Withered Flower

Angelo stood still staring at Nathan's grave stone. The burial was over and everyone had gone but he just wanted to stay back. He had lost someone else again. He had lost the only family he had left. The only family that was on his side and it terrified him. He felt so empty on the inside.

Everything was happening so fast. Everything had happened so fast.

He exhaled.

He just got back. He had a lot to tell his father. He didn't even get the chance to say all he wanted, all he planned to say for the past fifteen years. He didn't get the chance to get mad at his father for abandoning him all those years.

He scoffed.

"Gelo?" He held his breath. He needed a moment to be sure he heard right. There was only one person that could ever call him that. He slowly turned.

Patricia Adams.

He was now looking at the dark skinned lady in her late twenties with bright brown eyes and the most perfect smile he had ever seen standing in front of him. She smiled at him. Just what he needed. Someone he really knew, someone to talk to.

*******************************************

The garden was quiet.
Too quiet. Just as he had imagined it would be during their walk.

Patricia meant a lot to him. She was like the family he never had during his stay in Germany. They literally spent their lives together. They went to the same high school, and even university. Best friends, twins, they were called a lot of names. Only difference was that they were not related. Patricia has known him all his life. They practically grew up together. " Just friends' they told everyone even when they both could feel the chemistry between them. They were just too scared to admit it to each other. You know what they say happens when you find yourself getting too attached to someone, you start to have feeling for them without even knowing what those feelings are.

Angelo had never really thought of being in a relationship with anyone all his life or being more than friends with Patricia. He had to be the most focused person she had ever met. He kept everything appropriate and respected boundaries. He was bad at reading minds too. Patricia on the other hand was different. She knew what her feelings were and the only reason she was scared to tell him how she felt was only because she was scared to lose him. Scared he was going to reject her or start to feel awkward around her.

Talk about a one sided love.
Only difference was that it wasn't one sided.

Angelo stared at her with a large smile on his face as they walked past the huge beautiful row of flowers

"For someone who just left a graveyard, you sure look too happy to see me." Patricia finally spoke.

"I'm just suprised you came."

"Duh. Whose shoulders were you going to cry on if I hadn't? Besides Germany isn't that far." She pushed him a little.

"I've been gone in less than a week and you already miss me." Patricia knew exactly what Angelo was doing. He was trying to not talk about how he felt or how he was keeping up. She knew him too much and she wasn't going to not talk about it. She sighed.

"How are you Gelo?"
Angelo frowned.

"Really. I know how much your Dad meant to you."

Angelo stopped walking. She stopped walking too.

"Angelo I'm here for you. You know that right? If you ever want to talk..."

"Nah I'm good. I didn't really know him anyway." He looked away. That was another thing Angelo was very good at, lying about how he really felt. He never told anyone he was hurting and never bothered anyone with his problems either. He knew better.
Patricia didn't need to look in his eyes to know he was lying and in denial. She wasn't going to push it. She wasn't going to force him to talk about it if he didn't want to.

"Look at the bright side. You get to inherit all that cash."
He scoffed.

"I wish I cared about that."

"Well, I've got great news." He slowly turned to look at her.

"I'm going to stick around a while longer. Just so you don't kill yourself." Angelo rolled his eyes. That was great news even though he knew Patricia had made that decision for him. He was really excited but tried not to be too obvious about it. He wasn't sure that was the perfect time to be happy about anything. It really meant a lot to him that Patricia was sticking around. He was starting to feel really lonely all by himself in a country he barely even knew.

"I know you missed me." He teased.

"You wish."

Ring!

Angelo slowly reached for his phone.
He wondered why his father's lawyer was calling. He slowly picked it up and placed it on his ears.

***********************************************

"Welcome sir Angelo."
Angelo didn't mind the maid. He just gave her his jacket and walked straight to the dining room. Something was definitely up. Ever since he had got that call, it triggered him and ruined his entire mood. Juliana was on the king seat and Michael was right beside her with the lawyer at her other side.

"Oh thank God," the lawyer said as he walked closer. "Angelo is here."

"What's going on?" Asked a really confused Angelo as he got closer to the table.

"Have a seat." Juliana instructed, gesturing to one of the empty seats. "We are about to listen to your father's will."

"Father's will?" Angelo frowned as he sat slowly beside the lawyer. He clearly had no idea what was going on.

"How's that even possible? We just buried the man." Angelo said in a rather disgusted tone. "How can  sharing his wealth be all that matters right now?"

Juliana closed her eyes. She was trying so hard not to get offended and more irritated than she already was.

"He's dead Angelo. That's all that matters." Micheal said.
Angelo glared at him. He couldn't believe his ears. He couldn't believe everything that was happening in front of his eyes.

"What is wrong with you?" he asked. "What is wrong with all of you?"

"You don't have to be here if you don't want to Angelo. You're just a half member of this family."

Micheal told him rubbing his eyes. Juliana chuckled with her eyes still closed.

"What?"

"That man stopped being my father the day he cheated on Mum. All I want is what I was deprived of all those years. I want what's mine." Micheal eyed Angelo. Angelo could see his eyes. How scary they looked. He wasn't suprised at all.

"No need to waste so much time Attorney Bernard." Juliana told the lawyer. "Get straight to the point."

"I'm afraid we still have to wait for one more person Mrs Trusk. I'm sure she'd be here soon."

"She?"

Anna ran into the room quickly with a cup of coffee in her hands.

"Sorry I'm late." She announced rushing to sit beside Angelo. She looked like she had barely had the time to change from her burial clothes and her hair was messy. She tried to comb it with her hands. Looks like Angelo wasn't the only one truly mourning his father's death.

She turned to Angelo.
"Hey." She greeted.

Angelo exhaled and then looked away.

Unbelievable.

"What on earth is she doing here?" Juliana asked with a scowl on her face. "I thought I asked you to leave?" She turned to Anna.

Anna tried not to say anything. She wasn't going to. She just had to let the lawyer do all the talking.

"I called her." The lawyer said. They all turned to look at him.

"Care to explain why?" Juliana asked.

"Because Mrs Storm happens to be on your late husband's will too, Mrs Trusk ."

Micheal scoffed.
"Her?" he asked. "She's not even a member of this family."

Anna scoffed. She turned to him.

"Trust me I hate being here just as much as you hate me to." She said taking a sip out of her coffee. "Can we just do what we came here for so we all can be on our way?" She asked them. No one said a thing.

The lawyer cleared his throat and slowly opened the large book in front of him. Everyone gave him their whole attention. Juliana had to make sure she didn't miss a thing. Anna was the least of her worries.

"It is with great regret that I am not here to-"

"Oh just get straight to the point." Juliana cut him off. What she didn't need was to hear one more of her husband's newly acquired boring speeches.

The lawyer turned to look at her. She widened her eyes signaling him to go on. He exhaled and then turned back to the book. He nodded.

"To my youngest son, Michael, I give Trusk resort. He is to manage the resort and handle all its affairs. He's to try not to let the family down this time around."
Micheal scoffed.

"I have also decided to add an additional five percent from my shares to his five percent to be effective when he's proven himself to be a man of his own making."

"What does that even mean? Man of my own making?" Micheal asked the lawyer. It was so obvious he was mad. Angelo snorted trying so hard not to laugh.

"To my older son Angelo, I'm giving him Trusk wine because I know he is responsible enough to handle such a big responsibility. I'm also giving him twenty percent of the my shares with Trusk wine and ten percent of my shares with Trusk Industries as I should have done the day he was born. And also, he is to be the sole owner of the other Trusk mansion at the peninsula. "

" Unbelievable." Michael scoffed. The lawyer paused as they all turned to look at him. "I can't believe this. Twenty percent?"

"Thirty." Juliana corrected.

"He has no right. He's not even legitimate. I'm his legitimate son, I should have majority of his shares. "

"Calm down son." Juliana told him. "This is not the time for this."

The lawyer sighed and then turned back to the book.
"To my wife Juliana, Trusk restaurant is hers and Trusk hotels. "

Juliana frowned.

'Was that it? Was that all?'
She asked herself glaring at the lawyer as he paused for a while.

"I only wish you can learn to let go of all the anger and hatred within you. I know I caused most of them and I'm sorry. I also know you tried to poison me Juliana and I don't blame you for it. I know how much pain and anger I caused you and that is why I let it go. That is why this is all you're getting from me."
They all turned to Juliana.
Angelo could not believe it. Micheal too. They wanted her to say something. To deny it. She didn't. Instead, she scoffed.

"I'm also taking all Andre's shares from you. Leaving you with your five percent."

"So low Nathan, even for you." She said.

"To Anna." The lawyer continued.

For the first time Anna paid attention. Everyone else too.

"Thank you Anna for all the love and support you shown my family, especially my oldest son Andre. Thank you for being kind. Thank you for being the daughter I never had. From today, Anna has the keys to the kingdom. Trusk industries is hers."

"What!" Juliana and Micheal chorused. Everyone was so suprised including Anna.

"And she's to have all fifteen percent of Andre's shares. She earned it. Every other thing I have should be sold and given for the development of The Trusk foundation."

"Thank God you died Dad!" Micheal yelled as the lawyer closed the book. "You were so useless when you were alive and you're still useless even in death old man."

No one heard the lawyer thank them before the grabbed his briefcase and walked out of the room.

Anna sat still. She could not believe what just happened, what she had just heard.
Juliana was almost having a heart attack. She didn't move on her seat either.

"So, " Anna turned to Michael as soon as she noticed he was seeking her attention. "How many times did you have to bang my father for him to give you all he, no, all our family worked so hard for?"

"What?" Anna asked him.

"You heard me." Michael got up. He was so furious.

"Micheal don't." Juliana tried to stop him.

"I know you did this. You manipulated him. You are an Atian. You've got super powers. You made him give you everything. Was that it? Did you threaten him? Compel him? "

"I don't even know what you're talking about. I'm just as surprised." Anna said in her defense.

"Suprised? You look more happy than suprised." Michael mocked. "So what? I never knew being a hoe was also one of you Atians' super power."

"Micheal that's enough!" Angelo rose his voice.

Silence

Anna scoffed. She could not believe it. She could not believe any of it. She didn't deserve it.
"I'm just going to go like your mum suggested.".

She got up to leave. She grabbed her bag.

"Yeah whore. You better leave." Micheal told her. "Get your fake atian ass out of here."

"Mike." Angelo called. "That's enough."

Anna halted. No. There was no way she was going to let this slide. Not this time. She turned back.

"Just so you all know I didn't ask for any of this. I can't even believe I was trying to talk myself into declining the offer, into not accepting any of this but it looks like none of you deserve it too. All I did was be nice to the old man. Maybe if you had done it and not spent all your time fighting and trying to poison him, he'd have given it to any of you and not to a total stranger. " She scoffed. "Andre was right. You lot are so delusional."

Anna turned and began to walk out.

"Anna wait. "
Juliana got up quickly to stop her but Anna didn't stop.

She was gone.
