Chapter 34

The next morning, I was already up and having a cup of coffee to start off my day. I was pretty tired from the mission last night since I got back so late.

My mind started shifting to the masked man I encountered on my mission. I was too confused to even bring him up to the Leaf Village Council in my report.

My gut told me that he was the one who killed Rika Hirako, yet he was acting like a child. I don't understand what his deal was.

The more I kept pondering, the worse my headache was getting. I took another long sip of my coffee and someone started knocking on my door. I stood up to go see who it was. A smile broke out on my face when I saw it was Naruto and Jiraiya.

"Hey guys, did you just get back?" I ask.

Naruto nodded. "Yup! Grandma Tsunade is already meeting with the Council,"

I motioned for them to come inside, so they slipped their shoes off. Thankfully, I redecorated the living room not too long ago, so any pictures that would raise questions from Naruto were out of sight.

"Did you just call her 'Grandma Tsunade'?" I smirk. "She's not gonna like that name, you know,"

"Yeah, yeah," Naruto shrugged.

Jiraiya told me about how their mission was a success and all that.

"Is she going to be able to check on Kakashi? I went by his place last night to check in on him, but I saw that he was gone. So then I asked the hospital and apparently, they wanted him back over there since he woke up to check for more injuries," I ask.

"She will," Naruto reassured. "She also promised to heal Sasuke and Bushy-Brows too,"

They both had to get going after a couple more minutes of catching up and I decided I would get going too so I could go visit Kakashi. Even though they informed me that he was back there, they didn't let me visit since visiting hours were over.

When I got to the hospital, the nurses were running around as if they were busy.

"Hello, can I help you?" The receptionist asks.

"I'm here to visit Kakashi Hatake," I replied.

She nodded and looked down at a binder on the desk, then told me what room he was in. I walked down there and saw Guy was already leaving.

"Oh hey Guy," I greeted. "Were you visiting Lee?"

"I was just coming back from checking on Kakashi, but I'm about to go check on Lee now," He replies, with a hint of sadness in his voice.

I looked at him sympathetically. It was sad seeing the most cheerful guy in this kind of mood.

"Well I was told that Tsunade is here already and that she'll be able to check on all of them," I said, trying to raise his hopes.

He looked slightly hopeful and then started walking to Lee's room. I walked inside Kakashi's room, seeing he was passed out still. I thought he was awake?

I sat down on the chair next to his bed and started reading a magazine that was on the end table. I know Itachi used his Tsukuyomi on him, so that must've really taken a lot out of him, considering it's psychologically damaging.

As I waited for Tsunade to come and heal him, I couldn't focus on the magazine since the masked man was on my mind again. I just didn't understand who he was and what he wanted from me.

Clearly, he was capable of killing, so he wasn't some idiot that he was portraying to be. I started passing out.

I looked around me, seeing that I was back outside. I was running in the trees. Why was this familiar?

The familiar cry of the Nine-Tailed Fox roared throughout the village and I looked down at my body, seeing I was 15 again and I was wearing the clothes that I used to wear.

A dark purple ball of chakra came flying in my direction and I gasped. Someone grabbed me before it could hit me and I looked up, seeing Uncle Minato.

My eyes started watering.

"U-Uncle Minato?"

"I told you to stay back!" He scolded me. "I can't have you getting yourself killed, do you understand that if that tailed beast bomb hit you, that would've been the end?"

"I..."

I couldn't form any words. I was too much in shock. I remembered this night clearly and even if this was a flashback, seeing Uncle Minato again was a shock.

He sighed when he saw the way I was looking at him. He opened his mouth to speak and his gaze quickly focused on something else and his eyes narrowed. "Hana, you need to leave,"

I looked to where he was looking and there was a man with bushy hair and wearing a mask.

"No!" I shook my head stubbornly.

"Hana, leave right now."

The way Uncle Minato spoke told me he was serious and wouldn't argue anymore about it. I took one last look at the masked man and suddenly, I had a sense of deja vu. I tried to study how the mask looked, but it looked blank. As if that person didn't have a face. Why can't I remember?

"Hana?"

I opened my eyes and quickly sat up, seeing the magazine I was holding was on the floor. My cheeks dusted pink in embarrassment when I saw Tsunade, Shizune, and Naruto. I chuckled in embarrassment when I saw they were looking at me with concern.

"Are you alright?" Naruto asked, with concern.

"Uh, yeah. Just tired from my mission last night," I replied, looking at Tsunade.

She hasn't aged one bit.

"M-Miss Tsunade?" I ask, with shock.

She studied my face as if she didn't remember me. Even Shizune looked like she didn't remember me, but I don't blame them. It's been years.

Shizune then started widening her eyes and she realized who I was. "No way...Hana U-"

"Namikaze," I quickly corrected.

Both Shizune and Tsunade rose an eyebrow at my correction. Tsunade then started looking like she was starting to remember me. "It's you. I remember you, Jiraiya trained you when you were just a kid and I believe I healed your cousin too,"

I nodded.

"Can we heal Kakashi-Sensei now?" Naruto asked.

"Right," Tsunade said and her hands started to glow green.

Naruto and I both looked at her hopefully and I started to smile when his eyes started opening.

He sat up and looked around.

"Disgraceful," Tsunade berated. "To be taken out by two low-life punks. I thought you were supposed to be the best?"

Kakashi immediately recognized who she was. He looked a little nervous since her temper was well known.

"Sorry to disappoint," He sweat dropped.

"One more, then you're done," Naruto said to Tsunade.

The door burst open, causing me to jump. It was Guy and it looked like he was probably waiting outside the room. "It's Rock Lee! He's right next door!"

Tsunade looked at me before leaving Kakashi's room. "We'll catch up later,"

I nodded at her and they all left the room. I could hear Guy shouting from here in the hallway. I hoped that she could heal his student though, I could tell he really cared for him like he was his son.

Kakashi looked over at me and I picked up the magazine off the floor.

"Are you feeling better now?" I ask him.

He nodded. "Yeah, her healing abilities still manage to take me by surprise sometimes,"

"I know," I agreed.

She healed him from a psychologically damaging jutsu. That's impressive. I hoped Itachi was at least nice enough to not show him the incident with Rin and Obito in that genjutsu.

I told Kakashi about the mission I was on and he was surprised to hear that Rentaro and Rika joined in with the group who wanted revenge against Minato.

"Is Rika still out there?" He asks.

"Um, not exactly," I answer. "She uh...I uh, defeated her with Kuroshi if you remember him,"

Yeah, I still didn't want to tell him about the masked man since I still didn't know anything about him myself. That was a headache to think about anyway.

Kakashi looked at me as if he knew I was acting weirdly about that.

"Well, that's two down and one to go," Kakashi replied. "But we'll have to be careful with this last one. There's no doubt he's going to be the strongest out of them, and he definitely won't be happy that you've survived every single one of them,"

"Somehow I have a feeling this last one isn't truly the last one," I said.

"What do you mean?" Kakashi asks.

"The 'last one' might be a cover for the person who's behind all of this," I clarified.

"You're right about that. We'll have to find out more info if we can,"

I caught up Kakashi about Tsunade being the Hokage now and now I knew I would have to tell her about this since she's Hokage now. I sat down on the chair again and started staring off into the window.

I couldn't remember that person from that night the Nine-Tails attacked. Why the hell can't I remember? The more I tried to remember, the headache started to come back and I grew frustrated at how I couldn't remember.

"Are you alright?" Kakashi asked, noticing the visible frustration. "And don't lie about it,"

"I just...can't seem to remember a specific detail from the night the Nine-Tails attacked and it's bugging me," I replied.

"Trauma," He reached for his latest copy of the Makeout series on the other end table. "Sometimes our brains won't allow us to remember certain events if they're too traumatic,"

I nodded. I guess that made sense.

"How would I be able to remember that specific thing if my brain isn't allowing me to?"

Kakashi didn't reply and I assume it's because he didn't know the answer himself. We're both damaged, so I didn't expect him to know.

I spent the rest of my day trying to figure that out.
