Chapter 35
A lot happened last week. I had that mission, then ran into that masked guy, and then Tsunade became our Hokage. We had her ceremony last week too and now, I was catching up with Tsunade and Shizune.
I had to tell them about the reasoning behind my last name change and how Lord Third and I had this agreement about how Naruto can't know I'm related until those ninjas are done targeting me. She seemed surprised to hear that a group of vigilantes was using me to get their revenge on my Uncle.
Then Tsunade had to go meet with the Leaf Village Council, so it was just Shizune and I now.
"Are you and Kakashi together?" She asked.
I shook my head. "Nope, just friends,"
"I thought you were because I vaguely remember that whole thing with you and him back then," She chuckled.
"Yeah, well that didn't work out and I ended up dating my best friend instead," I answered. She was about to ask who, but then she gave me a look of sympathy when she finally remembered who I was talking about.
"I'm sorry about that," She said softly.
"I'm healing and it's not easy, but I'm managing. I just had to clean up some messes I've made after the war," I shrug.
"So no one else special after that?" She asks.
I shook my head. "Nope. I had a connection with him that won't ever be replaced. I've been on a couple of dates of course, but they just don't feel right. It feels like I'm betraying him if I even think about dating again,"
"But wouldn't he want you to be happy?" Shizune asked, pouring more tea in our cups. "I feel like he wouldn't want you to deprive yourself of happiness,"
I shrug.
I just couldn't do it. A couple of guys have asked me out in the past and I accepted, but it felt wrong. Obito was my best friend since childhood, so our connection was special and irreplaceable. When we got together, it felt like everything was in place. No one can make me feel the way he did. Plus it just feels like I'm betraying him.
Maybe Shizune was right, but if I were to date again, it would have to be when I'm not so emotionally damaged by my past.
She changed the subject and we caught up some more. I then had to go because my mind flickered back to the masked guy from last week and the other one who I couldn't remember. I had a feeling deep down, but I needed to remember first before jumping to any conclusions.
I needed to ask Tsunade for input on remembering something. I feel like she would know.
I went to my house and decided to try and find my own way to remember until I see Tsunade again, so I took out a piece of paper and pen. I started drawing the mask I saw last week and that didn't help.
I shut my eyes, trying to force myself to recall it, but I was just giving myself another headache. I got up to take some Ibuprofen and then went back to my dining table.
"Come on, think, think," I smacked my hand against my head.
I grabbed another sheet of paper and then started drawing the outline of the other guy's mask. I had the shape down, but something kept blocking me from remembering that night. Stupid brain.
I decided I would go back to that spot the night it happened and see if that brought anything back. So I quickly slipped my shoes on and started sprinting towards that spot. I always avoided that area as much as I could, due to the following events that happened after Minato told me to leave.
"Hey, watch it!" Someone shouted.
"Sorry!" I exclaimed, still sprinting on ahead.
I panted when I was finally there and looked around. Nothing was coming to my head. I was in a tree though, so maybe I'll go up there.
I jumped up on the exact spot and stared at the space in front of me. He had long, bushy hair. He wore a mask, yet it was too dark to see.
I shut my eyes trying to visualize it.
And of course, nothing. I groaned and sat down on the tree in frustration.
I swung my legs and looked up at the sky, trying so hard to remember. I was cut off by the sound of someone calling my name. I looked down from the tree and saw Team Seven.
"What are you doing up there?" Sakura asked.
"Just clearing my head," I half-lied. "What are you three up to?"
Naruto grinned mischievously. "We're trying to see what's under Kakashi-Sensei's mask!"
Sasuke then started talking. "And we know you're close to him. We were wondering if you could help us,"
I chuckled and jumped down from the tree. "Sure, I'll help,"
Messing with Kakashi once in a while doesn't hurt.
They sighed with relief, probably thinking I wasn't going to help.
"Have you ever seen him without his mask?" Sakura asks.
I nodded. My cheeks turned slightly pink at the thought of him without his mask. He's my best friend, but there's still no denying that he's always been good-looking. Half of the girls in the Leaf Village drool over him.
Sakura looked surprised. "Teuchi's daughter reacted similarly. We really need to know now,"
"How were you able to see his face?" Naruto asked.
"She's his closest friend. Of course, she's seen it," Sasuke rolled his eyes at the question.
This reminded me of when Rin, Obito, and I were all trying to plot against him to see what was under there too. I was able to see just by luck.
"Well the first time, it was by luck. He and I were on the same team, and we all just took him to eat. He was quick though, so I only saw it briefly the first time," I answered. "Did you try that?"
"We did, and he figured us out," Naruto replied. "So we went to you for ideas,"
So they all started talking and trying to form a plan. From what Kakashi has told me, it was surprising to see them work together to figure this out.
"I got an idea," I smirk.
They all turned their heads to me.
"What is it?"
"I'll take him out for drinks, and start up a conversation with him. He won't suspect a thing, since he has no problem taking his mask off around me sometimes. Then you guys will get a quick look, then leave right away before he sees you," I suggest.
Sasuke handed all of us discreet headsets and then I told them to go to the cafe and disguise themselves. I went to knock on Kakashi's apartment door. He looked like he just got back from grocery shopping.
"Oh hello Hana," He greeted. "Did you want to hang out?"
I nodded. "Yeah, let's go to the cat cafe they have here. I love that cafe and plus, I wanted to talk to you,"
Kakashi nodded. "Alright, I just need to put my groceries away and we can go,"
He closed the door and I could hear Naruto speaking loudly in the earpiece I was wearing. "Oh come on! He's gonna take forever!"
"Quiet Naruto!" Sakura shouted back.
I sighed, turning down the earpiece. Not only did that hurt my eardrums, but I also didn't want Kakashi to hear that.
Kakashi opened the door and walked out. "I'm ready,"
We started walking to the cat cafe and I instantly panicked because I didn't think about what I was going to 'talk' about. Now I had to come up with something.
We walked inside the cafe and I internally rolled my eyes at the "disguise" Naruto picked. He had a fake mustache on and black glasses. I had to purposely switch sides so Kakashi wouldn't notice that. Sakura and Sasuke seemed to be the only two who understood what I meant by "disguise."
Kakashi and I went to order and the girl was drooling over him once again. He ordered some green tea and I ordered a cappuccino.
I picked a spot where they could see and sat down with Kakashi. "So, what did you want to talk about?"
"Uh," I sweated a bit, making him raise an eyebrow.
"You're not...gonna confess to me, are you?" Kakashi teased.
I rolled my eyes at that. "No. I just wanted to ask you how you were doing after the uh, attack,"
"Oh, I'm doing alright," He replied. "Tsunade did a good job,"
"Come on," I heard Naruto mutter through the earpiece.
I adjusted my hair and then took a sip of my coffee. Kakashi started pulling his mask down to take a drink and I could hear them through the earpiece talking about how they were about to see his face.
But they were disappointed when he was quick and managed to pull it back up. I ordered a muffin to see if maybe I could get him to keep his mask down by eating. Of course, that didn't work either.
"Oh, thank you for the muffin," He said.
We talked some more and then he put his teacup down. It was empty. He seemed to have noticed that I was eyeing the cup.
"I gotta get going now, but I'll see you around," Kakashi stood up. He was about to leave but then turned to face me. "By the way, you might wanna turn that headset of yours down if you're gonna try and be sneaky,"
I nearly choked on my drink after that.
"Damnit!" Naruto shouted from across the cafe.
He left after that and they all came over to my table.
"We were so close," Sasuke groaned. "Of course it was Naruto's shouting that blew our cover,"
"Don't worry. We've still got time," Sakura said. "We just need to figure something else out now,"
The cashier who was practically drooling over him was on the ground with a nose bleed and heart eyes.
"Oh come on!" Naruto exclaimed, frustrated that she saw his face instead of them.

This story is almost over, and that means I will be starting on the third one where shit hits the fan lmao. I'm adding some more light-hearted chapters here so I can try and display Naruto and Hana's bond better.
