but as you can see, it doesn't go well."
"These things take time," Chara replies, they clutch their locket, "you should just be glad he's still alive. Anyways, I'm headed to Waterfall."
Chara begins towards Waterfall. Gaster holds the DETERMINATION. He decides to hold onto it. He heads back to Snowdin. Chara has faced judgement, but now they must own up to their mistakes, and try to befreind Undyne...
