When The Sun Sets.
Angelo walked out of the large room with some members of Trusk's management behind him. That had been one hell of a meeting.
He knew what they were trying to do.
He was tired of hearing so many people introduce themselves to him and try to act like they were familiar with him or knew him before that day and there was no other uncomfortable feeling than having people you barely knew cling on to you. He was barely paying attention to all of them.
He had his mind only on one thing, finding Anna.
"Thank you Mrs Trusk."
There she was, exchanging handshakes with one of the board members. She had a bright smile on her face. It was no suprise she was so excited. One of her greatest fears had been put to rest
"Thank you very much too." He heard her say just as the lady walked away with the rest.
Anna turned.
She could see him walk towards her with a huge smile on his face. She didn't stop smiling either.
"Hey." He told her.
"Hey." She told him. She clicked her tongue. "Thank you for having my back, at the meeting."
Angelo chuckled.
"That was nothing. It looked like you needed a black knight."
"I did." She chuckled tucking her hair to the back of her ear.
Angelo stared at her for a short while and for the second time, he had to admit, she looked so beautiful.
For the first time, he looked at her longer than ten seconds and he could see her clearly. Everything he could not see before. How bright and sincere her eyes were. How pink and plump her lips were. All her features were carved perfectly and beautifully.
He cleared his throat.
"Uh, about what I said back at the house-"
Now he was going to apologize. He knew he had to. It was all he thought of since he left the house.
"No, it's alright." Anna insisted.
"I admit I went a little bit overboard. And you were right. I did act like a child."
"You did." She said as her cheeks went red in embarrassment. "But it doesn't matter. We both said things we didn't mean. I pushed first."
"Yeah you did." He chuckled. They both did.
"Let me make it up to you." Anna said. "Over dinner. We could celebrate our recent achievements. Just as friends, or business partners or whatever."
Angelo's smile disappeared for a little while. Anna noticed.
"T-thats if you want of course. If you don't then it's fine. It's no big deal." She knew she didn't want to push it.
"No, it's fine." Angelo forced a smile. "Of course we should celebrate. It's not everyday you get to convince a group of old rich people you mean well for them."
It was just dinner anyway. It didn't necessarily have to mean anything. Just like Anna said, it was just dinner as two business partners who had conquered a great deal that day. They had just walked into a lion's den and were lucky to come out alive.
Anna's face brightened.
"Anna Trusk!" Anna heard someone yell her name from in front of them.
They slowly turned to the men that walked towards them.
Anna could count five of them. Who were they?
They stood still with obvious disgust written all over their faces and huge frowns too. Anna took a deep breath. She could smell it.
Danger!
She watched one of them pull out a gun.
"Go back to your hole demon."
"Get down!" Angelo pushed her aside as the man pulled the trigger. They both fell to the ground.
Anna could hear everyone scream as they took to their heels. She turned to the men. They were no longer there. She watched both her bodyguards run after them with security behind them.
Whooz!
Anna could barely hear anything. Her head felt so heavy all of a sudden and she couldn't see straight. She remembered. Back to the day at the Arc. The day Lucas and her father were shot. She was panicking.
"Are you alright?" She didn't even hear Angelo ask. "Anna!" He yelled her name. "Anna!" He called shaking her. Anna looked at him. Everything was back to normal now. She had snapped out of it and was back to reality.
"I'm fine." She told him. "I'm fine." She let Angelo help her get back on her feet.
"Mrs Trusk."
They both turned as one of her body guards yelled rushing towards them.
"What happened?" Angelo asked him. "Who were those men?"
"We don't know yet. But we think they're humans. Members of the Anti-Atian club."
"Anti-Atian club?" Angelo asked. He had no idea what that was.
"You're not the only one that has a grudge against Atians, Angelo." Angelo turned to Anna.
"There are many others that don't support the integration program. You should come with me." The bodyguard said. "The men have not left the building yet. We have to get you both somewhere safe."
Anna nodded.
"Stay behind me please." The bodyguard said leading the way while Angelo and Anna followed carefully.
"Come on." Angelo reached for her hand. He held on tight to them without even realizing it but Anna did. She held her breath.
He was trying to protect her. She didn't mind. That was all she needed. Being safe was all that mattered to her.
Damn those petty humans.
She exhaled following Angelo's lead.
