Chapter 20
My gut feeling was right.
I quickly got back up and weaved a sign for my water cannon jutsu.
I spat out a beam of boiling water and shot it towards him instantly. His face immediately got scalded and grunted, holding his hands in his face.
"You bitch," He snarled.
"I know I am," I smirked.
I wasn't going to use the rasengan unless I had to. It takes a lot of my chakra out.
He walked towards me, still clutching his face. He moved his hand and started staring hatefully at me. His face was red and his flesh looked like it was peeling.
He immediately threw senbons at me and I dodged. He weaved a sign instantly for a wind release and blew a ball of wind at me. I dodged again and the ball shredded the tree behind me.
The burn must've slowed him down.
I weaved another sign. "I can cool that burn down for you," I smirked.
I realized my water style would be weak since there's no pool of water nearby. I'd have to somehow get near one.
I used my water whip and used some of my lightning style to add an electrical current inside. I smacked him in the arm with it and I could tell it left him stunned for a second.
I weaved a sign for a lightning release and shoved my hand to the ground. Small bolts of lightning started going towards him and it burst out of the ground, wrapping around his ankles like chains.
I had to keep my hands to the ground to send electric shocks to him. I had to stun him even more so I could get him tied up and bring him to the ANBU.
This man managed to throw a shuriken at my hand that was on the ground and I moved it quickly. He got up and ran at me with surprising speed and punched me in the stomach. His fist had wind flowing around it and an explosive burst of wind released onto me. I fell to the ground with the wind knocked out of me.
Pun not intended.
"You had me off guard, but now I've backed you into a corner," He smirked. "I'm going to finish what the others couldn't,"
I glared at him, trying my hardest to just breathe.
He held a kunai and started looming over me.
Damnit.
I managed to let out a breath and dodged his attempt to stab me. I dodged by barely an inch.
I got up and quickly grabbed his wrist, twisting it. He yelled out as I broke his wrist and the kunai fell to the ground. I could hear the crack of bones. That chemical version of the eight tails was long gone, but sometimes the bloodthirstiness was still in me as a lingering effect.
I smirked.
"I thought you said you would finish me off?" I taunted.
He glared at me and grabbed my hair, pulling it down. I was used to a lot of enemies using my hair against me. I gripped his wrist he was using for my hair and narrowed my eyes at him.
"Let go or I will break this one too,"
He let go instantly and I started forming a rasengan in my other hand. I hit him with it and he went flying back into the tree in front of us. Now the wind was knocked out him this time.
I used this opportunity to use my water chains to keep him there. I knew it wouldn't last since I'm not anywhere near water, but it would buy me enough time to tie him up with some wire string.
He was gasping out as I was tying him.
He caught his breath finally and I heard Anko calling my name.
"Hana!"
I turned around and saw her panting.
"Are you okay?!" She asked.
I nodded. "I had a bit of trouble, but he was nothing compared to the others,"
I realized what I said and mentally kicked myself.
"Others?" She asked.
"Uh, it's a long story. I'll explain when we get this guy to the Interrogation Force,"
She nodded and we met up with some ANBU, who took the rogue ninja and disappeared with him. We started walking to the top of the tower, where the proctor's lounge was and she broke the silence.
"So, what did you mean by 'the others'?"
I sighed.
"Well, there's some pissed off ninjas from the war. They want revenge against my uncle and they've been trying to kill me as a way to get revenge against him. I ran into a few of them already," I replied.
Anko looked shocked.
"Does the Hokage know?" She asked.
I was surprised she suddenly started talking to me.
I nodded. "He does. He made it clear that he doesn't want me going on missions alone in case they try to ambush me,"
She looked angry. "Well if I run into any of these guys myself, then I'm going to beat their ass!"
I looked at her questioningly.
"Hana, I know we haven't spoken in years. I'm sorry for avoiding you, but now that I know these guys are after you, I can't stop avoiding you now," She said. "Who else is involved?"
"Just Kakashi. The first one wanted revenge against him in particular, so we're trying to figure out when they want to strike," I answered.
"Well just be careful then. I'll help you too," She said.
I was still in shock.
"Anko, I'm really sorry for everything that happened in the past. I know I messed up, but I'm trying to make everything right, now that Naruto is here,-"
She cut me off.
"I'm not one for sappy stuff, I get it," She said. "I'm sorry too. We can talk more about this later when the exams are over,"
I smiled a little.
They were all right. Lord Hokage, Kurenai, and Asuma.
"So, does this mean we're on speaking terms?"
"Yes,"
I suddenly felt as if this huge weight has been lifted off my chest. I had her back. I had all my friends back. I'm still broken and torn from what happened to Obito and Rin, but knowing I had my other friends back was comforting.
We got to the tower and the Hokage was sitting on the lounge chair with Hayate and a few other jounin.
Anko told him about Orochimaru and everything that happened with him, and then I told him about the man who attacked me.
He was glad that I didn't have any trouble fending this guy off.
Anko then started telling him about a curse mark Orochimaru gave her. She said he activated it and lifted her hair off her neck so he could treat it. She also mentioned that Sasuke needs to be kicked out since they're suspicious that he's after him.
The Hokage just insisted on Sasuke staying in the exams and to keep it going.
The genin were still in the Forest of Death, so it wasn't time for us to go meet with them yet.
"Hana," The Hokage said to me. "I need you to be more on guard now. I'm glad to hear that you were able to defeat that guy, but it almost seemed too easy when you explained it to me,"
I nodded with him in agreement.
"I do agree with you. It almost seemed as if he was holding back the whole time. I don't know if that curse mark Anko mentioned has something to do with it too," I said.
I hope Orochimaru didn't join them, but he probably didn't.
"If he does have that curse mark, then this is bad news. The Interrogation Force has him and if he knows how to use it, then he may come back for her," Anko added.
Another proctor walked in and put a VHS tape in the VCR player. The tape had some Sand ninjas who already made it and a red-haired one was extremely ruthless. I'm glad I never had to fight anyone like him in my life.
I had a bad feeling about that blue-haired guy and Orochimaru. I couldn't even focus on the tape because now I can't stop thinking about it.
