Chapter 38

Today was the day that Naruto and Jiraiya would both be leaving to train. I was kind of emotional about it, considering they're my family. Jiraiya wasn't blood-related, but I still consider him to be family.

I finished getting ready for the day and locked the door behind me as I left my house.

I stopped by Naruto's apartment and knocked on his door. He opened it, looking like he had just now woken up.

"Thank goodness you came by because I would've overslept!" He said, inviting me inside. His apartment was messy and had clothes thrown around the floor. He noticed me looking around he looked embarrassed. "Uh, sorry about the mess,"

"You're fine," I replied. "I can clean it for you when you leave if you'd like,"

"You'd do that for me?" He asked with surprise.

"I don't mind," I smiled. "I thought I'd see if you needed any help packing up,"

"I think I've got it from here," He said.

He started scrambling around his apartment trying to pack his bags. He was telling me about how he was excited to train with Jiraiya.

"But the one thing I'm not looking forward to is Pervy-Sage's 'research'," He grimaced. "I know he'll ditch training for that,"

"Yes, he will," I chuckled. "All you have to do is embarrass him in front of the women he tries to hit on if he loses focus. He sure wasn't happy with me when I called him a pervert in front of this woman he was trying to flirt with,"

"I will definitely have to try that. Did that work?"

I nodded. "Yup. Then I brought Tsunade unintentionally and she set him straight,"

He looked terrified at the thought of Tsunade's temper. I'm going to assume he's seen it already.

"I'm going to check in with Jiraiya, but I'll see you both off at the gate later," I said, standing up.

I left after that to find Jiraiya and of course, I found him talking to some woman at the cafe here. He didn't even realize that I was walking up to him since he was staring at her as if she was the best thing he's ever seen.

"Perving on women again?" I ask, sitting down in front of him with a smirk.

The woman's expression changed to a disgusted one and she immediately got up and walked away. Jiraiya glared at me. "I thought you knew not to say things like that in public!"

"You would've been late to meet Naruto at the gate if I didn't show up," I held my smirk.

"Well, I'll have you know that was for an upcoming novel!" He protested. "I swear, sometimes I can't tell if you or Naruto is worse about that,"

"You'll live," I snickered. "I just wanted to ask you about the Akatsuki. I don't know that much about them, besides the fact that Itachi and Kisame are a part of them,"

Jiraiya started telling me everything he knew so far about the Akatsuki and how he's been tracking their movements. Then he told me about how he will be tracking them and getting more information while he trains with Naruto.

With that, he checked the time and saw it was time to leave. We both walked to the gate and Naruto was already there, along with Kakashi and Sakura.

"Ready to go, Pervy Sage?!" Naruto grinned with excitement. Jiraiya rolled his eyes in response to the name Naruto had called him.

"Before you go," I said and walked over to Naruto. "You better be careful out there and don't be reckless either if you encounter any trouble while you're away,"

Naruto grinned. "I will,"

They started leaving after that and we all waved at them as they left. I knew he would be safe with Jiraiya, but I still couldn't help but worry about him being gone for so long since the Akatsuki is still out there. Even if they wouldn't strike until three years later, it was still worrying.

Sakura left since she was going to go train with Tsunade, leaving Kakashi and I alone.

"It's going to be quiet without him here," I remarked.

"Yeah, it will," Kakashi replied.

"Jiraiya told me that I should tell him about us being related when he gets back, and even though that won't be until three years later, I don't think I'm ready. I didn't take into account that he would ask me about his parents," I sighed.

Kakashi and I started walking back into the village.

"Maybe you could tell him that you're not ready to talk about them. You're his cousin, after all, he doesn't have to know you grew up with them yet,"

"I don't know. Lord Third wanted it to be a secret and yet I don't even know when he wanted Naruto to know. I wish he would've left a note behind for me or something in case something happened,"

Kakashi and I walked through the village and of course, he was reading Makeout Violence the entire time.

"Of course you start reading that right now," I chuckled.

"You like these books too," Kakashi retorted, but he was joking.

"Yeah, but at least I'm more discreet about it. You don't see me reading it out in public, or during training,"

Kakashi was about to reply, but Iruka walking up to us cut him off.

"Hana? Lady Tsunade wanted to see you," He said.

"Alright then, see you Kakashi," I left and quickly made my way to the Hokage's Tower. The sound of construction was pretty annoying though, they were carving her face into the rock next to Uncle Minato's face.

I knocked on her door.

"Come in,"

"You wanted to see me?" I ask, stepping inside the office.

I saw an older man standing inside her office.

"This is the Feudal Lord from the Land of Hot Water. He was here for a meeting, but now he needs to be escorted back to his village safely," She explained. "He will tell you where he needs to go."

She dismissed me after further explaining the mission and I left with the Feudal Lord, who was telling me about the Steam Village being peaceful and how they had to deal with a troublesome ninja that kept trying to use violence in their village.

Then he brought up that he was scared of that guy, so that's why he wanted to be escorted.

~Time skip~

It took about a day, but I got the Feudal Lord escorted successfully and now I was heading back. I was running through the forest, but I was starting to get tired.

No matter how hard I tried to ignore it, I knew I had to take a break. My body was exhausted and the fact that it was probably almost 3 am, wasn't helping.

I jumped down from the tree branches and set up a camp.

As I made my dinner over the fire, I heard rustling from the bushes nearby and looked around with alarm. I stayed quiet and kept my guard up.

"Hey!"

I immediately recognized that voice and got my hand ready to form a rasengan, just in case.

The man with the orange swirly mask jumped down from the tree above me. "It's you again!"

I narrowed my eyes at him. "What do you want from me?"

He put his hand over his chest as if he was offended, keeping that childish demeanor. "Why are you being so mean? I told you I wasn't gonna hurt you. I'm just lost and wanted to hang here with you,"

"Look, I know you were in the village when the Nine-Tails attacked. I'm not stupid. What do you want from me?"

He got quiet and then started putting his hands on his mask as if he was thinking.

"You've got me all mixed up. I was just passing by here and I got lost. I saw a fire up ahead and then came here to see if you had any directions,"

So he was going to keep denying it. I didn't trust him at all.

He sat down across from me at the fire and I still had my hand ready. He seemed to have noticed that I was ready for an attack and he moved towards me. I launched myself towards him with the rasengan, but it went right through him and my body fell forward.

Baffled, I quickly turned back around and stared up at him with anticipation.

He turned around and held his hand out as if he was going to help me up and instead of taking it, I stood up myself and narrowed my eyes at him.

"What the hell was that?"

He stayed quiet and then reached his gloved hand out. He gripped lightly onto my wrist. "Where's your bracelet?"

I rose an eyebrow at him and retracted my hand quickly, then looked away from him. "It's at home. I wanted it to be in a safe space. What's it to you?"

Now it was quiet and my heart started to beat quicker. I didn't know whether he was going to attack me or not. I got my hand ready once again in case he tried something. I could feel that he was staring at me. I looked up at him and he stared down at me without a word.

I made eye contact with the man and my eyes started to widen when I saw a crimson orb staring right back at me.

He had a Sharingan. He was an Uchiha.

But how the hell was that possible? Itachi and Sasuke were the only two left of the Uchiha Clan, and that definitely wasn't Itachi. So who was this man?

My eyes didn't break away from his and suddenly, he started to walk away.

I couldn't move since I was in shock. I only had one question on my mind and I intended to get an answer.
